...so arrived at our accomodation, the Lemon house, about 3 hours north of Bangkok. I'm pretty surprised actually, it's pretty nice and Thailand is far more developed than I expected it would be in this more rural area. We have got proper beds, electricity, running water, TV, western toilets and have all of our meals cooked for us. Although all the food is veggie, which is pretty annoying, I try and have a much meat as I can when we go out! The programme is really well organised aswell. Oh and not forgeting the bar next door to us! Tho they only seem to open when they can be bothered! When we arrived on the Sunday we got a welcome party put on by the local school children, they did dances for us and played drums. ... read more

Hey guys hows things going? We're at the twin house at the moment, another eco home. We just discovered that they have two bars and internet and so many other good things and we're now v.upset!! We have one bar and the nearest internet is a 30minute walk away in the sweltering heat!! Anyway enough complaining. We went out to a 'BBQ' restaurant yesterday after updating our blog which actually entailed a strange pot which you put the raw meat on. Not at all hygienic but nothing is here and a day later none of us our dead which is a good sign! We went back to the house and played half a game of monopoly before everyone got distracted by The Notebook, much to Sophie's distress so her and Charlene went back to the room ... read more

Sawadee Ka (Hello)!! Hope you all well. After updating on Monday morning we went to eat lunch at a restaurant before going to make ourselves some bracelets. And yes, you guessed it, More rice for lunch! For dinner we went back to the lemon house and theres no points for guessing what we ate!! Tuesday was the busiest day so far. We went from the House to an art museam in Ayuttahya, The former captital of Thailand (excuse spelling). we then had lunch before heading off to ride an elephant. felt sorry for the poor thing really. then we visited a temple. we have both never felt heat like it. we had to cover up to show respect and i think we were close to fainting. after the temple- and worshipping the giant buddah- we went ... read more

Week Two, The Lemon House. This week began with a trip to Ayutthaya where we visited some ancient ruins. This trip was followed by a visit to an elephant park where we stayed for a while and watched the elephants get their daily shower and were amused by the baby ellies playing together. Tuesday began a three day focus on Buddhism which began with us getting up at 5.30am to give some local monks breakfast. Then we visited a Buddhist temple that afternoon. Wednesday we went back to the temple to have an overnight stay. Firstly we had to change into white pyjamas because it's a sign of purity. During the day we had two sessions, led by one of the head monks, in meditation. The following morning, after a sleepless night on the floor ... read more

Home For the first two weeks of this trip base camp is The Lemon House. The accommodation is lovely, two bed, large, clean rooms with bathrooms, set amongst a beautiful garden of wild orchids, butterfly's and bird song waking you at daybreak. It is definitely the nicest accommodation yet and the actual camp is set along side the river. It is so tranquil and a total contrast to Bangkok's noise and smog. We are to spend our time here doing various cultural activities and exploring the area. One day this week we spent on a bike ride. This was a lovely way to peacefully glide through the surrounding villages, stopping to look at the local vegetation, all the herbs the Thai people use in their cooking growing naturally on the riverside and the beautiful wild ... read more

After kicking up a fuss about being put in the wrong house, i was eventually moved to "brow" (brown) house as our guide, oliver calls it - yay! Unfortunately this good news came at a price- me not seeing a step in the dining room and stubbing my broken toe very, very hard. Everyone was screaming for oliver to get me some ice, as there was none in the fridge, and after 5 minutes of faffing around he emerged with tiger balm, which apparently, can mend anything! not so sure about broken bones though... he did finally bring me some ice though and i definitely paid for it the next day- could hardly walk, though now it is a lot better! That evening some children from a local school came to welcome us to singburi- did ... read more

Hii This week has been cultural week! Wasn't as busy as last week so had plenty of time to read, play badminton and have a few nights at the bar with the puppies... they have new collars so cute :). We also went to our temple stay, where we found more puppies… sorry chilli. The stray dogs all live in the temples and its really sad to see most of them ill but they’re well cared for there. I was really looking forward to the temple stay but it seemed to get hotter there.. if that is even possible! We got there after lunch and changed into our white robes that looked a bit like we were all in a 'home'. then wandered off down the village and around the market. (bought another couple of cute ... read more

First of all, I just want to let yoy know that I have added a bit more to the school blog and also added a few more pictures. Today is our last day in the eco house, which is really sad as I have had such a fantastic time here. I have become really good friends with Dan who owns the bar ( not because I drink there alot, I just really like talking to him, plus I have become his English teacher lol) and his son Kiim who is the cutest, yet cheekiest kid, I have ever met!!! Whenever dan is not looking he will be really cheeky and then Dan will show up and Kiim will sit all innocently lol. He painted my leg yellow today even though i said no about 10 times, ... read more

Just a quickie, not realted to my blog, I found out my uni results yesterday and I got a 2:1, very happy. Can finally sit back and relax until the 1st of September hehe. At the weekend we went to a resort, basically in the middle of nowhere, but it was gorgeous. A bit like a centre parcs sort of thing where there was a pool, jacuzzi, massage place, horse riding, golf etyc. It was really good and our rooms were lovely aswell, plus they had air conditioing. It feels so good to sleep with a cover on and not be sweating bucket loads!!! In the evening the resort held a show for us with some traditional thai dancing which was really nice and then they opened the club onsite, which was good, nice to listen ... read more
