Greeting friends, family & co-workers I am finally checking in after 1 week in Argentina & Brazil. This past week has been very eventful. Lets start at the beginning. Left LA on the 14th & arrived in Buenos Aires (BA) the 15th. The flight was bad as the seats seem to be getting smaller. My legs were touching the seat in front the whole time. Needless to say, the sleeping pills really helped deal with that issue. I arrived in BA and went straight to www.Palermohouse.com. It is a small hostel in Palermo right next to all the most fantastic rows of restaurants and night life. The room was fine but overall, the hostel was loud so sleep was hard to come by. The first day, I mostly napped as the sleep during the flight was ... read more

Hello people! Just one last blog to say thanks for following our trip and we hope you got a good idea about what an amazing time we´ve been lucky enough to have. We both have very mixed emotions about coming home we´re excited about seeing everyone and upset to be leaving the easy life! Anyway, we´re off to test the good old hospitality of BA for the next 14 or so hours. I hope we get an English Brekky on the flight. See you all soon!!!!!!! All of our love. Hello again! and so soon after you´d just finished reading the last one, anyone would think that we are sat in an internet cafe on our last day in Rio cramming as opposed to enjoying the sights! Anyway, we have both been blown away by Rio. Janice and I have agreed that this is another of those cities that we could live in were we given the chance. Everything about the city is captivating, from Christ the Redeemer watching over your every move and the spectacular beach front location to the Favelas and football culture. We decided to stay in Copacabana in a lively but nice enough hostel just a stones throw from the beach. We visited Christ in all his majesty on the Corcovado (the name of the hill he stands on) and the views ... read more

MORE PHOTOS FROM DISPOSABLE CAMERA TO COME Saturday 19th April Early start, quick breakfast, and we're all ready to go. We expected to be catching the ferry but Lila has a surprise for us - we're back on the schooner (minus the music/capirinhas). Not so nice in the rain but in an hour we've docked and are in a private van. With only one stop we're in Rio de Janeiro by 1130am, and fortunately the hotel lets us check in. Nice hotel and nice room - excepting the smell of cigarettes! We have a meeting to discuss tonight/options in Rio post-tour, then can all do our own thing. I ring Gaynor then join everyone in a trip to the ATM. We all ditch our monies in the hotel safe then wander off (minus cameras) to check ... read more

G'day, Well here we are, another day, another city, another country. We've just arrived in LaPaz, capital of Bolivia and are sitting at 3660m above sea level, which is over twice as high as Mount Hotham for those Aussies reading this. In the past few weeks since leaving Argentina and Iguazu we've covered some serious territory traveling from Florianopolis on the coast in southern Brasil, north to Rio de Janerio, east inland to the Pantanal, across the border to Santa Cruz and Potosi in Bolivia, before turning north again and heading to Uyuni on the Altiplano and ending up here in LaPaz. We arrived in Florianopolis which is situated on the Ilha de Santa Catarina and is basically a long island with many small towns scattered along it's 52km length of Atlantic Ocean beach front. We stumbled off the bus and got a taxi straight to our hostel in Copacabana. Its a really nice, small and relaxed hostel - especially nice after some of the noisy and crazy ones we stayed in in places like Buenos Aires. We went straight down to Copacabana beach to see what all the fuss was about and dozed in the sun for a while. At one point I looked up to see some woman picking up Lara's sunglasses as if to nick them so I scared her off (grrrr!) and decided we should stay awake! We later moved onto Ipanema which we actually preferred and sat around until the sun started to go down - at which point we thought a nice cold caipirinha was probably in order. On the Sunday we booked to go ... read more
