Hey All. Gary here. Michelle wants me to make sure I sign in so you know who's writing. And yes Mom, we're getting your comments. Anyhoo, for anyone who's wondering, I did not hurl myself out of a perfectly good airplane. While Michelle was doing that, I was eating one of the best burgers I've ever had at The Fergburger in Queenstown. Highly recommended. Queenstown is very much like Banff. Lot's of shopping and restaurants and bars. It's also the place that originated a lot of the "extreme" activities you might encounter in the world. Skydiving, bungy-jumping, cliff-swinging; it's all here. We didn't partake of any other activities but booted out of town to Dunedin. Dunedin is situated on the east coast beside the Otago Peninsula. The peninsula is very picturesque. With only 1 day here, ... read more

Hi All This is the second effort at the Barossa news-first journal disappeared into the great computer in the sky after nearly an hour of typing. Not happy Jan! Will save more regularly this time. Consequently I will keep this one a bit shorter and just run through the ten days in the Barossa. We stayed in the driveway of friends Anne and Rob Gibson at Light Pass just outside of Nuriootpa. Very convenient as they have their own winery and cellar door sales on the other side of the house. Arrived on Friday 24th to an absolute downpour and got rather damp setting up camp so had a quiet night at the pub and John found someone else to play golf with on Saturday. Luckily Saturday dawned bright and warm for golf and also for ... read more

That week, starting Monday 6th of February we didn’t do anything! But we had two new boys move into our house! Aj and Chris! Very amusing! AJ is from Macclesfield however, as yet hasn’t stolen anything from me!!! I went to the pub on Wednesday and got really drunk! I drank far too much for a Wednesday night and was late for work the next day, oops! Felt proper rough as well and was cursing all wine makers and people who serve alcohol!! On the Friday, we went to a Defected night (which is a record label) with a few people. It was really good music and a beautiful club called Tank but there was no atmosphere! The Saturday, Lyds and me fancied going to the beach but by the time we sorted ourselves out, it ... read more

Yes, I made it back up North. It seems a long time since last week in Kaikoura. Dolphin swimming was well worth the effort & the horrors of seasickness (although I wasn't actually sick I felt awful and was pretty close to tears for much of the journey - I felt pathetic!). My singing to them went down pretty well I think, they certainly came very close - amazing creatures. My swimming is better than it was a year ago, but I still struggled to swim round and round in circles with them eye to eye! There were 200-300 around us - leaping, tail slapping, somersaulting etc. Enjoyed the whale watching too, from a plane this time, we managed to track 4 sperm whales down. I have stayed with feet firmly on dry land since then, ... read more

Well the ferry crossing was a smooth as silk. Now I can tell you the horror story without my mom worrying about whether I would meet a similar fate. The day before I arrived in Picton the Ferry was coming over from Wellington and was hit by gale force winds and waves the size of houses. People were thrown all around and sea sick. Cars and trucks were tossed around in the vehicle area and many were damaged. The ferry trip that should have taken 3 hours took about 8 hours. A nightmare trip for those on board. I was keeping my fingers crossed that the weather would improve by the time I sailed yesterday at 1pm. The conditions were perfect and I arrived in Wellington uninjured and feeling fine. I stayed in Wellington last night ... read more

Skydiving is so cool it gets its own blog. The weather wasn't playing the game, but I finally got to jump yesterday. I jumped with a madman with a dead dalmatian round his neck. It was very cool and there were mountains with snow and big lakes underneath us. I was a bit scared when I saw the girl in front of me hurtle away into nothing, but it was amazing when we fell and I think I look very beautiful in my outfit. I was look even more beautiful on the DVD where my face is stretched and my nostrils are flared, but I will be boring you all with the DVD when I get back, so I'll just post some pics for now. Def the best thing I've done ever tho - want to ... read more

Hi all, I was a little naive - they told me wednesday night was party night in Bondi, and I didn't believe them.. Oh, yes, of course, I thought, no worries, I'll be fine. I can keep up. I have been up all night and so has most of Bondi. And they do this every week! I really am giving up drinking, honestly. (at least for the rest of the week). Big thanks to Ben for being my drinking buddy and guide around sydney - have a safe trip mate, when you land in Auckland let me know so you can see for yourself just what all the fuss is about. Back to the beach for me, I think. It would be good to hear from you all, and will expect big amounts of gossip please! ... read more
