Salkantay or Inca

Not sure whether to do the Salkantay or Inca Trail to M.Pichu

I'm looking at doing either the Inca Trail or Salkantay to Machu Picchu but unsure as to which to choose? I am 23 and therefore would like to do it with similar age people and I've heard that because Salkantay is cheaper and you don't need a permit (meaning you don't need to book in advance and more likely to get younger, less organised people :-P) then this is a good idea.

But, I am in time to book the Inca and don't want to miss out if it really is unbeatable.

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou!! Reply to this

Hi Sam, by far, the inca trail is the very best choice, and if you are in time to book it, I wouldn't think it twice. For some reason it is considered one of the 10 best trails in the world (No. 4). Reply to this

Hi Sam...I would choose the Salcantay Trek becaus there less people, the nature is really beautyfull. The Inca Trail meanwhile is such a comercial thing. It´s nice but not more. Reply to this
