As I have now nearly come to the end of my adventure I thought I would try and just add more pics and less verbals so what have attempted to do is post a site where you can view the pictures I have taken on my last stop before I leave for the UK and view as you wish. Let’s hope it comes off. I have now been away for 6 months, yes hard to believe .it was an amazing experience, covered 60,000klms via air some 24 flights. 17,500 klms by car I have some wonderful memories and I have my blog with 5,000 photos to look back on in future years. I still find it difficult to accept it’s nearly over and I will be back in Tenerife shortly and back to reality. It ... read more

Awoke this morning to find it reasonably bright so decided to do the city tour north towards Harlem past Central Park. However within 1/2hour down came the rain fortunately only light rain. As we approached Harlem the rain stopped. interesting Harlem is the only area on Manhattan Island where the roads are not laid out in a grid system more like Europe all higgledy-de -piggledy we past a very impressive Roman Catholic Church (aren’t they always ) and onto the famous area where there are theatres where many of the great musicians started their careers. Then spotted some local bikers from there we viewed the Hotel Theresa where Castro stayed as a snub to the Yanks when he went to New York 40odd years ago for talks, they expected him to stay at the Waldorf ... read more

HISTORY The Two Sisters America probably could not have won its freedom from the British during the American Revolution without the help of the French. France provided arms, ships, money and men to the American colonies. Some Frenchmen - most notably the Marquis de Lafayette, a close friend of George Washington - even became high-ranking officers in the American army. It was an alliance of respect and friendship that the French would not forget. Almost 100 years later, in 1865, after the end of the American Civil War, several French intellectuals, who were opposed to the oppressive regime of Napoleon III, were at a small dinner party. They discussed their admiration for America's success in establishing a democratic government and abolishing slavery at the end of the civil war. The dinner was hosted by Edouard ... read more

The building, at 175 Fifth Avenue, sits on a triangular island block at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue, and Broadway, facing Square. Then continued down 5th Avenue people watching. The tour bus guide really singing the praises of N.Y. with very heavy hints ... read more

My first impression of New York is that it never sleeps, you can get virtually anything at any time .i was staying at the Latham Hotel for 2 nights so I had to think also about further accommodation wasn’t prepared to stay any longer there as half the hotel was being occupied by single mothers with loads of rug rats ,I was paying $100 a night !I wanted more from the hotel. Decided to look further later in the day the only thing really in its favour was the location. Just off 5th Avenue. And round the corner was that Icon the Empire State Building The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in New York, NY. Its name is derived from the nickname for the state of New York. It stood as ... read more

Left Kingman early and headed towards Las Vegas .After two hours driving on cruise control I was in good time ,At this point I arrived at the Hoover dam Hoover Dam is a testimony to a country's ability to construct monolithic projects in the midst of adverse conditions. Built during the Depression; thousands of men and their families came to Black Canyon to tame the Colorado River. It took less than five years, in a harsh and barren land, to build the largest dam of its time. Now, years later, Hoover Dam still stands as a world-renowned structure. The Dam is a National Historic Landmark and has been rated by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of America's Seven Modern Civil Engineering Wonders It is a enormous structure ,when you first arrive it ... read more

One of the things I have always wanted to see is the Grand canyon in Arizona.a natural wonder of the world. So I hired a car and firstly headed for the Somna and Napa Valleys to sample the wine, stopped overnight. Found a unusual place to stay with a French type atmosphere and very pretty accommodation. . The following day on my way to Arizona and the Grand Canyon, it would take 2/3 days to get t there. Well getting out of Napa was a real nightmare the direction are hopeless so I got completely lost and lost several hours before I managed to get on the right route. Traveled most of the day nothing really of much interest as you leave California for Nevada and it’s desert and by 21-30 had had enough and pulled ... read more
