So o deserto. A paisagem arida e vazia. Silencio. No meio do nada, uma estrada. Silencio. ... read more

I can´t describe the excitement that we both felt on our way to Barranco from Lima airport. It had been THREE weeks since we´d seen snazzy lights, proper buildings and BILLBOARDS! Although we enjoyed Ecuador more than we could ever have imagined, it can´t be denied that we felt a huge wave of relief as we sped by fancy looking restaurants, bright lights and trendy apartment blocks. Welcome back to civilisation! We stayed in a cute hostel with very friendly owners in Barranco, which boasted a fantastic cliff top location above a pristine beach, in one of the poshest parts of Lima. After being warned by so many people to avoid Lima at all costs, I was surprised at how beautiful it was. I think that it is one of the most spectacular cities I have ... read more

Day 1 We arrived after a very long day travelling, flight got delayed in Miami due to a broken windscreen after we took off! So had to return to Miami and swap planes. but due to our extra weight we were warned that our landing would be faster than normal and fire engines would be waiting! Not what you really want to hear, but it was ok. So after 30 hours travelling we made it to Peru! Hostel is really nice, small but everyone seams really nice. Aussies, s.a and even ome more scottish so should be fun. Today went into Micraflores for a wonder around and ended up seeing quite a lot of the city, the ocean and an acient burial site which was quite amazing. Then later stumbled across a musical festival, loads of ... read more

Hello, So far we travelled with two different companies for nighttransport, and we can assure that there is great difference, and luckely for us the difference was great. Were the first nightbus stopped in almost every town, with noisy people getting in and out, seats that could almost not incline, no room for your legs, was the second nightbus good quality, airconditioning, a snack to eat during the trip, and direct connection from Trujillo to Lima and no stops. We arrived early this morning in Lima, the capital of Peru, and you can feel it is wintertime here, we need to wear our pull to walk around the Barranca area, were we stay in a nice hotel for three days, time to deliver some clothes for washing in the laundry, and walk the streets with their ... read more

Well, I honestly don’t even know where to start. So much has happened in the past 3 days! My flight and airport time was seriously boring. I didn’t think I was going to make even the wait just to get on my first flight out of SFO. So, to liven things up I tried to get on the wrong flight. No, really, I did. The best part is that when the lady came down the line to check and make sure people were in the right line before we go to the front, all I could think was, ´who the hell gets on the wrong flight?!?´ Well, as it turns out, that would be me. I did meet Fanny, a super nice preschool teacher from Peru who now lives in Bay Point. That certainly made the ... read more

Day 5: We woke up early for the Sacred Valley tour, which is a very popular tourist trip here, but was very interesting. The ruins we saw were very cool, amazing what the Incas could do back then, the technology they developed was pretty impressive. Britt and I both agreed we could have never done any of the things they did with what little they had. We got home late from that and had a nice dinner. Day 6: Spent half the ... read more
