Hey All!

So I am off to New Zealand to study abroad but before I get there I will be stopping by LA and Australia for a little pre-program travel. I 'll be gone from the US from Jan 16th until June 21st! I am wicked excited but also nervous to start this journey abroad. I will be missing you all back home and I thought this would be a cool way to keep you all posted. Enjoy!

Hello Everyone! Sorry it has been so long since I last posted. This will probably be my last post while I am still here but am sure I will post a few once I get home. I can’t believe how fast the time has here has gone. It actually seems like a month or so ago that I was sitting with Sarah at home actually freaking out about being gone for 6 months and now I am headed home in 9 days and have no idea where the time has gone. I am excited to get home to see friends and family again and to get warm!! (it is actually winter here, snow on the mountains and everything, except there is now heat in the flats so I have been freezing my arse off!) But ... read more

Hi All, Hope you are all doing well. It is so weird to think that I have been gone for over 4 months now, while I have definitely had my moments of missing home and often wish that people from home were here to experience this amazing country with, I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by. I have just over a month left until I am home. While “I have done more this semester than anyone my age should” as my family keeps saying, there are still so many things that New Zealand has to offer. This past weekend, for example I went on another trip and saw a part of the country so different from what I have seen. Thursday evening Anna, Ally, Emily (a really fun girl who came through the ... read more

Queenstown HI Everyone, I hope everyone is doing well back home or wherever you are. Well Fall has arrived in Dunedin, which is a little bizarre seeing as it is May but it is actually gorgeous here in the fall. Well this post will be a bit shorter than my epically long last post. I haven’t done all that much travelling after “spring” break. It has been nice to spend a few weekends around Dunedin. Two weekends ago on Sunday, I went with Butler (my study abroad program) on the Taieri Train, this old fashion train to Middlemarch. It was a really cool train and we lucked out on having absolutely beautiful weather. We were picked up from the train station in Middlemarch and driven to Clyde where we had a barbeque and were fitted ... read more

"Spring" Break Road Trip! Hello Everyone, We there sure has been a lot that has happened since I last wrote. So you all are going to have to bear with me. Two Friday’s ago, at about 8am I headed off on my big “spring” break road trip. Susannah, Clancy (my roommate), Andrew (a friend), and I all packed up our $650 car and set out on an almost 10 day journey, followed by Anna, Yvonne, and Ally in their car. We headed first to Christchurch on Good Friday, which was kind of cool seeing as it is probably the most Christian town in New Zealand. After our 5-hour drive we explored around the city went into the Cathedral Church and saw a chess game being played in the square (see picture). Around 4 Susannah dropped ... read more

Untitled Untitled Hey All, Sorry it has been a bit since I last posted. Since my last posting of my crazy sky diving adventure I have remain feet firmly planted on the ground in Dunedin. I have spent the past two weeks actually doing the first assignments that I have had in New Zealand, which I suppose isn’t too bad as mid-semester break begins tomorrowJ. Thrown in the middle there was my 21st! That is right, as Erica put it, “ I am officially allowed to drink in a country I will not be in for the next three months”. Well I had quite the celebration. I had a really nice day and met up with my friend Jo from the camp I used to work at, who was down at Otago for her graduation ... read more

Hey All, Hope you are all well. My time in New Zealand continues to be amazing…I just don’t think this will get old. Since I last wrote I spent last weekend here in Dunedin celebrating my friend Yvonne’s 21st and St. Patty’s Day. All those of you on facebook can see the numerous photos of me posted in full on green gear. It was pretty nice to have a weekend chilling here just hanging out and lazing around. Big news of last weekend was that I found out there is enough money to fly me home to play in the elite eight of nationals for Bowdoin Women’s Rugby, which is absolutely crazy but also an awesome possibility. I however have been struggling with my Achilles, which I think I have mentioned before and am still ... read more

Hey All! So here is part 2 of the post. Hope you all enjoyed the first part. I forgot to mention in my last post that before our big trip to the Catlans a bunch of us all went to see Katchafire (a fairly famous NZ band). The concert was amazing. Anyway this past week I have started to get into the swing of having class a bit more but am still struggling to find the motivation at times. I am still having an awesome time just hanging around with my flatmates and other friends I’ve made. I have had the chance to check out some really cool cafes and just catch up on life in Dunedin. Wednesday I had a pretty crappy day as I found out that one of the classes I am taking ... read more

Hello All. Well I again have lots to report and not all that much time so I am going to do another series of two entries to talk about the last two weekends. I have now completed a full 2 weeks of class and am actually really enjoying them. I am in class a lot fewer hours then at Bowdoin (mostly due to the fact I am not taking any lab courses at the moment) but am finding the material very interesting. It is a little difficult to get the hang of actually being in class as I am coming off a pretty long break but hopefully I will get the hang of it soon. I am absolutely loving it here. My roommates are awesome. I get along with all of them really well. After my ... read more

Hey All! So life is pretty good here in Dunedin. After heading back from Te Anau and Milford Sounds we entered the crazy week of orientation…all about having a good time and meeting tons of people. Two of my roommates Holly and Scott arrived on Sunday night. It was awesome to get to meet them. Scott is my “kiwi host” and is awesome! He has totally made the transition here so easy. I have spent quite a bit of time hanging out with him and his friends who are all really cool. Holly is from just out side of Buffalo, NY. She is really sweet but is still pretty quite. Orientation week was pretty crazy, lots of activities all day long, free food, free stuff, and lots of going out. The study abroad office ran a ... read more

Hey Everyone, Sorry it has been so long since I have written so I have decided to update 2 times because a lots has gone on since I last posted. Well since I last wrote I spent a few more days settling in a bit more. I registered for my classes, or papers as they are called here, which was actually pretty hard work as I had to get signed off on each of them separately and had to walk all over campus to get the signatures. Seeing as I had no idea where anything was this took a good while but am now enrolled in Mäori Studies, Health Policy and Politics, Intro to Marketing, and a neurobiology course about aging in the brain… and I know my way around campus a bit better. After getting ... read more
