Wednesday 17th arrive Auckland New Zealand Another night sleep missed and behind me I arrived in Auckland. Waiting for me was my dear friend Martin whom I have not seen for 18 months. I was so pleased to see him at 5-30 Picked up by Martin at 05-30 in the morning. Although tired I was buzzing another great new City and Country to explore. Martin is very proud of his Country and was eager to show me the sites. As it was early it was easy to get around and see the Coty quite quickly and this was a fantastic sight as the sun came up. Auckland is situated on a small land mass that is surrounded by water and at the same time is surrounded by several hills. We drove to the hills for the ... read more

hello and sorry for lack of blog items - been busy partying and then finding myself a job! After a very long flight from Glasgow via Dubai and Bangkok i finally made it back to Sydney on Xmas morning. Laura came to meet me at the airport which was great and then after a quick shower it was over to Lynette's place for Xmas Dinner. She was a great host and we had roast chicken and loads of veg. Lynette's friends Jo, Carson and Niamh celebrated with us too. After alot of bubbles and some vodka we headed down to Bondi with our Santa hats. Chilling out on the beach was great cos i was shattered. When the sun went down we headed to a bar and then a house party before i finally passed out ... read more

On the 17th we left Colville and headed to Whitianga, which is a favorite holiday spot for Kiwis. Once arriving we relaxed at our hostel the Cats Pyjamas. The next day we headed out to Cathedral Cove. After a 45 min drive to the parking lot it was a 35 min walk to Cathedral Cove. Along the way we stopped at Gem Bay in hopes to do some snorkeling but the water was to rough and murky to see anything. And the fact that we got covered in fish eggs was not a major selling point either. So we continued onto Cathedral Cove, and once there we set up shop to do some sun tanning. But it was more like sun burning, after not seeing sun for 5 yrs skin tends to burn to a nice ... read more

Well I've now been in Sydney since the 28th December so this is definitely the longest time I have been in one place throughout my travels. Can you believe it has been over 4 months now? Anyway, was sad to see you guys back home are having severe storms at the moment. I know what you mean about adverse weather, it's just to bloody hot over here at the moment and way too sunny, all this squinting is making my eyes sore, and you think you've got it tough with a little wind! Ok, so where was I? Sydney is pretty cool, I definitely preferred to be on the move but its nice to just be in one place and get to know it rather than just passing through. So much to do here, great nightlife, ... read more

Well after all my talk I finally did it, took the plunge and broke away from the group, its just me and my jalopy, Louis, for the next couple of weeks and I'm loving it! Have just arrived in Airlie Beach, about 1,500kms from where I left the others and am all excited about boarding The Clipper to cruise the Whitsundays in the morning. I'm not long back from a three day tour of the fantastic Fraiser Island, the world's largest sand island....think the desert island out of Lost. I spent three very sunny days there traveling as part of a very multi cultured group of 10...3 South American girls, 1 Brazilian, 3 German guys, a Frenchie and an Isralie (we were a very multicultural group) in a safari style 4x4 up the island taking in ... read more

We were back in Melbourne after another overnight on the XPT for the start of the 1 Day cricket series. As the Australian press put it with the advent of this series and the Twenty20....now for some real Pommie bashing..... and so it proved, as Gilchrist in particular proceeded to test the catching skills of the 78,625 crowd. After the contest the became irrelevant, the so called "feral minority" of the cricketing public (probably numbering 20,000) proceeded to make everybody's life uncomfortable by hurling plastic beer glasses (not always empty) and other debris to hand during the irritating Mexican waves. We thought it best to change sports at this point - so it was off to the Australian Open tennis. The qualifying rounds at Melbourne Park are free and in amongst the hopefuls scrambling for the ... read more

Hey all... How has everyone been?? I have noticed how many people are recieving our blogs, and how many people are actually commenting and sending messages...Im less than impressed....do better!!! NOW!! I think we left you off in Wellington. Well it was a nice little city as I said I believe. We went to the Te Papa museum, which is the national museum of New Zealand. Now most of you who know us, know that unless a war was being fought, I am not that interested in History. And Jen, well Jen doesnt like me liking wars, and like history even less...Especially the arty type stuff. However, this musuem is probably the coolest museum I have ever been to because it is so interactive and modern. We felt what it was to be in an earthquake, ... read more

Sydney -Sunday We left on Sunday to go south of Sydney along the coast taking in Stanwell Park, Bulli Pass Wollongong,Gerringong and Bowral,Eddie doing the driving. At Stanwell Prak stopped to see the Hang Gliders and Para Gliders, rather them than me, and view the magnificent Stanwell Park Beach. Then moved onto Woollangong (some amazing names ,probably Aboriginal). Three canons were placed here in in1880as part of the defence of the harbour.they fired a 31kg solid shot ball up to 1600 metres, they were manned by the local citizens of NSW. It was then back in the car onto 7 Mile Beach (Australia is now metric but 11.2klms Beach doesn't sound the same ) at Gerringong to the Fisherman's Club for lunch.I treated myself to Oysters ,very good, mm. After lunch passed through Kangaroo Valley and stopped off ... read more

Well, we survived!! Today after a long recovering night of sleep we thought we'd give a quick update of the last few days on the largest sand island in the world - and also Jill's birthday! What i thought would be a macho 3 days of driving a 4x4 was slightly dampened by the fact the jeeps were painted bright PINK!! This was so they could be easily identified (and they could definitely be) apparently! The first day (Sunday) we did the group shopping and faced a race against time to get to the barge due to some key problems! I then had to reverse park the 4x4 on the barge at breakneck speeds to keep the not so friendly barge staff from screaming at me - this was a terrifying experience! We then heading along ... read more
