HEy everyone... sorry its been a few days i've been on a resort up in RakiRaki (the north part of Viti LEvu...the main island in fiji) learning how to scuba dive! its been so amazing i've gone out like every day for the past few days....the water is an amazing 28 degrees and i've seen everything from cute little nemos to big red coral fans, sea cucumbers and underwater caves! Anyway now i'm a certified diver (chris if you're reading this we can go diving some time when i get home if you're still into it!) i got a last dive in this morning before i left but to be honest it was probably a good thing to move on this morning....just too much beer and some kiwi boys that liked to party hard.....lol! today we ... read more

After the best nights sleep I've had in the past week and another nice hot shower we decide to head out to Nadi town. We catch the local bus (an experince in itself, all the little children were staring at us because we were white - quite funny!) and after asking a local where the shops were he kindly escorts us into town. We find out he is actually an off duty police man and he tells us to watch our bags and only ask people wearing a uniform for advice. Its strange as even though the town does look a bit slummy, it doesn't feel that dangerous. However we're not taking any chances and head his advice. As we're walking around we bump into the Swedish older couple that we're on the Western Xposure tour ... read more

Not really much to report today. Checked out of our room, had a quick last wander before heading to the airport for our flight to FIJI!! The flight over wasn't too bad and on arrival we got a free transfer to our hostel. One thing that we do notice is the amount of Mosquito's there are here - lucky we packed our spray then! After checking in, we try to do some laudry whilst spending 4 hours updating our blog from Australia (oh well, it's worth it). Early night tonight as we are going on a tour of the islands tomorrow - looking forward to some relaxation!... read more

Hey hey! so i made it to fiji finally after my plane was delayed! i did get to stay a night in the Hilton though but felt pretty ghetto having to do my laundry in t he sink...the flight was 11 hours so it was pretty long but i'm here..we had some champagne on the plane to celebrate the new years but mostely i slept and watched movies....anyways you probably won't hear much from me until after the 21st because the internet is sooooooooooo slow here and soooooo expensive...phone calls are pretty unreasonable too at 10 minutes for 11 dollars...but i'll try and stay in touch as much as possible...so far everything is beautiful minus the obnoxious americans i had to endure on the bus ride over but thank god i think they leave tomorrow....ok so ... read more

04/12/07 The routine was un-changed, early start, sandy fly rainstorm, de-camped in no time, headed off in the van with sand flies spewing out the windows.........job done. It showed that even the worst tasks can offer you some satisfation, and even the thought of doing it again didn't dampen the spirits. By half 7 we had arrived in a car park over-looking the lake, got a brew on, chowed down on some breakfast and chatted about jobs (Pathetic eh. We don't need to but with only 2 weeks to go the mind starts wandering. At least we've put work in perspective and i've definitely re-ignited my passion for working my crack off, whilst Amy is looking forward to a new bean-counting challenge.....). We made full use of the public toilets which had just been cleaned and ... read more

Nadi, Fiji From Sun 11th 2007 Arrived in Fiji. Lost a full day as crossed the internation time line / zone thing! (i didnt feel a day older???). Was greetedat the airport arrivals terminal by a group of big smily fijians dressed traditionally playing the guitar and singing us a fijian welcome song. Was really really nice. Went through into arrival halls and there were about 8 people (tour operaters). I went to the first 1 and shed pass me to the 2nd one and the 2nd would be pass me to the 3rd and so on and so on. Not sure why the first one couldnt just say walk down in that direction for 10 yards and sit on the bench until everyone gets here?? OK well first off on the flight from reg town to minny, randomly my friend from high school ( Aiden Mula) who was on his way to Japan was on the same flight and also had a lengthy layover so we went for lunch and walked around the airport to kill time until his flight, which was awesome, then to LAX which was a freaking circus for 6 hours which wasnt very fun, then a 10 hour flight to Nadi which allso wasnt very fun, got there at 6 am, got to the hostel which was nice, starting talking to 2 british dudes which i have been hanging out with x 2 days now. Just chilled by the pool yesterday got brown, had a few cocktails, aslo met a few welsch ladies who were staying in ... read more

After a delayed flight from Sydney we finally arrived in Fiji to be greeted by a Fijian group of musicians in floral shirts playing christmas carols! That cerainly put a smile on our faces after a long flight. There is not really a lot ot say about Fiji because we were not there that long and were staying in a quite isolated location. At times we found it quite boring as there was not a lot to do but fortunately we made quite a few friends around the bar! Whilst in Fiji we basically chilled out but to get away one day we headed to the town via a local bus. The local bus was cheap but a bumpy ride, a 60 year old bus and gravel tracks do not mix well! The town itself was ... read more

Day started bright and early with a 4:50am wake up call. We were at the airport by 5:45am, and sitting comfortably in the Air New Zealand lounge by 6. Quite the spread at this lounge - with a full hot breakfast and coffee bar, mutiple PSP stations available for use, computers, the works. We have really been enjoying traveling on Air New Zealand - I think dan would defect from united if the flew more conveniently for us! Flight to Nadi (or Nandi - you will see it written and said both ways) was nice and easy. Watched a movie, had some food, and read a little and we were there bright and early about 10am (with the time change). Since we had some time before our connecting flight - 2pm, we decided to take a ... read more
