Hi all Well spent my last week in Australia in Brisbane. After the fuss with the hostel we ended up with beds on the 2nd night as they had a couple of no shows which was a pain, because in the pool room we had our own cable TV and aircon, easily the best room in the house, plus it was free. On the Friday we went for a wander round Brisbane and despite what everyone else had said we really liked it. Although it did seem strange being so busy, as everywhere we have been previously has been so quiet. Although I am sure the main reason it was so busy was because of the Ashes. The whole city was packed with Barmy Army and Aussie fans, creating a great atmosphere. Anyway in the afternoon ... read more

Kia Ora (hello in Maori) Well the weather has finally improved thankfully and it is now nice and sunny reaching the mid-twenties. It is amazing how a little bit of sunshine can really improve a place. But I guess that´s a bit hard to imagine when you are sat back home in old Blighty freezing to death. On Monday we decided to drive back to Rotorua, which is where we first started out and the place we liked the best, well apart from the faint whiff of sulphur every now and again. Plus the weather forecast was the best for here and they have the best campsites. We went to Kiwi World as we felt that you couldn´t come all the way to New Zealand without seeing one and the chances of seeing one in the ... read more

Kia Ora (That´s hello in Maori and not that squash type drink) The weather in New Zealand is crap! It is the same as England, possibly even worse and this is supposed to be the start of their summer. We have had a couple of good days but still not hot, just warm and sunny and for the last 3 days it has been chucking it down with rain and been pretty cold so not very impressed thus far! Anyway back to last Saturday and without knowing what the weather was going to do we picked up our hire car. As we are only here for 2 and a bit weeks and trying to budget a bit we thought (as recommended by the nice lady at the Tourist Information Centre) we would hire a "Micro Camper". ... read more

Hi all (Those that are reading this anyway) Well we arrived in Perth in the early hours of Monday (13th Nov) and managed to find a hostel in the city centre. As it was about 2am and we were very tired we went into the first one we found which had a bed and booked in for 3 nights. So far we had been lucky with the hostels that we had stayed in but our room in this one was like we had both been sent to prison and put in solitary confinement (I know that doesn't quite work with two of us in the same room, but that's what it was like!) The room had no windows and one door, which would only allow one person to enter, then had to be shut and re-opened ... read more

Just before I start I would like to make it clear that if anyone has been reading Becky's blogs then you will have noticed that my edited versions are far more interesting!! Anyway now I have cleared that one up I shall begin. I finished the last blog the day before going to Australia Zoo, anyway that evening in a bid to find somewhere to watch the football we joined an RSL a kind of ex-servicemans club (I think). Although once inside (after changing my thongs) there didnt apppear to be many. Ex-servicman that was. Anyway the real reason I mention this is just really to mention the fact that we then watched Utd comprehensively batter Liverpool. So to any of you scouse fans out there Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha ... read more

G'danga, Well we had a good last week in Queensland although it keeps getting hotter and hotter and very humid so makes you very sluggish. Arrived in Cairns last Friday and spent a couple of days here just looking around and then on the Sunday we booked a day trip to a town called Karundra. It's a small little town about 15 minutes north of Cairns and is surrounded by the rainforest. We arrived at Cairns railway station where you board the Scenic Railway which takes about 1 hour to climb up to Karundra and on the way you pass through the rainforest and waterfalls. Once in Karundra we had the day to wander around and I managed to find Australias Venomous Zoo! Becks loved this as spiders and creepy crawlies are amongst her favourite things ... read more

Hi all, just think you have another 5 months of these to read at least!! We arrived in Port Macquarie on the Monday after leaving Lynseys and found a nice site near to the town. Port Macquarie was very picturesque with obviously a harbour and great beaches and tons of quirky little shops. We didn’t arrive there until late afternoon so decided to eat out (for a change) and found a great Indian restaurant. On the Tuesday we headed to a Koala Sanctuary and pet a Koala whilst it tried to sleep. Then we went to the Kangaroo enclosure to harass and feed them. A lot of them had tiny Joey's which would poke their heads out every now and then to try and steal a feed, very cute! After this we decided to head to ... read more

Hi all (if anyone is still reading this) Apologies for this blog being a bit delayed however not as easy when travelling around to get to an internet place that often and far too busy, anyway here now. Well the last couple of days in Sydney were spent travelling around the outskirts to visit a couple of beaches and a few more museums. We even went to the Maritime Museum which dad would have loved! Wednesday was the big day where we picked the camper van up. It's great, it comes with a neat little kitchen area with stove, grill, fridge and sink and then a table inside which turns into a bed plus a further bed in the roof bit and there is also a fold down table for outside with a couple of camping ... read more

Well I left England on the 2nd October after being chauffeured to Heathrow airport via a service station for potentially my last Ginsters for 6 months. Just after passing through security Nic called me to tell me he had my birthday (please note my birthday is on the 28th of July) present and had forgotten to give it to me but cheers anyway guys! After that I boarded my flight destined for Sydney via Hong Kong. 21 hours later I arrived at Sydney International at 6.30am on the 4th of October and was greeted by Becky. We immediately headed for the hostel for breakfast and sleep. After about 1 hour sleep Becky then proceeded to drag me with her friend Sarah on a guided tour of ALL of Sydney. We walked through the Botanical gardens where ... read more
