Hola Amigos Well we are now in Uruguay after a lovely ferry ride over on Buqebus from Buenos Aires. The bad news is there is till no sunshine and I am getting paler and paler much to my digust although Martyn doesnt appear to be to bothered! So we arrived in Colonia on Monday, stayed in a very quiet hostel and the owner spoke no english so we got to use our very shady spanish, although its amazing how much we have both come on and how much we can understand, I think Martyn says dos cerveza por favor in his sleep now!! So what with the rain bouncng off the ground there was not much we could do so we went for a wander ate lots and decided to see the sights the next day. ... read more

I went to Uruguay to visit a little historical town called Colonia del Sacramento. It lies just 1 hour by ferry from BsAs across the widest river in the world- Rio de la Plata (huuuge river, looks more like a sea). Colonia was founed in 1680 and is full of remains after colonial times. This lovely place is a weekend destination of Portenos (inhabitants of BsAs). Fortunatly during the week days is a bit less busy. Off coure I met a huge group of Poles. It didn´t suprise me anymore and I didn´t even try to speak to them. Obviously Argentina became favourite place for holidays among Polish people. ... read more

Wczoraj wybralam sie do Colonia del Sacramento, malego historycznego miasteczka, polozonego w Urugwaju. Niemniej spotkalam sporo grupe Polakow. To juz zadna niespodzianka, nawet nie probowalam z nimi zagadywac. Albo ja mam jakis magnes albo wakacje w Argentynie sa bardziej popularna wsrod Polakow niz Grecja.... read more

The Supples are on the road again. We thought we´d worked enough in Santiago (3 months, that´s plenty!) and after our trip to the south of Chile for Christmas thought our backpacks needed another airing for a few months. Santiago was ok for a few months only, but inner city living and travelling on the crowded public transport system all over the place for work started to get us down. So we chucked in our job, gave up our apartment and hit the road! Left Santiago a week ago by bus. We hadn´t really planned a direct route as such, all we´re going on at this stage is the amount of money we have, and the amount of time - around 10 weeks. So first stop was Santiago to Medoza (Argentina) by bus, yes that lovely ... read more

Tultiin tanaan tahan pikkukaupunkiin. Kiivettiin torniin. Buenos Airesin pilvenpiirtajat nakyvat vastarannalla. Syotiin rantaravintolassa. Nahtiin hieno auringonlasku. Kiertelin viela yolla kaupungilla. Colonia on mukava pikkukaupunki. Taalla viihtyisi pidempaankin. Maanantai 4.2. Herasin vartin ennen auringonnousua. Paivamehujen jalkeen erkanimme. Ostin Colonia-aiheisen paidan ja kavin kuudessa museossa pikaisesti - yhteislippu maksoi 50 pesoa. Lounastimme yhdessa. Kohta on edessa siirtyminen rauhallisesta pikkukaupungi... read more

Hola again all, Felt it was time to fill you in again with antics since our trip to Torres Del Paine, Chile. The day after, we headed back to Buenos Aires from El Calafate and decided we would stay two more nights to get everything sorted and book up our ferry to Colonia. Incidentally on the first night back in BA there was the small matter of Liverpool v Aston Villa. We tentatively sought out potential bars which might screen it and managed to get one, which came as a bit of a shock. Thoroughly enjoyed the match and even went a little crazy when we took the lead, we got a few stares but it was probably more to do with the fact we were supporting Aston Villa rather than Liverpool..(as a result of the ... read more

...The 22nd in Chile, goodbye to Buenos, Three days in Colonia, and the OAP dancer... Good evening and how do? A few more days have passed and so it´s time for me to burden you with the details of how I have been living life in that time. Apologies if the lecture style blogs have become somewhat tedious, perhaps I´ll try a more concise method this time round. A lot has happened in the relatively short space of time since I last got in touch. For starters, another year has been notched upon the age of your humble narrator. And what a location for such a momentous occasion to take place. Torres Del Paine. Probably as far south on Earth as you´ll ever find me venturing. It´s basically a national park, location being about a 4 ... read more

Having walked the length and breadth of BA the day before we succumbed to the attraction of both hitting our 40th country so the next day we took a short trip in el Buquebus (Boat) over to Uruguay for the day. The boat left at 7am so we got to the port with plenty of time until Sheena breaks the news she has left her customs papers in the hostel....no trouble. We got from the port-hostel-port (this time with all papers) in a time even Schumacher would have been impressed with. Colonia del Sacramento is a very quaint town on the edge of el Rio del Plata - the stretch of water seperating Argentina from Uruguay. I can´t imagine it´s representative of the rest of Uruguay (then again neither is New York) but definitely worth a ... read more

Natuerlich, was auch sonst!? So konnte sich Dana wenigstens um unser Gepaeck kuemmern, welches seit Tagen in Atlanta lag (thank you, Brent, for improving my english.Dana). Abends zurueck in Buenos Aires war dann vorweihnachtliche Bescherung. Endlic... read more
