Grauenhafte Nacht, siehe gestern. Wüste: schnurgerade Straße - wrum trotzdem so viele Gedenkstätten an Todesfälle? Eingeschlafen beim Fahren?

Lieve allemaal,Joehoe! Daar zijn we weer! Nieuwe update! Supermooi! In ... read more

Before commencing this trip, my plan was to use local transport in order to gain the real Peruvian experience.....however as all you guys out there know too well, every woman has the right to change her mind up until the very last minute! So I am no exception to that rule... After taking safety records into account and the advise of the hostel staff I opted for the higher end of bus travel....Cruz del sur to be precise. Reclining leather seats, toilet on board (however only no 1's allowed) and food provided, tv with films and not forgetting the fleece blanket (an absolute must for the chilly air conditioning)...and pillow. After the Air France flights this truly felt like first class!!!! So my original plans were to get the bus from Lima to Cusco and on ... read more

Say we go and try and get in" we then took a exciting cab ride you can only understand if youhave been to certain foreign countries. Then walked around a huge stadium and finally decided to buy some tickets from a scalper. We were confident the tickets were good when he carefully checked our American money. We then joined 20 to 30 thousand of our closest Peru vian friends to listen to Pearl jam play there favorites and"Real Me", by the Who, much to Stowes delight. It was an awesome open venue on a great night! And we did make that morning LAN flight and are in Puno, Lake Titicaca right now, enjoying Coca Tea. ... read more

Morning all Finally stopped for 5 minutes. What a great few days though. We hiked the Inca Trail for 4 days, that was a lot harder than I thought - so many steps!!! There were 16 of us in total, such a great bunch of people, really friendly and that made the experience even better. The guides were great and although we couldn,t shower for 4 days, all of our clothes were so dirty, the toilets were, ummm, manky and we were sleeping on virtually hard ground it was one of the best things that I have done. When you see Machu Pichu on the last day in the morning it makes it all worthwhile. We were blessed with the weather, it only seemed to rain in the night and at lunch and I must send ... read more

Most travellers use a guide book, which is not surprising and understandable. I was using Footprint's South American Handbook until it mysteriously disappeared on a bus in Bolivia. The problem I have with guidebooks on occasion, is that some people use them as if the word inside is the gospel, using the book for every single restaurant, hostel and any other choice they make. The book is called a guide book and not an instruction book, it is meant as an aid. It is obligated to warn people of possible problems, even when they are not a common occurence; there are even current guidebooks out there for backpacking Afganistan, how safe can that be at the moment? Travelling should be an adventure that comes with some risks and so with this in mind I found myself ... read more

(Here are photos! ) Or not, Tingo Maria! That seemed to be the general sentiment in Tingo Maria, which made for an interesting holiday adventure for this non-drinker. I travelled to Tingo Maria with my host-sister Gina. Her brother Linder had the opportunity to work in construction for friends in Tingo Maria, and he left about a week after I started living with the family. Now that it was the holiday season, and he was off by himself in distant lands, the family nominated a delegation to visit Linder and bring him home. This would be Gina, the 16-year-old, and I. I had just returned to Yarina from Lima, and the next day Gina and I sought transportation to the ceja (also known as cloud forest, alta-selva, or the beautful margin between jungle and mountain). We ... read more

So we are Travelling the world starting off in the South American Country of Peru, first town is Lima the capital of this developing friendly country,we spent 3 nights here in Lima discovering the colonial old town sipping Peruvian coffee and watching life go past, there is many walks of life over here but not many foreigners, we are in the minority but this helps us with learning how to speak Spanish which is one of the main objectives of traveling this continent. There are not many shops in Lima really but lots of restaurants selling mostly European food for not much less than at home. So after 3 nights we take the bus to Trujillo which is 350 miles north of the capital, once arriving we transferred straight to Huanchaco which is a small fishing ... read more
