Well after realising that i could not do the online check in i was dreading the seats that we were going to get. Today we decided to chill out and go for a walk down to the grove which i mentioned before and found a sneaky little market; Farmers Market, in there seliing all sorts of things and foods. Well put it this was there was a sticker shop. a shop full of different stickers. COOL!...but no i didnt buy any. We then walked down to Farm Foods which is a kind of supermarket but has a kind of help yourself and then they charge you on the weight. We decided to get some good foods in us, charmaine had a salad with hot chicken, and i had greek salad (with wayyy too much dressing on) ... read more

Day 103 (Saturday 01/08/09, NJJ) Left the lodge for Auckland airport for our flight to Fiji. In Duty Free we bought our wedding scents - Marc Jacobs Daisy EDP for me, and I made Jay get a new EDT for the wedding day too! Flight was dealyed by about ½ hour. Got to Nadi (pronounced Nandi!) around 5.30pm. There we had to wait in the lingest passport control line I have ever seen. Our accommodation arranged our transport and so off we went to the Beach Escape Resort - not as class as it sounds but it suited us for the night. Had delicious dinner at the resort restaurant. Our villa is not what I imagine a villa to be like, more of a room totally covered in dark wooden panels, with separate bedroom. Jamie for ... read more

Well NZ is now behind us...or infront...Im not sure..I will totally miss it. People for the most part were super friendly (unless your on the wrong side of the road...then they get pretty upset :P Ive gone on about the driving before but it was just so crazie it needs another mention. NZ drivers, drive like they are in a Rally race. For them (the guys at least) "Driving is in the Blood" The slower you go in the mountains the more uncoool you are :P But with all the Head on collisions we saw, uncool was Juuuuuust fine :) Also Locals are able to mouth off to the police!! (we watched some of the Cop reality shows they had, where driving offenders just told cops off ( in T.O. you'd get a Taser to the ... read more

Bula (Hello) Everyone! Just a quick note with our pics from Bounty Island in Fiji. We've not had chance to type up a blog yet but thought you might want to see the photo's in the meantime. After a few nice days in Sydney including a whirlwind weekend with friends at Bondi Beach, we've just arrived in Canberra on route to the Snowy Mountains. This is our last night of freedom before we take another coach tomorrow to the town of Jindabyne close to Perisher Ski Resort. Our new employers, Ski Rider, then pick us up from there...back to the grindstone after 7 months haha. Will try to write more soon but there's no internet access at the hotel so not sure when. Wish us luck :) Steve and Maja x P.S Happy fathers day Dad ... read more

17th APRIL 2009 - MUD POOLS & VISA WAIVERS We got up at around 7.30am and after getting dressed we headed to the bar to get some breakfast. Pancakes again...hopefully my last because as tasty as they are my clothing fasteners are strugging at the moment!! Following breakfast we packed up, got what we needed for the day and put our luggage in storage until later. We then waited for our 9am pick up to take us to the mud pools!! The taxi was actually on time which is a first in Fiji!! We got in and the guy took us on a 15-20 minute ride to the mudpools. Once again the roads were atrotious; some sort of tarmac company needs to visit Fiji and fast! Once paid we were taken to the mud pool. I ... read more

16/4/09 = Back to where it all began...Nadi. Woke up v.itchy with yet more bites. I hate you mosquitoes! I'm sure they actually like the taste of my insect repellent...maybe it was labelled wrong and is actually mosquito food. Got changed and headed for breakfast with diary - diary + just in case food took so long to come. Ordered toast once Deb had come down - 2 portions...feeling extra greedy - and then shatted whilst waiting. Debs' food came more or less straight away, but 45mins later, I was still waiting for my plain toast. How hard can it be to put bread in a toaster? Could see that other people were waiting eagerly too...the anticipation and angst was written all over their faces. Nearly an hour later it finally came. Gobbled it down and ... read more

15th APRIL 2009 - AMAZING BUS JOURNEY!! It was a long 4 hour journey to VoliVoli Resort just outside of RakiRaki. We were sat at the front. The engine was so loud the radio could not be heard and so I put my ipod in full blast...not so good for the eardrums!! I was very tired but as we set off and I saw the sights I could not close my eyes! I was amazed by everything. The road conditions were awful. Half the roads weren' roads at all...just mud, gravel and massive pot holes. I tried to take some photos along the way but the quality is poor due to the bus being so bumpy! We even drove through a quarry at one point! Every one we passed gave us a wave which is typical ... read more

2/4/09 = Another organising day! Had a bad and weirdly interrupted nights sleep. The source of the interruptions, 90% of the time, was the small toddler sleeping in the bunk bed next to me, who proceeded to cry quite loudly at hourly intervals throughout the night. That's not right! Should not be sharing rooms with random children and definitely should not be being woken up by them throughout night. Mum did her best to get her back to sleep quickly, but took at least 15minutes each time. Not happy. Woke properly at 7:30am to find both mother and child disappeared; at least they had been quiet getting ready...or I had been that shattered. Did a weather check: HOT, HOT HOT, then got ready and went for breakfast. Been a long time since seen proper sunshine and ... read more

1st April 2009 - HELLO FIJI....BULA!!! The 2 hour flight went quickly. Take off, meal and drink, Madagascar 2, sleep and flight over! The time in Fiji when we landed was 8.30pm. You could feel the humidity when you stepped off the plane...no trousers and jumpers needed in this country!! As we walked towards the baggage carousel and immigration, 4 Fijians were stood singing to us and playing the banjo as we walked off the plane...it wasn't a jazz flute but what a welcome...love it already!! I got another stamp in my passport (notching them up now) and then headed to wait for my bag. Nats came off straight away and mine didn't come. My palms got sweaty and I got as close to the conveyor belt as possible. I waited and waited until I was ... read more

Bula! Arrived back in Nadi and decided to go to Smuggler's Cove for dinner, a hostel next door to ours. Food was cheap and delicious! And we also got a free glass of wine each - we won a bet with an old dude - he said we couldn't polish it off between us, fool he obviously doesn't know us very well! (we also hadn't eaten since breakfast so there was plenty of room, although Lib did slip a bit to his dog twice who was sat under our table - I do not know how I kept a straight face : ) They were harmless old folk but after hearing the same stories from them 3 times we had to get out of there! Luckily there were some English/Scottish/Irish guys on the next table who ... read more
