I arrive in Fiji on June 20th @ about 7pm. I met a girl named Mary-Lou on my flight and later found out we were staying at the same hotel. We found our beds and got settled and then we went down to the bar for a drink. We met three aussies and decided to go anf have a drink with them at the locals bar Ed's. That was a bunch of fun, but I decided to call it an early night. I chilled at the beach the next day and just wrote in my journal and read a bit of my book while taking it all in. Hi y'all, Greetings from NZ - been a bit slack with the blog as actually left Fiji 5 days ago but we are still been running on 'Fiji time' (if you ever go to Fiji, you'll know what this is!). So, you know the saga of the lost bags - we arrived in Fiji from the USA at 5am, very tired, still a bit hungover from birthday celebrations and also having lost a day after crossing the international date line. After filling in various luggage forms for a man that didn't really seem to be fussed, we managed to hitch a ride with a 'Fiji experience' tour bus to our hotel. Fiji - not for the weak

I decided against taking pictures in Fiji. By the time I landed it was night time in Nadi. I decided to go and stay in a backpacker's hostel for $35 for the night plus another $15 for drinks. It has been an interesting 12 hours in this country and I can not wait to go to Auckland. This place is lawless and untamed, the locals are nice but there is a look in their eyes that is unnerving and chills the spine. The hostel I stayed at was not professional, but it was nice and sweet. I lived in a small villa house, something you would see on a commercial for the Caribbean. The hostel was filled with travelers, mostly from Europe, who barely spoke a word to me. Britts are not the nicest of people ... read more

Bula Everyone. Sorry for the lack of communication from Fiji. We have been travelling through the Islands to the North of the main land and they have no communication links other than radio/walkie talkie. We have arrived back on the main land waiting to leave tomorrow for Oz. We have spent time on 4 different islands starting from the very basic (Hut- (Bure) with a bed and sharing with many diffent insects and lizards, (much to Kel's delight). To then moving on to more luxary accomdation which included a fan. Islands absoulutely beautiful and people very friendly, and genuine and very happy to see you and happy to help, always laugh and smiling.
