Brasilien.

Bradschitpitschi? Brad Pitt! Jedes vierte Wort endet mit einem “i”, was sich oft sehr amuesant anhoert. Internetschi, Ketschappi (= Ketchup, Cat Chup geschrieben!) usw. … Und ... read more

Ok, so we had a music class in Pelo.. haha, cool huh? A musician explained to us the history of samba and play us the different sub-genres (samba-reggae, samba...i dont know the sub-genres!) I didn't take pics of the course.. felt too self-conscious. And outside, they had this mural painted on a piece of wall, representing the Berlin Wall. there were some reporters and a group playing the drums. And after enjoying the music for a while, people started tearing down the wall. ... read more

this is at the beach house of a family friend at Praia do Flamengo. We were just hanging out, eating crab. Just a few pics. And there is another park that has a river running through it that we drove by so I could take some pictures. The little boy's name is something that starts with a M. haha. He's cute. I play in the sea with him and then later swam in their little pool.... read more

truth be told. I am home! I was so depressed because my camera broke that I didn't want to update my blog. haha. these were some of the final pictures.. (hopefully, the warranty will fix it.. so I can bring it to Costa Rica) I went with Sonia and Allegra to Parque Pituacu. It's a 45 minute bus ride. It's really cool. I love parks, it has such a community feel to it. Well, this park is actually across the street from the beach that my host family loves to hang out at. I found this out when as I was getting nearer to the park and recognized the route. When we got there, I saw my host dad barbecuing and he offered my friends and i some salty chicken. haha. Anyhow, the park is a ... read more

When we arrived at the airport in Salvador, we found the guy the hostel sent to pick us up. The airport was 30 kilometers outside of the city center so we knew we had some time in the car. Our driver said he spoke Spanish and Italian but only a little English. It was perfect. It gave me an opportunity to practice my Spanish for about 45 minutes. I felt a little rusty, forgetting some very simple words, but it was worth the cost of the ride. Once again, I was proud of myself even engaging in conversation about the legal drinking age in the US and outside of the US and the percentages of the populations of the US and Brazil who smoke. A proud moment. We parked in a parking garage and walked the ... read more

Hey All, So I Have Landed in Brazil! Flying into Sao Paulo Was Amazing!!! The Color is so truly beautiful!! The buildings are oranges reds greens blues yellows nestled in lush green rain forest, with fields of Red Red earth breaking up the intense green. Sao Paulo is Mountainous, very much like vancouver's rolling mountains. I was to take a plane to Salvador from there. I went to the gate I was supposed to go to, they scanned my ticket and the announcement came over the intercom to board the plane. i jumped up and got to the front of the line, we waited for a long time for the plane. they scanned my ticket and on the plane I went. it was a blessing that I asked the staff what seat I was in, he ... read more

... read more

So, on Friday, I went to this open market they have here called Feira de Sao Jaoquim. It's big with a section for fruits, weavings, meat, Candomble stuff, and random stuff. It stinks there. People (men) like to pee on the outsides of the porta-potties.. Gross. They have this "fair" every day in the morning until afternoon. It's in the lower city. It has a pretty bad stigma since it's supposed to be cheap and the poorer folks go there. But it's interesting. On Saturday I went to the Parque Metropolitano de Pituacu, and it's really nice there, it's next to the beach that my family likes to go to. I saw my host dad grilling some stuff and he and his friends offered to get me and my friends some food. Anyway, as you will ... read more
