My family is german, I grew up in the beautiful city of Paris so much Germans dream about, I also lived for a while in the UK (Birmingham), and I'm married to a Irano-Moroccan... what a mix!
I love discovering other cultures and confronting other ways of life, learning other languages...
I love travelling above all - read about the trips of others, write about and take pictures of mine. On a professional level, I am working as a publisher, on travel stories among other things.
I'm not technically on the road now - I'm more in the job routine but we try to escape whenever we can.
This year so far : a few days in Roma, a long week-end in Berlin, and leaving for Morocco in a few days...
Last big trip : Java and Bali, in 3 1/2 weeks
Currently dreaming about : discovering South America
I'm writing on trips we did, trips we are planning to do, places I dream about, places I've lived in...
Lago Atitlan, the last days... Another "must see" reachable from the Atitlan region is the traditional market of Chichicastenango... From what I read on the Internet before our departure, I figured out it was another tourist trap rather than an authentical market for local people. Deciding that Guatemala was full of beautiful and coloured markets, we decided against following the other travellers to Chichicastenango, and try Solola instead. Good choice (I think), we had a great time in Solola on our daytrip there. First of all, it was our second experience with the famous chicken buses of Guatemala... Crowded, noisy and smelly (thanks to the multiple vendors coming into the bus to sell their fruit salad or cold beverage), it is like riding roller-costers. The roads are narrow and steep, the ravines are impressive and the

First Central America (then Southeast Asia, but that will be for another post). So, we travelled to Guatemala in February, but the trip was unfortunately a little short... Twelve days total, including almost two whole days of travelling from France to Guatemala and return. So, ten days in the country itself, which is very little considering the slowness of local transportation and the amount of things to see! Our route, the beginning... This post will be a little short as well, as the trip is now a few months back. We landed

... read moreHi everyone, we are now back to work and real life... Back since over a month ;( It is far beyond time to get back to our holidays and share with you some beautiful pictures of Croatia.. A country that we visited for the first time - Europe has still got surprising destinations for us ! We just loved Croatia, and regretted not to be able to stay longer and see more... It is a country where you've got a bit of everything: beautiful beaches (with pebbles and rocks, careful!), beautiful islands, nice little villages on hills. If you're fond of cultural discovery or if you like chillin' out on the beach and just do nothing : Croatia is a place to discover! We spent a week in the Istrian region, on the eastern side of
... read moreHi everyone, I'm back from holidays once again and back to work also... I used my one week holidays after one more year university to travel back to see my family - destination Germany, more precisely the southern part. After three years of phone calls, I was finally back to Baden Württemberg and Bavaria - though one week is short, we found the time to see quite a lot. Not much to say about Germany... It is not so different of France, just the beers are bigger (the people also), the trains are cleaner (but also more expensive), the roads dirtier (but you don't notice it when you drive as fast as the Germans) and nothing has changed since I was there in 2005... It was also the first time that my man was introduced to
... read moreHi everyone, I've not been travelling much since my last entry... We are organising our next trip to Vietnam, for next February - till then, we can still dream about travelling the world... I browsed through beautiful photos on this travelblog website - and saw a few nice ones from Paris. Made me think that I had some as well - You never think of showing pictures from home, do you? You always dream of getting away, but home can be sometimes so beautiful, and you just don't appreciate it any longer.. I have the chance of living nearby Paris, a beautiful town with a special atmosphere - here a some photos to give you a taste of this marvelous city!
... read moreSorry about this, I'm just updating my travelblog a bit... and I realised that I had not written anything about Mallorca. Mallorca as you will know, is one island of the Baleares in the Mediterranean Sea, and belongs to Spain. I've been there thrice over the years, and from time to another it had changed considerably. Now it is known as one of the main cheap and mass touristic destinations - it's next to Ibiza, says a lot... BUT there are still very local and tranquil places on the island, especially towards the North - mainly because the only airport is in Palma de Mallorca, in the far south of Mallorca. Thus all the cheap tour operators and "all inclusive" offers choose the bay of Palma as a destination - and only few tourists do have
... read moreHi everyone, so now I've decided to take a couple of minutes and to go back in time - I've not yet said anything detailled about my last trip in Egypt, which was so great and so full of marvelous things... I don't know where to begin, really. So let's just take the trip from its beginning - Cairo, stop for two complete days. I highly recommend anyone to visit this city on your own... As much as I loved my trip, I deeply regret not to have been able to discover more of Cairo by myself. We only had two days there before flying out to Luxor (or Al Uqsur, in the arabic way) - and in these two days had to fit in the complete visit of the city, and Gizeh, Saqqarah and the

I'm too busy to write about it in more details (and honestly it's just depressing when you don't yet have another travelling project). Soon, soon you will here about our wonderful trip. We are already thinking about our holidays of next year (that is, we're already travelling in June - but to my family in Germany, that doesn't really count and perhaps in August, since we have two weeks' time, haven't decided yet if we go away or not) - and we are so much hesitating! First, we thought abour Iran: my man's got Iranian blood but no one of his family has ever seen the country - that would be
... read moreHi everyone, Finally we've done it - we've been to Egypt and it was just wonderful... Not so much relaxing, but that's the price to pay. Our eyes and our head were filled with beautiful landscapes and breathtaking monuments... I must say that it was my childhood dream (I had a "hieroglyphic" period, and was totally fond of ancient Egypt) - finally done! There's so much to say: let's begin with the context of the trip. For once, we have taken an "all inclusive" type of thing - flights, hotel, guide included, excursions, everything... I am not particularly fond of this kind of travelling, but it always depends on the place you visit. In the case of Egypt, there's so much to see in diverse parts of the country, and there's the barrier of language (even
