Sorry this is late, but we're actually in Thailand now! its Jan 3rd today and we've just finished a great couple of weeks on koh phangan with Charlie for Christmas and new year. Our next blog will look amazing- we gaurantee it! Its been a bit of a holiday here, but we cant wait to get back to real Asia. Its our last night tonight (and the full moon party!) so we're gonna be having it large on the beach! We're only just recovered from new year- it was mind blowing (you'll see what we mean from the pics!). Anyway, we'll get that blog on here as soon as we can - more promptly than this, we promise! - but for now, here's some of the stuff we did in Goa! Goa! We arrive in Arambol ... read more

Well its funny how time flies when you're enjoying yourself! Its fair to say that Arambol where I am now is the best place ive been in India and I love it! We are staying in a room above some shops that are literally right on the beach and wake up each morning to look out of the balcony onto the beach below. We are at a far less frantic pace here then we have been on for the rest of the trip and we are all now truly chilled out, i have to pinch myself sometimes to believe I am actually here. So, firstly I will say that Arambol itself is really cool, full of chilled out people - mostly with dread locks and interesting clothes- and it is said that the film The Beach was ... read more

We are now staying in a bamboo beach hut!!!!! on the beach, only about 10 metres away from the sea. Most nights we fall asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on to the sand. Arambol is the most laid back place we've been to so far. Not too much going on, a fairly quiet village which seems to have been slightly taken over by backpackers. We feel a little fresh faced, most have been here for months have acquired long facial hair and dreadlocks. But it's so friendly and we've had the most amazing time. The beach is picture perfect and the sun has shone almost non-stop. In the morning when we're up early enough, we can find crabs popping up all over the place from holes in the sand. Apart from the usual ... read more

If ever I've been taught a lesson about travelling it's been these in the last couple of days. If the stop in Kannur was an unexpected pleasure, then my (brief) sojourn to Palolem in Goa was very much a case of failed expectations. I visited Palolem on a day trip during a holiday in Goa 5 years ago. I couldn't wait to get back and actually stay there. For many Palolem is Goa's most idyllic beach. The villages of bamboo huts are built in the shade of palm tree groves virtually on the beach itself and are filled up with like-minded travellers out to relax and enjoy the laid-back surroundings. Wooden beach shack restaurants serve up fresh seafood and cold beers to be downed in tandem with the setting sun. Or that's the idea anyway. After ... read more

So here i am in Goa, i've been here about a week now, although i must admit its difficult to kepp track of time, the only reason i have any idea is because i have to take my malaria medication on wednesdays! Firstly i'll apologise for the lack of photos, ive learned my lesson that i should take smaller ones, because when i try to upload them it takes forever, then doesnt work, so hopefully next time. Also sorry for any typos, this keyboard is knackered. So, its turned out that the hotel travelo agent was stringing us along, and at about 9.45, an hour before we had to get the train "no problem" (which is the phrase of india) turned into "problem" and we knew we were in Bombay for another night. The next morning ... read more

It has been ages since we last wrote, i could say that it was becasue we have been so busy we haven't had time to think. But the truth of the matter is that we have done very little other than lie about on varioyus beaches in Goa and the thought of computer related activities was unpleasant but here we are... We spent 24 hours on a floating palace on the backwaters of Kerala, floating along like indian princesses being waited on hand and foot. Our day began at 10am when we boarded the boat, all day we languished watching life go by on the banks. Women washe their clothes, beating them on the steps, whilst children splashed about and men climbed coconut plams to collect toddy. Every so often the boat pulled into the bank ... read more

First things first. Any grumbles I have need to be viewed in the context of the fact that I wrote the notes for this entry sat in the shade made by my own bamboo hut, looking out over a beautiful and near-empty sand beach, with the sound of the waves and the palm trees blowing in the wind giving me the natural equivalent of a relaxation tape. In other words, my two days on a beach in Goa might not have been perfect, but that's not to say that they didn't have their upsides... Anyway, I decided on Mandrem beach. Had scouted out a couple of beaches the day before, and it seemed to fall nicely between the concrete and chips of Calungate and Baga, and the irritating hippies of Arambol and Anjuna. The adventure for ... read more

Hello! Have made it down to Goa after an epic train journey from Dehli. Here's what's happened so far: Moday - finally time to make a move so in true backbacker style i accept a lift to the station from my Mum. When I finally get through to departure lounge at Heathrow have a last couple of Stellas before boarding the plane. Slight delay but soon enough we're off. Sat next to some pretentious twat who thinks he's Chris Martin. Thankfully he slept most of the way and I watched Walk in Line which was pretty good. Tuesday - Arrive in Dehli at 11.30 am. Very hot and it stinks of diesel. Pre-booked taxi is waiting which is a huge relief. Make our way to the hotel. The roads are quite frankly unbelievable. Horns going off ... read more
