Inca TrailInca TrailInca Trail

Stop off for breakfast
Morning all
Finally stopped for 5 minutes. What a great few days though. We hiked the Inca Trail for 4 days, that was a lot harder than I thought - so many steps!!! There were 16 of us in total, such a great bunch of people, really friendly and that made the experience even better. The guides were great and although we couldn,t shower for 4 days, all of our clothes were so dirty, the toilets were, ummm, manky and we were sleeping on virtually hard ground it was one of the best things that I have done. When you see Machu Pichu on the last day in the morning it makes it all worthwhile. We were blessed with the weather, it only seemed to rain in the night and at lunch and I must send a big THANK YOU out to the lovely Hannah Smith who recommended that we get a porter. I don, think there was an hour went by that we didn,t thank you for that. Everybody else who didn,t get a porter struggled, some of the trail was so steep, especially the gringo killer and most people ended up paying more for a porter for the other days. Also I highly recommend a walking pole, it was my best friend by the end of the trip.
Then up to Iquitos to travel 4 hours into the Amazon rainforest where we saw monkeys, snakes, spiders and loads of birds. I loved it but unfortunately the mosquitos loved me too much and I am now one big itch! Don,t worry mum I am taking my malaria pills. Words or pictures can,t describe the things that we have seen, though I,ll put some of the photos up so you can at least see.
Mum, it,s sooooo great that you can now skype - welcome to the wonderful world of the world wide web!!!
Now we are in Huacachina, a lagoon in the middle of massive sand dunes which we are going to sandboard down later, then fly over the Nasca lines and off to our next stop. We are now thinking Chile as we are quite pushed for time to get to Mendoza before Amelia has to fly to Buenos Aires, 31 hours on a bus from Lima but you travel in style apparently on the bus with beds and everything so hopefully that won,t be too bad. Mind you,
