Well, we didn't leave on a train or at midnight but our destination was Georgia. First stop, Savannah. Savannah is like a picture postcard of what you would imagine America to be like years ago - very pretty squares and parks and lovely big old houses. There aren't any sights as such you just wander round looking at the historic district and the riverfront area so we spent a nice couple of afternoons doing that. We could have done a ghost tour of the city at night but they take you round in a hearse so we decided against it! We did manage to find an English pub, complete with red telephone box outside, and had bangers and mash (real sausages!) for dinner - it was wonderful. We also managed to survive the heat - the ... read more

Yesterday (the 15th) was a travel day from Newport News, VA to Atlanta, GA. The airport in Newport News is ridiculously small so there wasn't much going on there. I finally got into Atlanta around 3:30 and Brian and I went straight to a bar called The Bullpen next to Turner Field. It's real uncomfortable in Atlanta. There experiencing some of there worst heat (with humidity) in a while. I think it got up to 103 degrees at one point yesterday. We hung out for a couple of hours at the Bullpen then went into the stadium when gates opened. We took in a little batting practice in the outfield and then went to our seats behind home plate. It was ridiculously uncomfortable being so high up. We sat in the top level right behind home ... read more

"What I most regret in the particulars of my life...is not having kept a journal of my travels." Jean-Jacques Rousseau God-willing with the help from Travelblog this is going to change, right now, on our adventure ride to the Southern Hemisphere. Traveling alone should give me more time to write and I want to write for all y'all back home...Always know...Wish you were here! My blood is flowing. The departure date is coming. I am stoked! I am in the process of getting the bike prepped, logistics worked out, and a basic route. Mainly figuring out how I am going to get everything on the bike. I lived out of backpack for six months on the AT so surely I can figure out how to fit the basics on my bike, Isabel. I really want to ... read more

“Whatever Happened to Polio” Roosevelt’s Warm Springs Georgia I had the pleasure of returning to Warm Springs Georgia as the guest of Warren Williams a member of Peachtree Rotary. Last fall I saw the public side of the complex, the museum, avenue of flags and the little white house. This time I got to see the educational and therapeutic side of Roosevelt’s Georgia Warm Springs Foundation. August 11th, 2007 marks the official opening of the “What ever happened to Polio?” exhibit at Roosevelt Warm springs. Thanks to PolioPlus and District 6900, fifty thousand dollars was donated to pay for moving the Smithsonian exhibit here. FDR and Warm Springs were the vanguard of a two pronged attack against the dead epidemic disease, Polio. The first focus was helping the polio patient adapt. It took remarkable ingenuity to ... read more

Dear readers, I see that, with much regret, my blog is essentially gone. I was not able to log in a few days ago, and now I come back to read about how nearly everything was lost. I didn't read each of the site's entries about how and why, but I do know that he is sorry. I am too. I don't really think I have exact copies of the entries that were here, so I am so happy if any of you had had the chance to come by and see the blog when it was much more complete. I did indeed have 20 or so photos, maps of the U.S. states and countries of the world that I had been to, and then, entries from each place that the study abroad I attended went. ... read more

August 15, 2007: Pictures are back! More (and those with the editing finish on them) will accompany my new entries and these soon. I will want to add more to the entries I did while in Italy, and I might fix up the ones I put up while there. As always, keep checking back! NEW INFORMATION (August 10, 2007): It appears that my blog has been recovered, mostly. This was quite a welcome sight, so now you can look back over the writing that I did post while in Italy. I did manage to get a fair amount of pictures up while there (mostly through the help others' devices!), but it seems that those weren't recovered. It's ok, though, because I kept saying that those photos were straight from the memory card and totally unfixed. That ... read more

Went out with Mke to a bar named Loco were his band Turtle Folk is performing. Grab burger and Guinness and then hung around for setup and sound check. It stange how much I enjoy wraping and organizing wires. Not to chatty because there was some some things going on in New England but it was great to just hang out and listened. The fun came at the end of the night during break down the was fight going on outside. I stayed in side and wrapped cables all I saw was people going in and out. In the process of helping to pack up cables I figured out a new rating system for cables. There were three categories cables need to withstand 1. Booze 2. Cigaretts 3. Stupid Hot Groupie who stand on them. ... read more

Well, I am down to my last two days of work. Kind of a bittersweet end. Today is my last with Grace in the office. I will miss working with her. She has it under control!!! And it is time for me to move on to other things. Going to do some home improvement on "Rock Stars" sunroom next week. Then tear down an old pole barn at the farm the next two weeks as I get my last few things organized before the motorcycle adventure begins... So, till next time...Peace Esteban... read more

Two weeks since I have left France and I am still trying to readjust. Three days I spent in Atlanta were probably the weirdest, nothing felt right, but here at my parents' I am feeling much better for some reason. Of course, it is nothing like Paris here and my life seems rather empty compared to what it was last month, but I am glad to have some "free" time to think, relax, figure things out. Now that I am back and so close to graduating, everyone has been asking about my plans for the future. I guess getting a diploma is a big step, and I am just starting to realize that. I know I will continue my studies later on so I am not putting too much pressure on myself as far as my ... read more
