Tim and I have been married 4 years and together for 10. We are both outgoing and enjoy a few beers as often as possible. We are currently enjoying the sixth month of our 12 month world travel plans
We were very excited at having the opportunity to take 12 months off to just enjoy life and so far it hasn't been a disappointment!!!! We have managed to achieve everything we set out to do so far and more. Travelling truly does broaden your mind and your personal achievements ten fold.
Like all other bloggers have set this up so friends, family and colleagues can follow our progress.

What a surprise Boston has been, such a beautiful city. With all the history and the fact that it was originally based on London we have felt like we are back home already..well almost. We arrived to sunshine that was set to stay for the whole 4 days we were here, couple that with a bank holiday for Columbus day and we were feeling really good. Our hotel was right out of the city but when we arrived we purchased a 7 day ticket for the T which is the public transport here and for $15 we both thought it was very good value. It was a little stressful on the underground with our backpacks but we managed to get to our lodgings in one piece. Originally they had not had an ensuite room available but

It was quite late by the time we arrived in Buffalo as we had to fly through New York to get here. We got a taxi straight to our hotel and were just sat chilling watching a bit of TV when Sharon called to say that she had sent the Fedex and the wallet would arrive by lunchtime the next day. This meant we could still go and hire the car and once again Sharon had found out where we could go that was close to us and it turned out Avis was just down the road. With all that sorted and settled (cheers Sharon) we settled in for a good nights sleep. Waking late we found that the fedex was already at reception so while Tim went to sort out the car I went to

Even with the sat nav that Rick and Sharon gave us we still couldn’t find their house so fortunately Sharon came to meet us to take us back. You remember I said that they are a whirlwind, well our return was no different. Within 20 minutes of being in the house Sharon was whisking us off to one of the movie sets in town. We’ve never been given the opportunity to do this so we were not sure what to expect. It was to the set of the new Henry Winkler (the fonz) movie, so we headed to the location on the opposite side of the water. What we didn’t know was that it was not indoors the shoot was taking place in a house in a residential area. We arrived and were a bit early

We left the cozy atmosphere of Rick and Sharons and headed for the rockies. It was Monday morning and the traffic was a little busy getting out of the city but within 30 minutes we were enjoying some pretty stunning scenery. We had a lot of miles to cover and we made good time to the town of Kamloops which we hit around midday. Stopping for a burger and drink we were back on the road again within 30 minutes. Taking a bit of a slower pace now we had some miles under our belt we enjoyed the views of the surrounding mountains lined with trees. We saw a sign for a waterfall off the road so we pulled over to see if was worth a visit. Deciding it was we paid our entrance fee and

Our flight to Seattle was faultless and we were both really looking forward to meeting up with Rick and Sharon again. As we collected our baggage we were pounced upon by both of them, Sharon quickly handed Tim a large can of English ale. We were introduced to Ernie one of Sharons old friends from NZ and swiflty the whirlwind that is Rick and Sharon took hold. Firstly Sharon had very kindly arranged a hire car for us at no cost other than the tax and to insure her to drive it back to Vancouver. As Tim sorted out the finer details of the rental I got the chance to catch up with Rick on his new film and life since we last saw them 5 months ago in NZ. Then Tim went off with the

If Tim sang that line once on the way he must have sang it a thousand times - badly!! By the time we arrived into San Fran about 11.30am I think he had got the message that the novelty had worn off. We had a few hotels in our coupon guide again so the idea was to take the northern entrance to the city where we could drive over the golden gate bridge and then onto find somewhere to stay. The roads were exceptionally busy on the freeway and it was a bit stressful navigating but we managed it okay and as the golden gate bridge came into view Tim took an intake of breath. He has always wanted to see this bridge he has no idea why but it was a big thing for him.

Lake Tahoe sits on the border of California and Nevada, we arrived via the Nevada border. Casinos line the main highway in and the scenes were very pretty of the beginning of the lake. The hotel we were hoping for was actually in California so we passed over the cross roads that marks the two borders. We always like finding such places where it says welcome to California on one side and you are leaving Nevada on the other, yes I know, sad! The hotel we chose was supposed to be near the lake front and although it took us a while to find it eventually we got there. We were surprised to be offered an even better rate than our discount coupon and the room had a spa bath. Result! Our room opened out onto

Arriving in Bodie is rather eerie, even though we were not the first tourists we were still early enough for it to be quiet. Driving down the dirt road that leads to the deserted mining town you first pass the cemetry on your left and then you see what is left of the once sprawling town on the right. Perched high up on the hill is the mill and mine looming over the houses. We parked and set off with our map on foot following the numbered lots to find out the history behind each one. We started with an old family home, staring through the dusty windows we find that broken chairs, caved in celings, old bottles and crockery stare back at us. I love places like this and already find myself wishing I could

We quite happily left dodgy Fresno behind and began our journey to Yosemite, somehow we got our timings wrong and we arrived much earlier than we had expected to do. We arrived into the small town of Oakhurst and decided to stop for breakfast as we knew it would be a long day. The breakfast in America are rather strange and we have still yet to understand how you can out pancakes, maple syrup, eggs amd bacon on the same plate. We avoided that combination but the french toast came with icing sugar, just way too weird!! Stopping off at the tourist information centre was the best decision we made as the guy there gave us some really good advice for the places to stop at. Armed with that and our free maps we set off

We drove through Malibu and down to Venice beach in around an hour or so. The scenery is quite pretty and were still finding the palm trees most amusing we seriously need to stop taking pictures of them!! Finally finding a place to park we set off for the short walk to the beach. I knew nothing about muscle beach but Tim had seen it on TV and was pretty keen to take a look. You cant miss the muscle element of this beach within a few minutes the small path breaks out into a large open area with a whole section dedicated to the real heavy weight lifters. At the time we arrived there was a competition taking place and the guys were pressing a serious amount of weight in turn. we watched for a
