We have been in Munich for 3 days now and it certainly has lived up to it´s claim as one of the most fun cities in Europe. Probably our favorite activity was taking a 4 and a half hour bike tour around the city where we learned a lot about the history of Munich and went to a biergarten which is a must while you are in Germany. The bikes we took out were pretty interesting. Imagine your first bike, complete with back pedal breaks, and triple it in size. Apparently you never forget how to ride a bike, but learning to steer these bad boys around took some time!
The food has been awesome here, we have definitely eaten our share of pork, dumplings and pretzels! We also had a little adventure on Friday night when we went to "Tollwood" which was basically Munich´s music festival. A local told us that it was going to "sideways rain." However, there was not a cloud in the sky when we headed out there so we did not bring the ponchos. Well, sure enough 3 hours later we were huddled under a beer tent waiting out a down pour (I guess there
are worse places in the world to be stuck)! Guess we should have taken his advice . . . lesson learned . . . weather changes very quickly in Bavaria! Amazingly enough we were not completely soaked when we got back thanks to public transportation and a nice run in the rain. Ponchos now come with us everywhere!
Another fun place was the Engleshergarten which is a huge park in Munich . . . bigger than New York´s Central Park. There is a river that runs through it and people will swim in it, tube down it, or even in one part of the river they will surf in it. It was kind of like a big lazy river. I (Andy) floated down it a couple times and it was quite fun.
We had a great time in Munich and met some real fun people on the bike tour. Now it is off to the last leg of our journey . . . IRELAND!
On the tourGood thing it wasn´t a sunny day or this picture would not be viewable.
Our bike group...Only 1 person fell... but she did so twice.... and only one person got lost and was missing when we got back... not too bad!

PS-Can you believe you are on to your last destination!?!?!
Crazy....SEE YOU SOON
Hi Steph and Andy
I have enjoyed viewing your travel pictures. Sarah shared your blog address with me.
The pictures of Germany brought back fun memories from last summer. However I did not go to the English Garten (Jane and Don did). Instead I spent most of the day in the Pinogotheks. The bike tour sounded like a great way to travel. Someday I would love to travel to Ireland. Hope the rest of your trip was Fantastic.
Kathy
