I am living in Cologne now and have spent carnival in alicante spain previously (which was great). i dont speak german very well, but can get by in spanish pretty well, so i am torn between spending it in cadiz or cologne!?!?!? i have heard they are both great!

Hello Ryan
I have never experienced it in Spain, but here in Germany where I live, it is parties for a few week. Usually people dress up in a costume and go to parties. It is also know as a time of infidelity. It is an anxious time for those who have partners who tend towards having extra maritial affairs. Carnival here is called Fasching.

It would be extremely strange to be in Cologne during carnival season the first time and going to a different place.

It is customary here in Germany to dress up in a costume for Karneval parties. Will you be dressing up, Ryan? Reply to this

Be sure to post a photo of your Karneval custume here. :)
Is that those helmets that contain beer with a straw comming out of them, so you can walk around carrying your beer on your head? Maybe you were popular because you were sharing the beer. I think some of the helmets have more than one straw. Or else you were a good photo opportuntiy. ;)
