Until We Depart the ATL
LS, Lenny Davis, Wanderer, Esteban, Poco a Poco, Poco Loco, are a few of my nicknames. Hope you enjoy my first attempt at blogging! I am going to ride my motorcycle, Isabel, down the The Great Divide Trail in the Rockies and then onto Tierra del Fuego, at bottom of South America. Both the blogging and riding should be interesting. And who knows how either will turn out, but it is time to get on the open road! I look forward to hearing from you all as we travel south together...

Back in the South...The trees are beautiful...Fall is everywhere. My girlfriend promised me a "weekend in the woods" as I call them...She thought we were going camping...Yea, camping, but that means backpacking to me because you have to get away from all the people! We had a blast! Many of you have day hiked, or spent a night on the AT. Now is the time to get out there! Peak color season is right now! We hiked from Telico Gap, up to the fire tower on Wesser Bald! Got to visit with Kyle Roath and his amigos, prior to heading down into the gorge! It was a little chilly, but nice to sleep without hearing the Marta Train, cops, ambulances, sirens, etc. and all the noise pollution in a city! Enjoy the photos and would love

Well this might come as a shock to some and not so much of a shock to others, but after 10,000 miles on Isabel of solo travel from Atlanta to Lake Superior to Canada and down the Continental Divide (Epic), the headwaters of 4 major rivers, Mississippi, Missouri, Arkansas, and the Rio Grande and ultimately across the border into Mexico...Classic run on there...After a few days on the Mexican Riveria, I decided that it was time to let this adventure rest for a while. I drove out of Mexico pretty fast and rode all the way back to the Atlanta traveling about 90 mph plus back to my girlfriends apartment in Buckhead. I don't think anyone past me and it is a blast to pass the Harley/Street Bike crowd on a dirt bike!!! Pavement is not

I am going to the let the pictures talk here. Many of you have got to experience San Carlos with me over the years! It is a very unique place as the Sonoran Desert meets the Sea of Cortez. Still realtively quiet for a mexican beach town 5 hours from the border, but the condos are coming...Enjoy the pictures now...

Well, I have hit all my old territtory. From the Classic Chiricahua Mountains in the East...To Tombstone, Ghosttown of Gleeson and ultimately, the Santa Ritas. The Chiricahuas are still my favorite in the area. Got to Tucson...Did some final bike work with a mechanic in the states before heading south to Mexico. Caught up with Josh Waggoner and his wife, Lyra, at an awesome restaurant in the foothills overlooking Tucson at Campbell and Skyline. It was great to hear their stories of the past 8 years and share some stories. They got engaged at the White House so that story is one for all time!!! They said Charlie was doing great! Chuck, shout out to you man in Seattle! Wish I knew you lived their! Got to ski at Crystal Mountain last year and my buddy,

Yesterday was epic...Great weather. Blue skies until sunset when I literally go poured on in the desert. Started in the Gila Mountains. The Gila Mountains feel more like WEst Virgina/North Carolina with the ruggedness and drainages going all over the place. Obviously dryier, but the landscape. Came down a dirt road between two wilderness areas. the wildflowers were amazing. I definetely attribute it to the fact that there were no cattle around. The area had not been overgrazed like so much of the Rocky Mountain states. Then went to the Gila Cliff Dwellings. I felt like I was being followed by Geronimo all day...This was his country his land. The Chiricahua Apache were fierce in the SW and in Northern Mexico. This country was rugged and if White man needed water every two days the apache

Great riding! Sun is shining! Stumbled upon Pietown, NM! Look that one up on mapquest! Hung out with Jim and Nita...Told bike stories and trail stories! Ate an awesome large barbeque sandwich for $4.50. Headed south...Still trying to get to the desert! Oh, the Plains of San Augustin and the other plains around this part of New Mexico were just awesome grasslands!!! Beautiful with the tall grace and the blue sky!

By far the shadiest campsite of the trip...Got stuck no where near National Forest Lands and the hotel owner let me duck behind his sold out motel for free. McGyver (sp) had his pocket knife on him all night long just in case! Big day of riding...Some intense but just making miles to the south trying to warm up and get to the desert! Got poured on for two hours across the Indian Reservation. For the first 30 minutes I stay dry once it starts raining. The next 30 minutes I get damp. The next 30 I get wet and then the final 30 minutes, I am freezing and looking for a hot, cheap, shower. How about that dead bear and the bear dawgs!!! Reminded me of ole Maine!!!

JJ's wedding was outstanding! A great time with good friends and family! Emily flew in and we had a blast! It was her first time in Colorado and she got to see everything from blue sky to snow! Mom, I need a picture of JJ and his wife from the wedding! I didn't take any pictures! I would love to put one on the blog for the fellas back home if you could email me one! All the pictures are copyrighted by Emily Robinson!!! I miss her each day! It is hard to be townie and then return to the woods. Once in the woods you get used to it and adapt, but the first few days back are tough...Your thoughts are all about a good hot meal, warmth, love, friends, etc. But, we must sieze

First day in serious mud and snow. Cold morning as usual. Drove through Rifle, CO...Wierd town appeared to have an oil and gas boom...Epic public golf course in the canyon! Drove up the canyon to the flattops...Everyone told me I could not make it to Steamboat. Got lost! Real Lost! Found some loggers to give me directions out. The mud was deep...The snow was melting and I was a mess. Had my first serious crash going about 30 mph. It was on mud and happening so quick that I am not sure what happended. I know I just got ejected and my bike crashed in the mud and ripped the a couple bolts out of the frame where my boxes attach...Nothing a little jerry rigging could not handle. Finally got out of the Flattops in one
