Hello! We visited Sentosa Island, via Cable Car! Island is fantastic has 3 beaches of white sand and greeny-blue waters, was the first time we had chance to sunbathe - and the sun came out from the clouds occasionally, and of course we made the school boy error of not putting on sun tan lotion from the start as instructed by our mothers (sorry mums :( ) and therefore we are slightly pink! we know, we know we promise to put more on in future there just seemed no sun today! Spent the whole day there as there was so much to see and for some reason couldn't drag ourselves away from the beach!! Trout - they even have a Cafe del Mar!!!! All our love, Take care xxx... read more

Hey! Today we went to Raffles Hotel - wow! We experienced monkey nuts on the floor in the Long Bar and the very expensive Singapore Sling in the Courtyard! ($26 per sling - Libby didn't like the taste but surprise surprise i loved it!) We visited the Raffles Museum which was the educational part of the trip ; ) After Raffles we treked miles through the hot sticky weather as Libs wanted us to see the Fountain of Wealth (think it was her way of recovering from the price of the Singapore Sling!) - which was not switched on when we got there might i add!! Good one Lib! Headed to the Night Safari had sneaky, delightful rose wine on the way! Got very close to the animals - including Libby being face to face with ... read more

Hello All, Can you believe it - yesterday we actually climbed a mountain - and you people say we're on holiday. It was called Mount Faber and had some fantastic views of the harbour and central singapore. We went on Hendersons waves which was basically a bridge over a motorway made off wooden slats. We then ventured to Little India and straight back out again - what a hole! It was swarming with stinky perverted men so we jumped straight back on the MRT and headed for Clarke Quay - this was amazing, a posh vibrant place full of shops, restaurants and bars that all run along the water. We visited the Coleman bridge, ate Quesidilla and drank wine. Love to all Xx Xx P.S Thanks Trout you are officially our 1st subscriber although your message ... read more

HAPPY NEW YEAR - to all our friends and families - we hope you had an excellent night and celebrated in style. We were on the harbour front in Singapore at Vivo City unfortunately not on the multi billion boat that was just setting sail for New Year but it was still beautiful - bloomin expensive though which is why we were only slightly merry at the end of the night... :) :) We spent the day shopping on Orchard Road and totally mastered the MRT system! Then had the worst KFC for lunch we have ever tasted - not even sure it was chicken, we guessed at dog and left it! Thankfully the pizza we had in the evening at one at the harbour restaurants made up for it - yummy. We are off to ... read more

19/12 - As we sit shivering in a cold Dublin Airport terminal, the plan for the next 2 months unfolds in our minds. Gina and I will be arriving in Singapore to begin our Asian experience which will be primarily revolved around a Guided 14 day “Peninsular Route” trip from Singapore, up through Malaysia and into Thailand, finishing in Bangkok. The trip is run by a company called Kumuka. Following that, we would fly to Australia, leaving Sydney on a cruise to some Pacific islands, returning to Sydney then travelling up the east coast by Greyhound Bus. The plan, having us return to Ireland on the 20th February. For now that seemed a long, long way away. It wasn’t long before we sat in the terminal in Heathrow airport waiting for our Singapore Airlines A380 to ... read more

I've got 4 hours to kill in the Singapore Airport and what a place to spend it! It's like a city IN this airport: free internet, movie theatres, every kind of restaurant or shopping you could want, they give free siteseeing tours of the city, there's a SWIMMING POOL and I so wish I'd known that cuz I could be out basking in the 30 degree sun of Singapore. I'm in "maintaining" stage with my tan right now. Travelling for 2 days starting with a ride in the back of a pickup truck down the back roads of Koh Lanta to catch a ferry, transfer AT SEA to another ferry, cram into a full airport shuttle and then take 3 planes to Melbourne. I have yet to find a place to sleep when I get there ... read more

Hello again from Singapore. Arrived safely...no big A380 disaster. Happy to be in Singy where it is 30 degrees all the time (I hear it is snowing and minus 10 at home...ouch!). The food, the shopping, the sights. Ahhh...hello Singy! First day here did almost everything! Had to hold myself back from enjoying my Sling at Raffles...that will be Saturday. Walked down to the Merlion and watched the madness for half hour or so then, with appetite ready, headed to a food stall. Any one will do...there are lots! After a delicious meal head through China Town then back over to the Colonial district and a stop for kaya toast and coffee at the fabulous Ya Kun then further to Bugis and Arab town. Remembered where the worlds greatest homous and enjoyed another feast. Hmmm...lots of ... read more

The Great Escape!!! queue music! We woke up on the 30th having been stranded for a few days now. A grenade had been fired but this time from the Pro Government supporters. Kirsty managed to secure a flight to Sydney from Singapore on the 6th December and I decided to accompany her down to Singapore and try and fly from there. We logged onto the internet and brought up the AirAsia web page. They were displaying a flight from Phuket to Singapore on the 6th which would be too late for Kirsty. Then out of nowhere popped up a flight on the 5th, after the site crashing three times we managed to book it - with thanks to some funds from Dad! I felt as though as small ray of light had been shone down ... read more

We arrived in Singapore on 12th November. For once we actually had a lovely hotel booked, in Changi Village, rather than the usual cheap dropout places we usually go to. We decided to enjoy it while it lasts. The hotel was great - lovely room with sea views, two outdoor swimming pools - one of them on the roof terrace, and a minibar we didn't dare touch as you needed a mortgage to pay for it! The first thing we did when we arrived that night was to jump into the rooftop pool. It was raining and there was lightening in the distance, but it was great fun and so refreshing in the muggy heat. Changi Village is a lovely alternative to staying in the city - we're really not city people. There were lovely walks ... read more
