Geo: 2.74117, 101.719Traveling and Asia: 2 of my greatest loves in life. One of the reasons I love traveling, and life for that matter, is that everyday I wake up knowing what I want to achieve during that day but having no idea about the new experiences I'll encounter, or the interesting people I'll meet, or the new things I'll learn during those 24 hours. A lot can be achieved in this time I feel! Yesterday was certainly no exception. I'll start at the beginning...When I realized that I would have to admit defeat in my fight with Air Asia to change my flights to the Philippines to rebuild schools, I got straight onto google and searched for youth volunteer organizations in Kuala Lumpur. Last week I received a reply from an organization working with teenagers ... read more

Days 196 – 198 (Fri 22nd – Sun 24thMarch) So the reason had arrived for our being in KL. I would have at some point been in KL on my trip but the fact the formula 1 was on made me change my plans and dates to come here, and with air fares in SEA being reasonably cheap it was no hassle to fly in and then fly away from Singapore to where I was, which was good. Lee had wanted to come out to Malaysia and Singapore but after hearing the F1 was on decided to come earlier which is good. The Friday we made it back to KL from Melaka late morning, checked into our new hostel as our previous one was full for the weekend. We decided we had enough time to head ... read more

Sunway Pyramid opened in 1997 and has continued in its expansion. It is 1.7 million sq ft and has an Egyptian-themed shopping space. Sunway Pyramid has divided its shops into individually decorated zones like Oasis Boulevard, Marrakesh and Asian Avenue. At Sunway there is also the Lagoon, a super size theme and waterpark for all ages. It took around 20 minutes to get there by local bus and was worth the visit. Love to all xxx... read more

Due to an issue with my Australian visa, we have to head back to KL a few days earlier than planned to sort that out. Instead of going on the 10-hour bus ride, we decide to fly, which costs only marginally more, but is so much easier on travel-weary joints, bones and buttocks. An hour later, we're at KL International, hop on the bus to the city for the umpteenth time, sit back and relax. Or try to, rather, as there's two nasty Thai chicks sitting right in front of us, who aggressively put their seats back all the way without prior warning. Lucky for us, we discover two free seats in front of them. To reciprocate, we change seats, count to three and simultaneously put our seats back as far as possible. A shrill yelp ... read more

Thaipusam festival is grandly celebrated in the Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia. It is usually celebrated in the Tamil Month of Thai, the end of January or mid February. Thai and Pusam refer to a star at the highest point during the festival. This is the time when Lord Murugan became enlightened and his mother Lord Parvati came to him with the spear Vel to fight the demon Soorapadman. Hindu devotees will walk 14km from Lord Mariamman Temple in Jalan Bandar, together with the chariot. The journey starts in the morning and reaches Batu Caves in the late afternoon. Most Hindus will walk barefooted, carrying a pot of milk or placing the pot of milk on their heads. The repayment for the vow must be fulfilled when one made a vow the year before. They said, if ... read more

Late start this morning, getting up and out of the hostel in time for lunch down one of the nearby streets. Had a lovely chicken curry noodle which cost about $3 and completely filled us up. Made our way to Central Station where we hopped a train out to Shah Alam, the home of the Masjid Sultan Salhuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, also called the Blue Mosque. The train was about a 30 or 40 minute trip and when we embarked was fairly packed, but had emptied out enough for a seat about half way there. A quick taxi ride took us to the Mosque, where we spent a good hour or two taking photos. We had a tour, which we could only do after donning a covering which covered most of our clothes and a head ... read more

31st August 2011 I had mixed feelings while driving on the way to Batang Berjuntai, Selangor. An Indian friend invited me to a Hindu celebration in which I have never seen or heard before. But he warned me that I will have to witness some goats head being chopped off as a sacrifice offering to Lord Muniandy. 40 goats altogether. Expensive for a goat. It cost RM300-450 per goat. The name of the temple is Sri Muniandy Swamialayam. I tried not to attend but my curiosity just couldn't leave me alone. I went with a pounding heart as I got nearer to the temple. So many scary uncertainties crawling into my head. Will I faint when I see a goat's head chopped off? Will i cry with fear? I just do not know what to think ... read more
