Madde iki ....aleti... read more

I finally wore out my welcome in the hostel in Prague after helping out as a night receptionist for a couple of days. It wore me out and as amazing as the hostel was, it was so new and unorganized it was frustrating feeling responsible for things I really could not do anything about. They gave me an awesome break on room charges, and since I satyed and grilled most of the time at the hostel my expenses were minimal (=longer time traveling around), so all in all it worked out pretty well. I took a night train to Frankfurt and was overrun by a mother and child as I was snoozing during one of the stops. They caught me off gaurd when they kind of barged into the compatment, and I jumped up and retreated ... read more

Hello All! Life has taken it's twists & turns recently, but somehow I safely made it to Köln in one piece! Well, I'm actually staying with this amazing guy, David, right outside of Cologne in a prompt town called Hürth. Just a 15 minute tram ride to the heart of Cologne, which makes it perfect for me to progress in my new novel, ''Twilight.'' I finished studying in Berlin and explored everything from art museums to concentration camps to the animal park. I was fortunate enough to meet with 2 ladies from Parliament and a German author. All very intriguing people with different views on the world. Alongside learning much about Germany, I learned more about the U.S. and all the cruel things Pres. Bush is/has done. Ironically, environmental issues seem to arise, yet Berlin is ... read more

Our ferry crossing to Rostock in Northern Germany was smooth, and I spent much of the time up on the sun deck. It was quite windy though, and I felt like I was going to blow overboard as Lara took these photos! Rostock has a nice beach, which you can see from the ferry, then you head in to the dock past several really huge cruise liners - our ferry seemed very small in comparison!... read more

Our assult on Munchen coincided with a gigantic lesbian street festival, highlighting the party vibe you'd expect from ze crazy Germans. We quickly assimilated, scoffing bratwurst and swilling Lowenbraus in the street surrounded by The Village People lookalikes and a host of latexed and feathered friends. Dinner involved a rowdy bier hall complete with a totally German menu and a menapausal bier wench. Thank god for the friendly locals and their exceptional translation skills. A day in Dachau Concentration Camp brought down the festive mood a bit whilst expanding our intelligence for the first time in months. It's been raining solidly for a week. What happenned to the European summer? However, we discovered the world's most extensive collection of Belgian chocolates in concoctions of insane flavours that must been seen (and tasted) to be believed. We ... read more

We have been in Munich for 3 days now and it certainly has lived up to it´s claim as one of the most fun cities in Europe. Probably our favorite activity was taking a 4 and a half hour bike tour around the city where we learned a lot about the history of Munich and went to a biergarten which is a must while you are in Germany. The bikes we took out were pretty interesting. Imagine your first bike, complete with back pedal breaks, and triple it in size. Apparently you never forget how to ride a bike, but learning to steer these bad boys around took some time! The food has been awesome here, we have definitely eaten our share of pork, dumplings and pretzels! We also had a little adventure on Friday night ... read more

On Friday afternoon we took the U-Bahn from St Pauli Backpackers, the hostel where we´d stayed, to the Hauptbahnhof, and caught a train for Berlin. On the train we ran into some eighteen year old backpackers from Florida. The Americans we do run into come uniformly from the southern states, for some reason. We chatted with them for the ride (they told us about how they´d liked Sweden), though I was tempted again and again back to my book. The Book of Lost Things, it´s called, kind of a twisted Alice in Wonderland thing. It may be set aside though; I recently purchased Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep by Philip K Dick and I´m really looking forward to it. I read A Scanner Darkly in like two days, a few days ago. Couldn´t put it ... read more

No, olin ajamisesta väsynyt ja vetäydyin jo aikaisessa vaiheessa nukkumaan.... read more

Hi everyone, I'm back from holidays once again and back to work also... I used my one week holidays after one more year university to travel back to see my family - destination Germany, more precisely the southern part. After three years of phone calls, I was finally back to Baden Württemberg and Bavaria - though one week is short, we found the time to see quite a lot. Not much to say about Germany... It is not so different of France, just the beers are bigger (the people also), the trains are cleaner (but also more expensive), the roads dirtier (but you don't notice it when you drive as fast as the Germans) and nothing has changed since I was there in 2005... It was also the first time that my man was introduced to ... read more
