I seem to have something about me on over night buses in Thailand, last year when I returned to Bangkok from Koh Phangyan I was sat next to an Israeli guy who when we stopped at 2am for food ! (Don’t ask Thai buses are crazy) he told me he had been watching me sleep and had to resites from kissing me… WEIRDO! So this year as I sat next to a young gap year boy from England, I thought no problem... Well little did I know that this horny little mite would wake we up every so often with a soft stroking of me\y arms and hands, each time I would pull the exposed part of my body under my sleeping bag and ‘roll’ as much as one can in a sleeper bus over... We crossed the boarder to Thailand without any hastle however the next step was more difficult: Getting to Ko Samet island. WE were meeting Asia's parents there who were on holiday celebrating there anniversary but there didn't seem to be any direct way of getting to the ferry port. Finally we decided to take a minibus to Ra Jong which we ended up waiting 3 hours for. However the time was not wasted as we taught little Thai street kids oragami. When we got to Ra Jong we found there was nothing there, despite it being a seaside town we couldn't find the sea or any place to stay. Eventually we found somewhere that resembled more of a hospital than hotel but a DIY dinner from Tescos cheered us up. The next day we set about ... read more

After breaking the golden rule of staying in the night before travelling it was a minor miracle that fate would wake Jimmy up half an hour before we were due to leave as our unset alarm was not going to. As it turned out we were the first people on the bus so picked our seats on the front row and tried to sleep, though this proved to be a difficult task when the couple behind us decided to turn the trip into their own mini version of High School Musical, singing every sentence. Not what you need with an early morning hangover. Koh Chang is the second largest island in Thailand after Phuket and was only discovered and brought onto the travelers itinery in the early 80s. Most of the island is covered with rainforest ... read more

Sorry about the poor updating! We lasted two days in Bangkok and couldn't wait to get out of there! Got a coach to Chantaburi which we hadn't really planned too well and it not being a tourist place, the coach dropped us off on the highway and we were meant to walk 6 km! So what do we do...hitch hike! lol Jayde wasn't too impressed but what can ya do! Realising that we way were way off the beaten track and the locals were looking at us like we were from a different planet, we decided to give Chantaburi a miss and head straight for the island of Koh Chang. Somehow the guy who didn't speak english realised we wanted to get to a bus terminal and dropped us off just there. Couldn't believe our luck. ... read more

Happy New Years! Our last entry was about two weeks ago and we’ve done a lot so here goes the recap….. We’ve been slowly traveling northbound towards Bangkok, ended up on the island of Kho Phagnan and are getting ready to cross into Cambodia today. Our first stop after the “visa run” was in a city called Chumphon. It was another tired industrial town that had a few large street markets and not much else. The larger cities in Southern Thailand have been unimpressive. The prices for food and accommodation drop a bit which is nice but the cities themselves are very drab. Many old unkempt buildings, massive dormitory style apartment structures, air quality that trumps LA in smog and filthy streets are what come to mind. I can only compare these places to what I ... read more

Day IX Getaway from Bangkok Finally we got our plates, this was the moment that we have been waiting for one week. Immediattely after installing plates we headed to the East. After 10 minutes of driving Police stoped us, because I drove ”wrong” - sure! After negotiating I payed the officer 100Baht instead 400Baht in the police office, and we got moving. Driving Roads are generally in very good condition in Thailand, traffic is wild but we adjusted oursefls to it very fast. One just has to remember respect others and remain humble. Our roads 304, 359 and 33 to the border where quite boring from the point of view of landscapes: lots of broken and shabby houses, hot sun and flat areas. ”Big problem” Said the officer on the border, and we found out that ... read more

Just a quick one as I realised I had forgotten 2 fun things that happened last week! On Saturday it was the Kings birthday so celebrations had been going on all week. We got into the back of a pick up truck and drove to a festival. There was loads of stalls that had clothes and food and a big stage. On the stage was Thailands most famous boy band apparently! I decided to eat some crickets and worms, which were disgusting! Again we were the only westerners at the festival so t was pretty cool! Secondly we went to a club in Suphanburi and the army raided the place. We were just about to leave as well! They were looking for people who were underage and then if they were they got taken away and ... read more
