Well, after the months of planning and work (actually not so much planning), we were packed(ish) and ready to head to Glasgow airport. A wee drinky there, where Ross got emotional about his last pint of Tennants and the mummies just got emotional. With mounting excitement we wandered through to the departure gate, only to turn back round and come when Ross realised he still had his penknife in hhis pocket. We cunningly solved this problem by buying an envelope and posting it back home. With that done, we could finally head to the security checks and be on our way. The flight from Glasgow to London was pretty uneventful, save for the excitement of getting fed, (mmmm British Airways), though there was some mild concern regarding the fact that we only had an hour and ... read more

Despite a reasonably good nights sleep, we decided we'd spend our first day in Singapore taking it easy. As recommended, we went out to Sentosa island to find the beach. This turned out to be a theme-park of sorts, but lacking in roller coasters. The main highlight was the aquarium and seeing a Pink dolphin show. Since it was pretty hot, we figured we would brave a swim on the beach, which was pleasant enough until we started getting stung by apparently invisible fish and decided just to sunbathe instead. After a few hours, it seemed the jet lag was catching up on us, so we headed back to the hostel for a (pleasantly air-conditioned) sleep. The next day, we figured we'd had enough of each other so the boys went one way, and Ross ... read more

Returning from Vietnam, I decided to have a few days in Singapore, where I was able to do a little sightseeing and see my old friends and their children. It was a real pleasure to catch up on the news, as well as see what's happening in Singapore from a resident's view point. ... read more

Investigated electronics and photography equipment. In pm did City Tour. Later went to Chinatown to see Night Market. Were going to eat there but the market smells put us off, so we finished up at McDonalds. Next day went to Botanic Gardens and spend hours photographing Orchids. and watching locals enjoy their Sunday off. Then flew to Perth that evening to be met by Joan and Kaye and much cooler weather. ... read more

Finally arrived in Singapore after what seemed like flying round the world ten times. Actually, the flight was good with a number of empty seats so Val could put her feet up and I stretch out my legs. Meals were great. We arrived on time and met by our Goway tour guide and transported to the Concorde Hotel.... read more

When we left KL it was the usual destination, Singapore. Clean, nice, glad I went, but boring. Only spent 3 or 4 days here as well and it was long enough to do and see what I wanted. Went to Raffles Hotel and had the obligatory Singapore Sling (cost me £6.18 for the pleasure), went to the zoo and night safari. I really enjoyed this, kinda cruel to have a Polar Bear in a zoo in Singapore though, poor thing used to the extreme cold and here he was now living virtually on the equator! Did a self guided tour around the city, saw Raffles Landing Site, the Merlion and all the usual sights of Singapore.... read more
