Two Hours after leaving Durbs I found myself in CT where the weather was pleasently hot but no where near as humid as Durban. Ahhh I wouldn't need to wash my clothes every 10 minutes on account of them going damp with sweat. Ahhh. Cape Town. So many things to do. Robben Island. Table Mountian, Cape Aguilar (Africa's southern most point) Cape Point (where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet), Shark Diving... First up was baggage claim then the trip to Ashanti where I was to spend the next three nights. Unlike the other places I had stayed at this was bigger and had more of a party atmosphere. Hello all, The latest entry in our blog is coming from Mossel Bay a 6 hour bus journey east of Cape Town, but before we tell you about that we said we would tell you about our day trip to Robben Island! We bought our tciket the day before as this trip is very popular, and we could see why. Before boarding the ferry we walked around the exhibiton which explained about Nelson Mandela and apartheid. Once we had boarded our ferry it was a forty minute trip to the island. Once we had docked and got off the ferry we hopped on to a bus for a tour around the island, stopping at points of intrest such as the lepar graveyard and the limestone quarry, where the political prisoners were sent to work. Feb. 8,2006 I was in a better mood this morning, I should have written then. I think Maggie and I are both suddenly having a moment of homesickness. That’s to be expected of course, but today it’s intensified by Maggie’s stress over the amount of homework she now has, and mine is intensified by her stress and two glasses of wine. I haven’t had any bad wine yet, I’ll say that. The white wines have been particularly refreshing in this heat, and there have been a couple lovely roses. We had a particularly yummy red last Sunday: from Lourensford, vintage 2003, that Mum had got a good price on at one of her craft fairs. January 6, 2006 Our flight arrived in Cape Town right on time, and even after an eleven hour flight, we were pumped and ready to go. We got one of the backpackers’ shuttles into the city center and checked in at the hostel. Lucky for us, we were early, as the hostel had promised three groups a double room, and there was only one available. After snatching it up, we locked our stuff in the storage room, and headed out to discover Cape Town. We couldn’t get into our room, so we were still dressed in our Milan clothes, and felt grubby and hot. We were also still wearing our running shoes, and the blisters on our feet were not too happy.
