I needed a rest after a hectic year in the office with so much projects here and there!
We decided to go to Hong Kong and check out Ocean Park. We got a nice package from Philippine Airlines through their SwingAround Promo.
This was my second time in HongKong but first time with my family. We chose Ramada Hotel Kowloon side because it's affordable and has acceptable bed and bath rooms. Also, it's near the shopping area at the center of Tsimshatsui.
We took the early flight so we could still have the whole afternoon in exploring Kowloon side. We were so excited since it was our first time to go abroad together as a family that we took pictures while still in the airport. Upon arrival at Hong Kong airport, we went to our meet and greet area and were led to our bus transfer to hotel. The bus ride from the airport to the hotel was a bit long but the view was refreshing.
After settling in our hotel, it was time for lunch and I remembered when it was my first time in Hong Kong last 1999, we ate at a Chinese restaurant where
Kowloon Park fountain
Rocky frolicking around the food was good. So we went there at Cameron Road and we ordered dimsum, our favorite SIOMAI and my favorite Chicken Feet. They accepted my credit card but we had to order a minimum of HK$200.
Off we went and walked, and walked until we reached Nathan Road where we saw a row of stalls and went into a camera shop. Good thing we brought our new digital camera, a Sony Cybershot. When we showed the Hong Kong man our old analog camera, a Minolta, he declared it irreparable. We just then bought a 128mb Memory Stick for our new camera so we can store larger amount of pictures.
Behind Nathan lane is Kowloon Park. We enjoyed the park with the pigeons, the aviary pond and the playground. We saw a lot of Hong Kong kids with their Filipina nannies. Am proud of them thinking that these Hong Kong parents trust Filipinas in taking care of their precious kids..
Rocky got sleepy and we carried him while walking. We got tired and ended in McDonald's and stayed there for awhile. We took the MTR to Admiralty and took a bus going up Victoria Peak, we did
Ocean Park
Rocky wishing he could ride... not take the Peak tram. It was a different and dizzy ride though. When we arrived at the Peak it was already night time. Since it was Christmas season, Christmas lights were everywhere, Victoria Peak was indeed a wonderful sight. At the observation deck, we were awed by the night-scape view. Wow! It was breathtaking though I have seen it already..I was still awed by the sight of lights of Hong Kong skyscrapers. Inside the Peak Tower, we then checked Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum but we didn't get in. We went down from the Peak, this time using the Peak Tram.
Next day, we planned to go to Ocean Park. But before that, we needed to have breakfast and since it was included in our vacation package, why not avail of it? Indicated in our coupon was the name of the restaurant and so there we went. We walked, and walked, and walked from our hotel to the restaurant but couldn't find it. We tried walking around the block of the restaurant. Finally we found the entrance which was just a hole in the wall (gush..) of the restaurant which was on the 2nd floor (ha!). Anyway,
Ferry Ride
Ferry Ride from Kowloon side to HongKong side Dennis and I ate there, observing people, planning on what to do next, how to go to places, etc. Then we had to take out ("take away" as they call it there) the kids' breakfast.
We took the ferry to go to Hong Kong side. It was a nice experience for everyone. We had a nice view of Hong Kong Island from the ferry. We bought ice cream for Rocky and Bea then took the bus to Ocean Park. We did not know that eating was prohibited in the bus. We let Rocky hide low behind the seat so the bus driver won't see him eating. We were amazed in seeing a lot of expensive cars on the road. At the Ocean Park, we did not take other rides but rode the cable car. It was a cool experience especially with Rocky who was making himself brave while looking down..We enjoyed touring the Aquarium and watching the dolphin show.
Before going home, we went to the Ocean Terminal to buy toys for Rocky at the Toys R Us store. At the Ocean Terminal we saw a car show, the Star Cruises port, and Indian man who turned out
Bea and Rocky
inside Ocean Park to be a fortune teller. Ha! Dennis was forced to talk to him and as a courtesy gave him a token.
In the airport, Dennis and Rocky had a photo op with Miss Philippines 2003 who was very beautiful and gorgeous. To our dismay and at the same time joy, our plane was delayed but the airline gave us dinner tickets for free. We ate to our hearts content all the food we bought with those dinner tickets.
We enjoyed our plane ride home as we played with newly bought Pictionary and Junior Monopoly.
This was a family vacation abroad that cannot be forgotten....
