I just wrote a huge blog on what's been going on, and I lost it. So here's the synopsis (I'm really tired and ready for bed): After spending the morning at school and in a tour, we went bowling and out walking. At night, we talked a crapload and it was refreshing to speak so much good german. Everyone has been complimenting me and going out of their ways to talk to me, which is good for my self-esteem. My german also gets me invited to a lot of stuff, so I've been and will be very busy the whole time I'm here. It's really hard to type in English right now. Hopefully I can type more tomorrow... In the meantime, enjoy some pictures.... read more

This blog is late, we don’t apologise. I had a cold and we didn’t have access to a computer for a little. And I didn’t feel like writing another what with finding jobs and a place to live in London. Anyway enough of that. For the past couple of days we have been in Berlin. It’s certainly different to Warsaw but fantastic, so big, so many people and the train system is unbelievable. Melbourne and Connex really suck. Our Germany experience began on the 29th of June, the Euro Cup final, Germany Vs Spain. Our hostel was owned by a Kiwi and they had toasted sandwiches on their restaurant menu. It was the greatest ham cheese and pineapple sandwich we’ve had. Stephen and I decided to find some locals and watch the game. We headed to ... read more

It was yet another great day here today! We met as a group this morning and discussed how things were going with their families and at school. It sounds like things are really going well! We heard lots of fun stories from home and trips that they have been on around Hamburg already. Funny and interesting stories abound! After our meeting, the kids went to class with their partner or attended an English class with Ms. Herder and I in order to help some younger German students with their English language skills. Then it was off on a walk to the Phoenix Mall. This 3 story giant had our kids grinning from ear to ear. They had about 2 hours to shop and wander the mall before we met for ice cream at a shop on ... read more

Travel Blog Day 7 Heidelberg Back on the train, heading at high speeds and blogging to pass the time, ah the strangeness of Europe. In America I’d drive, and driving and blogging would be a pretty terrible idea, so we just listen to music… this allows you to be more productive, but the cost is more than driving is (well I don’t know what gas prices have done in 7 days). We are headed to Munich now, and it is a 3 hour train ride… basically we have to go back West to get East, because if there was a direct train it’d be an hour. In Munich we will be picking up the 3rd member of our crew, Kyle. He is coming in from London and we have no idea when he will be in, ... read more

Hello, we´ve arrived today in Messingen, close to the Austrian border and to Bavaria, approx 100 klm from Munich. We left Locarno at around 10 this morning, direct to Zurich, arrived there at 2pm with no idea where to go next as we are not due in Munich till tomorrow! So I found some lockers, dumped the bags and went searching for an internet point. Looked up Google maps and Messingen looked good so here we are. We walked into a bar opposite the station and we were greeted like old friends hahahaha, the locals are hilarious. Asked about somewhere to stay and we´ve found a great place with a restuarant, so we are fed, beered up and about to hit the town for a look around. So we travelled through Austria today, the train trip ... read more

Travel Blog Day 11: Munich Alrighty, sorta went 2 days without writing there, but no worries, my memory is top notch. Sorry I have not loaded in a while, it is just so hard to do here because you have to go and find a café, and then its still not easy because the café’s signal is very weak. Last time I believe that I left you after Dachau, so we’ll go from there. That night was Josh’s birthday, so we took him on down to the largest beer garden in all of the world (in terms of the # of people), which is the Augustiner Beer Garden, we had a good time talking with other groups, and enjoyed the soccer match that they had on the large TV screen (Spain beat Italy in penalty kicks). ... read more

Travel Blog Day 9 Munich Its actually the middle of day 10, but you blog when you can, and I have quite the backlog to upload. There is so much to do in Munich and so much to see, we could be here for several weeks and not see it all. Munich is a big tourist town though, and we meeting a ton of Americans… they do all the tours here with native American speakers in English, which is really nice. Upon another basically sleepless night, Josh and I woke up and hung around for a while waiting for our tour to start… I found out why they don’t have AC. A guide from today told us quite simply they aren’t willing to pay for it. Its only hot here for 3 months, and they aren’t ... read more

I finally am in Germany and settled down. I'm staying with a very nice family. The parents are Indian, which adds to the cultural learning that this trip is all about. I have pictures, but no way of uploading them at this second, so you'll have to wait. The plane was delayed about an hour, but everything went smoothly and nothing bad happened. I only got about 2 hours or so of sleep, so I'm about to pass out. I'm looking forward to viewing the city through rested eyes! I'm also very happy that my guitar made it through baggage check and so on. Pictures tomorrow... ... read more
