That is right I am sitting here updating my blog in a place called Surfer's Paradise...not bad huh!?! I have been in Australia for 5 days now and am absolutly loving it! It is still quite scary to think that I will be gone for the next 5 months but for now things have been amazing. The flights over were not actually too bad excpet for the minor power outage in the Fijian Airport which was a bit scary the 23 hours of travel over here were not to bad. I spent the first 2 days exploring Sydney with Clara Cantor ( a girl from my rugby team) We styed in this great hostel called Wke up sydney! We met some really cool people which was fun. Clara and I walk around the entire city! Which ... read more

Missed out a few days so thought I'd get some sort of order back... 15th of Jan was a very busy day. We were even in town (the hostel is in a place called Southport, which I should stress is slightly nicer than the English version, and "town" is Surfers) by midday, which is quite remarkable. I'm getting much better at relaxing now- in Sydney there was a lot of running around and sightseeing, however in Byron and Surfers there is hardly anything to do apart from lie on a beach and burn, so I've taken to having days in the shade reading my book (am now on Wuthering Heights which is quite good, although it is a terrible conversation starter: Pretty girl : what are you reading there? Mattador: Wuthering Heights Pretty girl : Oh. ... read more

Hej folkens. Nytaaret skulle da ogsaa ... read more

Big mistake......never, never try to take a few days off work when you are suppose to attend a board meeting! Anyway, had promissed the family a few days away on the Gold Coast and so we rented an Apartment near the Casino Complex at Broadbeach. Brand new Apartments named "Freshwater Place" nice views of Surfers and the Hinterland, positioned on the other side of the Gold Coast Highway, but still in walking distance to everything i.e. beach, shopping, restaurants and casino! Cost AUD200.00 per night for a very large two bedroom apartment inclusive of under cover parking for the duration! But as mentioned in the beginning my days were filled with emails and phone calls, much to my discussed and annoyance of my family...certainly won't do that again!... read more

True fact. So far my highest number of friends on the tour, although two of them are leaving tomorrow so back down to one. My last entry finished with me mentioning the possibility of lounging and pottering for the rest of the day, which I duly did. Went back to the hostel for a cheeky beer and then into town for a Subway dinner which was lovely. On completion of our dinner, went back to the hostel, had another beer and went straight to bed. Very very tired and quite pink (again). I've discovered actually that I'm utterly useless at putting suncream on. I randomly leave big patches of me out and am turning into a sort of patchwork of pink and white. Soon however the patches will merge, and I will become as brown as ... read more

Hi all Well spent my last week in Australia in Brisbane. After the fuss with the hostel we ended up with beds on the 2nd night as they had a couple of no shows which was a pain, because in the pool room we had our own cable TV and aircon, easily the best room in the house, plus it was free. On the Friday we went for a wander round Brisbane and despite what everyone else had said we really liked it. Although it did seem strange being so busy, as everywhere we have been previously has been so quiet. Although I am sure the main reason it was so busy was because of the Ashes. The whole city was packed with Barmy Army and Aussie fans, creating a great atmosphere. Anyway in the afternoon ... read more

Today we left Brisbane in our new home for the next 8 days, our 'Wicked Campervan' A photo will follow shortly, but you must go to their website in the mean time (www.wickedcampers.com.au) and look under 'photos' they are all unique! Making our way south of the city, with Dan at the helm, we were getting some very strange looks from other drivers on the road, its such a laugh! We took it slowly stopping every so often to have a look around at the local towns, including Southport. Our bed for the night (although inside the campervan its self) was in Surfers Paradise. We parked up at a caravan site we found right by the sea, so we had a shower and toilet etc to use, and took a walk into town to have a ... read more

I decided that we needed a holiday for the Christmas Holidays in 2004, so I got online, read heaps of stories and reviews, checked out all the kid friendly resort websites and decided on the Mercure Resort (now called Paradise Resort) in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast. What an excellent choice. I secured a great deal online and was able to pay the holiday off through out the year. We drove down from our home in Central Highlands in Queensland with our four children Brianna 8, Makayla 6, Allanah 2 and Melissa 2 ½ weeks. (I booked in January and discovered I was pregnant in February.) My older two girls loved the kids club, the activities were really cool and excellent, or so I’m told. The Day Care Centre was so convenient and the staff ... read more
