Hello!! We have arrived safely at Koh Samet island! It is beautiful!! We arrived here on sunday after travelling for about 7 hours in total from the eco house in SingBuri. We travelled on a big bus which was better than the trucks we had been traveling around in for the last 3 weeks!! and came across to here on a fairly small boat which was interesting trying to get everyones luggage on and off! - since the boat couldnt get next to the pier (it was full) we had to climb across another boat to get on to the pier - with our bags! We arrived at our accomadation first out of the other groups as the trekkers were coming straight from trekking and we met them here -it was good that we got here ... read more

I've been sick with some sort of stomach parasite I picked up on the way home from Koh Samet (trip to the Phrao hospital! Woo!), so I'm going to keep this short with more to follow later in the week. Huyen and I spent over 24 hours traveling from Phrao to Koh Samet. Two hours from Phrao to Chiang Mai. We were in Chiang Mai for 4 hours, meeting some friends for dinner. Then an overnight bus at 9 pm that arrived in Bangkok at 7:30 am. Good times, as we were woken up every hour for bathroom breaks along the way. Then 4 hours of trying to get across town and waiting for the bus in Bangkok, followed by 3 1/2 hours south and east to Ban The. Then a 40 minute ferry ride to ... read more

We were overdue some beach time so were looking forward to Sianoukhville in the south of Cambodia, but there's really not much to write home about the place. The beach was nothing special- dirty in places but pleasant enough and there wasn't that much going on in the town. We rented bikes one day and cycled all around but it wasn't very big and so we'd seen all there was to see within a couple of hours. Our guest house was ok for a couple of nights- a British owned place called Monkey Republic; with great music, food, drinks, chilled out vibe and dirt cheeep (and i do mean filty!) wooden shack bungalows for $6. On the last but one night however we'd had enough of the creepy crawlies (found a tarantuala sized spider and an ... read more

After a very busy 4 weeks exploring and sightseeing in China, Laos and Bangkok we thought it was time for a little break - 'tis a hard life!! We jumped on a bus to Ban Phe and a ferry across to Ko Samet. I decided that it made more sense for one of us to stay with the bags (ie. me) whilst the boys found us a place to stay. It was nearing sunset by the time we got there so I pitched up on the beach with our bags. It looked beautiful, white sands, blue sea, some nice chilled music coming from one of the bars. I was starting to think "this really is the life" when I noticed a dog doing his business on the beach, then he wandered over to me and cocked ... read more

Hiya! I always say a quick one and it never seems to be one!! Its absolutely beautiful here! Never seen anything like it, white sands and amaaazing beaches and so relaxing and lovely! A nice change of pace from ko san road in bangkok! Ok so we had to get a ferry over here after travelling on a coach for about 4 hours! Got on the ferry absolutely fine. I had decided to wear heels because then i could squidge everything into by backpack which currently has everything screwed up in it! not good! This turned out to be a very silly idea. Any normal person would have probably figured this out earlier! I was getting off the boat with my backpack and then I lost my balance and fell backwards into a giant pile of ... read more

Heading to the island And so, early one morning we all descended out of the hotel to the coach that was to take us part way across the country to a port where we could board our boat for Koh Samet. After saying fairwell to those of our group leaving us to head to Koh Tao for diving, we piled onto the bus and headed off. Frankly it was a nightmare of a journey as I had woken up feeling not well and the supposedly air-conditioned bus was not very air-conditioned at all. When asked if we could turn the air-con up, the answer was no because the driver was fine. The driver though happened to have a huge fan on him, which he switched off half way through the journey! Suffice to say, we were ... read more

... read more
