Heights, History, and Hail I can't believe that a week has already gone by, but I also can't believe that it has only been one week! I guess when you have been in three different countries and four different cities within seven days, your sense of time gets a little bit skewed. I have seen a lot of incredible things even just within the past 78 hours. During the day on Sunday, Alvin, Linda, Tara and I all went into town in an attempt to explore. Thanks to my broken spanish we got off the "collectivo" (mini public bus) just on time and navigated our way to where we actually wanted to be. Tatus i chlopaki dzieki za zyczenia! Odczytalam je co prawda dopiero 9 ale to nic. Jak sie wyjazd udal? My juz jestesmy po naszej wyprwie musze powiedziec ze bylo ciekawie. Machu Picchu robie ogromne wrazenie! Ale moje cialo domaga sie teraz masazu, strasznie mam obolale nogi, za duzo schodow na trasach. Za jakies pol godzinki sie wybieramy, w cusco masaz jest bardzo tani, za godzine 20 soles. Zmienilismy troche plany dalszej podrozy, jeszcze nie jedziemy do Puno, ale na poludnie do arequipa, poogladoc kondory nad kanionem, a potem przez Puno do Boliwi. Poznailsmy fajnych ludzi na naszej wyprawie i wlasnie z nimi sie tam wybieramy, w grupie zawsze weselej, HEJ! Acha nie pisalam jeszcze o mojej jezdzie konnej. No wiec bylo to dosc ciekawe przezycie. Got into La Paz after a scheduled 12 hour bus ride turned into 40 hours. We got caught up in several road blocks, mainly created by angry miners who insisted on chucking rocks at the bus windows. It was a bit eighties England, almost felt like a scab. Luckily the driver was seemingly in the know about various backstreets so he was able to take some evasive action. Strikes in general seem part of Bolivian life; nothing ever seems to be resolved in a calm manner. I Got into the bus station and took a taxi down to my hostel. The taxi driver promptly tried to rip me off even though we had agreed a price beforehand. Taxi drivers in South America tend to be a bit shit really. As a rule of thumb they know ... read more

I do not have time to give an update so I will save that for another day. We successfully completed our trek to Machu Picchu and it was awesome!!! I will be sure to tell details in a few days. We are on a bus to Puno tonight.....check out Lake Titicaca and Cocobamba....then on to Bolivia! Hope you all enjoy the pics. They are a mixture of pics from the past week or two. Nachdem ich in Suedamerika nun schon einige alte Zivilisationen kennenlernen durfte bin ich nun am Nabel der Welt einer der bekanntesten Zivilisationen Suedamerikas: In Cusco, der Hauptstadt der Inkas. Ein beschaulicher kleiner Ort, der, wenn das viele Regenwetter nicht waere, gut auch in Spanien liegen koennte. Viele kleine suedlaendische Haeuser in kleinen Gassen, welche sich auf einen groesseren Platz ergiessen, auf dem sich eine Kirche oder ein Kloster befindet. Ueberall wimmelt es von geschaeftstuechtigen Menschen, die einem Bilder andrehen, die Schuhe putzen oder auch in ein Restaurant geleiten wollen, es macht Spass durch diese Innenstadt zu wandern, diese Menschen und das Spiel von Sonne und Schatten auf den Daechern Cuscos zu beobachten, die vielen Rottoene zu betrachten, die die Haeuser an den Berghaengen vor dem satten Gruen aufwerfen.
