So the plan had been to kick in up to Anjuna (famous for its all night parties and rave scene) and jam out with the party crowd there for my last week...I sold new friend John on the idea of a change of venue over beers the night before so I had someone to split the 2.5 hr/40 dollar cab with, rather than the much cheaper (about a buck) but 7 hour long bus option. Some last minute intel had us deciding Arambol, 20 miles north of Anjuna, might be a better target, so off we went. We got in early that afternoon and instantly you could see the contrast from Palolem. Everything from the beach and landscape to the people, the scene, the feel, the food and even the dogs were noticeably different. This beach ... read more

Nameste, I am now in the South of India, in the state of Goa, and what a state I have been in. The journed from Varanassi required me to catch two trains, with a 8 hour wait in between each one. The total jounrney took 59 hours, and I my arse started to leak about 3 hours out of Goa. I had been staying so healthy, but I suspect it was some dodgy train food that did me in. I am now in Arambol, which is right at the top of Northern Goa. I am staying in a bamboo hut which is right on the beachfront. There are worse places to be ill! I was only going to stay for a few days, but as I spent 5 of them cutting a path between said hut ... read more

Well hello there my english countrymen! I do believe it has been quite sometime since we last wrote in the travelblog but we have been very busy partying at the big chill, sunbathing, swimming, watching movies and getting drunk! I think the last place where we left off was in crazy Calungute! So, after Calungute we headed for Palolem where we stayed here for ten days! What lazy bums we are! Here, we didn't really do much but lounged around on the beach and at night we always seemed to head for the same place a 'hip' and 'trendy' 24 hour bar called 'Cafe Del Mar'. Little did we know that this enjoyable little place would cause us so many problems! We met lots of people in Palolem including Tom, Sam and Jack who we are ... read more

People that I'd met along the way had told me I'd like Arambol - it was a bit more laid back, hippyish and less touristy than the rest of Goa. However, being the end of season (they were literally starting to pull down the huts and shacks), it was a little laid back even for me. The preferred activity seemed to be the usual baking on sun beds all day, though I found it a little more challenging to take myself off on walks - of the surrounding bush, adjacent beaches and even a nearby lagoon. I rather foolishly attempted all of this one hot day without any water, not intending to go so far, and found myself stumbling over a rocky headland in thongs, exhausted and dying of thirst (well I was pretty thirsty ... read more

Ah... today i managed to get a well deserved lie in, slept till about 9:30am which was extremly nice and relieving after the night before. We then waddled down to the restaurant to grab some breakfast. After some good strong discussions, we thought that it would be wise to send as much stuff as possible to Australia as we were getting extremely knarked off by lugging very heavy loads. We were not too fussed about the prices of flying half our luggage around the world, as we were more worried about breaking our backs. We first located a small post office down the road, where they said we could actually fly our luggage to Australia (Great relief) at a price of 4000 Rupees, 45 Pounds (Great pain). But we decided it would be for the best. ... read more

why helluuuu there! alice here, long time no speaketh! so i think tarzan left off with little tales of our first moments in Ooty. we had much more fun when our buddies Lenka Lisa and Hester joined us from Bangalore. i can't recall so much what happened on what day so i'll just blab a bit and hopefuly you'll get an idea! Lisa Steve Tara and I went out to a bar on the night of their arrival and met some cool dudes who boogied at a club nearby so we checked that out. that was all quite fun and it looked as though we had just stepped onto the set of save the last dance with us white chicks boogying with the hip hop dudes. anyway, we also went there the next night and ... read more

We awoke to limbs limply hanging off the edge of the bed due to its obvious growth deficiency or something. We removed the msquito net from clinging to every curvature of our sweaty bodies and made for breakfast. After our curious breakfast of masala tea, toast with psychadelic jam and imitation cornflakes with about 100ml of milk to make them slightly less crunchy, we started for the sunshine and beach bikini- clad. Our first sunbathe since arriving in India and even in Goa. The day consisted primarily of attempting to swim in a very choppy sea and negotating with our semi- liquid icecreams that cost too much for what they were but the icecream men spend all day one their bikes up and down the beach, hopelessly ringing their bell in an attempt to summon some ... read more

JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW, I HAVE HAD TO RE-WRITE THIS BLOG 5 TIMES NOW DUE TO BAD COMPUTERS! today we officially moved in to our new appartment . Up the dirt road and to the left you come across Riva Resort, our new habitat for however long. Its a village of bamboo, thereare quite literally only 2 stone built buildings in sight! After packing lazily that morning, due to the small distance we were moving to, we got a cheap taxi for once and arrived at Riva. We were quickly taken to our temporary home, a very bohemian and rustic beach hut on the sea front befriended by a lazy palm tree that had its back broken by windier days we gather we nearly have to step over the drunken tree in order to get ... read more

woke up to goa in daylight which was a pleasant suprise seeing as we were facing a lovely lake, surrounded by a forest with a yoga resort smack bang in the middle of it. The opposite side of the hostel was the sea front with a beach practically deserted and for our pleasure. white sands....hot, lovely! what a change from new delhi! so, we took it easy...like sunday morning on a thursday afternoon. however, disaster struck that evening when tucking into our platters of curry when i found a maggot amongst my rice. how i spotted it, god knows, it all looked like maggots after that! it had been boiled so no disturbing after effects. a little psychologically distressed mind you.... read more
