Well I write this after a lovely couple of days relaxing on the beaches here, Goa is definately completely tourist friendly, its such a break from the hustle and bustle and sometimes quite rude behaviour in the north of India. Here there is loads of beachy things to do, loads of things to buy (eek!) and beautiful food to eat. My stay in Goa hasn't been completely smooth though, as I mentioned in the last entry I started to feel quite unwell en route, and I actually ended up having the full diarrhoa and vomiting on the flight down to goa. By the time I arrived in Goa I could not face going any more than 5 miles from the airport. So i ended up staying in a little place called Bogmalo, which was like a ... read more

Four years ago we moved to London and celebrated my birthday and a house warming all together. The leap year is around and it was again time for my birthday – my 8th! So after four years the 29th of February was back on the calendar! Which meant that after three years of two (or none at all) days for people to congratulate me I was finally looking forward to THE day! But it was not to be. My mum sent me an email two days earlier, on the 27th. At least from my mum I would expect it on the right day. But a day later it got even worse! Facebook, one of the biggest companies in the world, employing thousands upon thousand of geeks does not have a single person capable of figuring out ... read more

WE TOOK THE TRAIN SOUTH TO PANIJI, the capital of Goa, and spent the night there since we arrived late at night. We didn’t have a hotel booked but luckily we made a friend on the train who was willing to drive us around to a couple of places until we found one. Paniji is exactly the type of town Gabriel Garcia Marquez would write about - full of crumbling Portuguese mansions and thick palm groves. In the morning after a lunch of fresh fish and white rice we took a local bus to the hippie beach town of Arambol. As soon as we climbed off the bus we realized we were in a very different India. Tanned bodies blitzed by on motorbikes and the scent of patchouli punctuated the air. Cafes, bars, and stores selling ... read more

Palolem in Goa = Amazing! I was so pleased to finally be in Goa after hearing so many good things about it!! We found what can only be described as a wonky shed on stilts to stay in! It had great character but everything was on a slant to the right- as they put everything in the room on the right hand side. After thinking it was going to fall down the owner reassured me it was meant to be that way... hmm, i wasnt so sure! We stayed in our hut for 4 nights, woke up and went to sleep listening to the sound of the waves every day! Went for a swim in the sea before breakfast most days too. Reluctantly, we had to leave the beach paradise and board a night bus to ... read more

Juhuuu, Sonne, Strand und Meer! Endlich bin ich in Goa! Hab so lang drauf gewartet!

Well unashamedly we did nothing in these last few days. We managed to get some good sunbathing, ate quite a lot, had more henna done, Laura had a wax- just lots of general pampering and preening. Goa has a real hippy feel about it, there´s nothing to do but relax and chill out in a hammock. I had the best prawns ever there. On the second day we were sunbathing from 12 until 5pm- I was liberally applying the sun cream...every half an hour- determined to be bronzed, not burnt. About 5pm we left the beach because we were both feeling ´hot´. I got into the shower and I was a complete lobster. Burnt to a crisp where my bikini had been. I had been dousing myself alright- dousing myself in Factor 15- not 30 which ... read more

So we finally reached the resort, ate (during all this travel we didn't as much as we probably should have), then showered and put our bikinis straight on! We're staying in a beach hut right on the beach so we can hear the sea from our room. It's very basic and reminds me a lot of Ko Phangan in Thailand. Lots of nice restaurants and full of sun tanned, beautiful young people. Me and Laura are appealing only to the Indian eye...and that's because we're still so gad damn white! We went to bed in our bikinis and with sand stuck in our hair...I imagine this will be us for the next 3 days now. My inner Gypsy has surfaced! The next few days will be boring, we're doing nothing but reading and sunbathing so I ... read more

It has been a while since I felt like writing. Long time since I felt like trying to verbalize anything. One of our teachers said that intuition is the the flash of a match in a dark room. In one brief moment all is illuminated. This does not come from without, but from within. In one instant, all that you were ceases to exist as the illusions and false beliefs that carried you melt away. Perhaps I can try to summarize a few main truths I have picked up: 1. Ultimately we must stop running, turn around and face our fear. 2. Look yourself in the mirror and drop the beliefs. 3. Know where your power comes from. 4. Asana without pranayama is like running on an endless hamster wheel with no end. 5. I am ... read more

We are now in Goa!!! In some respects it is exactly what I thought it would be and in others it is still quite traditional. We are in the far north in Arunbol, a place that is full of long haired, drealocked g string wearing yoga loving vegetarian misfits!! I have the idea some people come here to visit and never leave again they also never shave or have a haircut again!! It has its charm and the beaches are lovely and we have eaten some of the best food we have had in India but it is a little to western for me! The contrast from other places is huge, here everyone wheres bikinis etc but on all the other beaches in Karantaka and Kerala it is wiser to wear shorts and T.shirts, the Indian ... read more

Week two is now behind us and I celebrated with a cashew curry dinner surrounded by reveling Ruskies. Then I headed to a house party with a one colour costume theme. Upon arrival I was requested to pull a paper from the pot which we would later be requested to act/be. I was to touch everones third eye. When the bell rang I of course was parked next to dodgy baba, who played his part very well. To my amazement dodgy baba was born three days before me in the same year. No wonder he was such a creeper. Uranus/mars in the 8th house is a recipe for tantric weirdo baba. Thank god I am a woman ;). After a couple hours of dancing and a lovely tarot reading I headed home in the dark at ... read more
