bad news 12 Jul 2004 Hongkong After the 4 months trip and an unexpected home coming. Here is my conclusion for the journey. For India…as a lot of people said…you love it and hate it. But for me…I think I don’t hate it but I definitely don’t like it! But it help me realized something new about China. I used to complained and rebuked about many thing in China, not agree with many decision which made by the communist government. But after the Indian trip, I began to appreciated what we already had in China, our government actually was doing something to its people, we did something for the environment no matter how minimum it was, the country seem clean and smelless which compare with India while they claimed their country is 20 years ahead of ... read more

Yet again i'm in the dodgy looking second flood internet cafe... internet for $1.40AUD per hour.... hours of fun.  Well i'd have to say that besides shopping, i havn't done much else. We went to HK island yesterday to do the touristy thing, besides the trams, a few funny shop names ("WANKO" gets a special mention) and just more shopping there hasn't been much else to do.    Here's an imcomplete list of all the things i've baught.  - Astro Boy Wallet, - Astro Boy figure set, - 4 pairs of CK underwear (fake as i've found out), - 3 ties, - 1 bottle cover thingy, - 10 blank MDs, - 6 VCDs, - A mountain of the best food i've ever eaten, - an Octopus card, - a Pair of Teva slippers, - ECKO shorts, - Small ... read more

What am amazing place. I think our first challenge arrived in the form of the Hong Kong airport. For those of you who don't know, the airport here has 70+ gates, and is divided into completely separate buildings, so you have different building around which the planes park... so how do u get to the main entrance?? you go downstairs to a level that's underground, and then u stand there for a long time and wonder why u've ended up in a big room with 1 wall that's seethrough glass. And then this train comes out of a tunnel and the glass doors open... yes, there is an underground train that takes you to the main terminus. They thaught Kate was dodgy (something we've always believed) and she was tested to see if she had a ... read more

Sunday 25th April Chengdu – Lhasa Our bus departs at 1115am, so we had the luxury of a sleep in this morning. We both needed it and slept well. Our tickets to Tibet originally cost Y3250 ($722) but ticket prices were lowered due to public demand so we were given Y230($51) back this morning, which was an unexpected bonus. The bus to the airport took about 30 minutes and we arrived at 1150am. We went through airport security (in a bit of a flap as we thought our flight left at 1215pm but it left at 1245pm). We are flying Air China and it seems we are not sitting together. Tony on one end of the aisle and I on the other with two people in between. The guy next to Tony moved so now we ... read more

Well it’s finally arrived – the day we have waited for and saved for so long is now here. Woke about half an hour before the alarm was due to go off - 6.15am – but with still so many little jobs to do I’m glad I did. Mum & Dad arrived right on time, 8am and we were ready to go. Tony’s day started with him slamming his middle finger in the car boot – OUCH – as he loaded up the backpacks. By 8.05 am we were on our way down the world’s most boring & frustrating road, North East. Peak hour traffic didn’t help our cause, but we still managed to get to Adelaide Airport with plenty of time to spare. Checking in was easy – my backpack weighs 12.9 kilos, Tony’s about ... read more

I finally saw HK. This city never sleeps. I'm finally updating this entry. Today is February 2008. This trip was back in 2004! Hopefully, I can remember most of what happened. HK was part of my Taiwan/HK trip with my friend Sam and his wife Teresa. Our stay in HK was short - maybe 3~4 days. After arriving in Hong Kong Internal Airport, Sam, Teresa, and I took a private car to the hotel courtesy of the hotel. The hotel was located somewhere near Kowloon and Yau Ma Tei. This was a time for Sam and Teresa to rekindle their relationship. As such, my time in HK was pretty much solo. And I'm perfectly fine with that. One of the first things I did was to learn the layout of the city. I spent most of ... read more

Hong Kong. A city of eclectic tastes, cultures, races, beliefs, lifestyles and colour. This was our destination for our Honeymoon. What a wonderful choice. We loved Hong Kong, China and Macau. We both liked different things about each. We enjoyed the vibrancy of the area, that it seems to never sleep, there is always something going on. We enjoyed the richness of the area as well as the markets and stalls run by everyday people. We had fun communicating with people who didn't know our language and we didn't know theirs. Relationships were established through gesture and smiles. Smiles speak all languages, and laughter speaks all languages as well. Despite the fact our communication was limited with some people, we had the ability to laugh with people and about ourselves. We ate where the locals ate, ... read more

I needed a rest after a hectic year in the office with so much projects here and there! We decided to go to Hong Kong and check out Ocean Park. We got a nice package from Philippine Airlines through their SwingAround Promo. This was my second time in HongKong but first time with my family. We chose Ramada Hotel Kowloon side because it's affordable and has acceptable bed and bath rooms. Also, it's near the shopping area at the center of Tsimshatsui. We took the early flight so we could still have the whole afternoon in exploring Kowloon side. We were so excited since it was our first time to go abroad together as a family that we took pictures while still in the airport. Upon arrival at Hong Kong airport, we went to our meet ... read more
