Hi again all, I'm currently in Nadi, waiting for my flight tonight. I take off at 22:00 on the 27th and land at 13:15 on the same day! It's going to be a long day.. Anyhow, back to what I've been upto: Whilst on Waya Lai Lai I went on a hand fishing trip with some people I met, I didn't catch anything but most the others did - there were some really good size fish coming out too! Bounty island is quite different from the other 2 I visited, you can walk around the whole island in about 10 minutes and it's visited by day trippers. Whilst on Bounty I took the opportunity to do some diving in the area. First, on the Sunday I dived the wreck on an American B26 Bomber which crashed ... read more

Hi all, Just a quick note to let you know i'm in Fiji now! In Taupo I couldn't get on the crossing, but did a few good walks to see craters of the moon, the volcanic activity center and climbed a mini mountain (far too fast!). I arrived in Nadi yesterday, to a guy at the airport who's job seemed to be to greet anyone looking like a backpaker, stick a shell necklace around thier neck and point them towards the correct pickup for their hostel! After settling in and getting some dinner (freshly caught fish and mash!), whilst being asked if I needed more water/tea etc by 'Mama' and her staff. One of the staff joins me, before I leave for bed he reminds me that there's free tea and breakfast in the morning - ... read more

Bula! Apologies for the late entry, we've gotten lazy since we got to the US. Heres what happened in Fiiji.. When we arrived we were more than happy to discover how hot it was after 2 weeks spent in wintery Australia. We were picked up by the nice hotel man and taken to Bluewater Lodge which was in Nadi (pronounced Nandi) which was really lovely and had a pool so we were quite happy there for the next few days. Although the beach there was black sand so not as aluring as imagined. But on the monday we were off to the Yasawas Islands to stay on a few resorts the next week. This involved getting a boat from the port and choosing which islands we wanted to go to. We had bought a Bula Pass ... read more

right we have been in fiji nearly a week and havnt actually been on a beach yet which is a little disappointing but have been staying with extended family which has been great fun and here sia small run down of a few things that have happened (none too earthshatering but amusing to us all the same) a) i saw one of the worlds largest cockroaches on the pavement and decided to squash it with a rock, then it was still alive. then the neighbours cat ate its insides. and despite tha fact that all was left was the two wings and a leg, the leg still moved! but then it stopped. that one certainly wont be surviving any nuclear wars. b) me and tasha got taken to an indian wedding which was pretty exciting, although ... read more

After 4 days of nothing but laying in the sun we got back on our boat....only this time is was raining out and we got soaked by the time we made it to the big boat. Then poor Jenn had to take Gravol due to how crazily the boat was swaying back and forth. We stayed at the Nadi Bay Hotel. We shared a room with 3 girls from England. The Hotel had the best fish I have ever eaten and cats roamed free which clearly made me happy (but made me miss Sage...you didn't get rid of her did you Dad?) There were banana trees and the weather was very hot The last night we were there we were asked to switch rooms and ended up in a dorm of about 10. Nadi itself was ... read more

Hello We've not done any updates for a while - Fiji didnt have the fastest internet connections and Bali was very laid back so we decided to leave it until now - so this rather large entry is coming to you from our Hostel in Singapore. Fiji we had a great time in Fiji and experienced different sides to the country. landing in Nadi airport we managed to blag some free transport to our hostel for the night. Hostel was ok but we had been put in a room with the squeekest bunkbeds and right next to the main dining and tv room so we didnt get much sleep. No worries as we were off to Beachcomber island the next day. We caught the island hopper ferry and arrived at beachcomber where it decided to chuck ... read more

Bula!! we have been without the internet for over a week so sorry if this is rushed! On Monday night a Ngaio's it was "Family Night", which meant all of us going for a walk along the beach in the rain and getting completely soaked and sandy! However it was a good chance to get to know them before we leave tomorrow! Back at the house we ate an interesting dinner of croissants, pasta and sausages, which neither of us particularly liked, joined by her neighbour and her two young boys. (The neighbour had bought cheese cake which we were delighted about, however they forgot to defrost it so we ateit frozen... not so good!) We managed to watch a bit of T.V. and get some reading time in before heading to bed. Tuesday we spent ... read more

As we were arriving in Fiji late in the evening we had already planned to stay a couple of nights on the outskirts of Nadi town at a hostel called smugglers cove. They offered us a free pick up from the airport and having landed and got our bags we found the bus and waited for a few others to arrive. It was nice to sit in the warm evening in contrast to how cold NZ had been!!! The trip to our hostel took only 10 minutes and within minutes of checking in we went to look at the beach. The hostel had a nice pool and decked area right next to the beach but as it was already dark it was too hard to tell what the beach was actually like. On our way into ... read more

Hi I have now arrived in Fiji after a more laid back last few days in New Zealand all be it with a lot of travelling involved. The night after Fly by Wire me, Nicole, Kathrin and team Sweeden (named by bus driver Jono) all hung out in team Sweedens room and just had a fun few hours. The next morning me and team Sweeden headed to Milford Sounds. It took about 5 hours to get there along some really impressive roads with lots of mountains many of which were snow capped. Milford Sounds is not actually that far from Queenstown its just the roads do not go directly there. When we got to the Sound (actually a ford) we got on our cruise, ate to much of the buffet lunch and then went out on ... read more
