I got up, checked out, did the whole breifing thing, then decided it wasn't right without Skinny, who was doin it a couple of days later. I thought it would be best to spend some time apart because she's probably sick of me. I didnt like the thought of her going on her own so at the last minute I changed my mind... read more

Had a look around Darling Harbour, watched a didjeridoo show at the Outback Centre, bought a boomerang (how cliche). Didjeridoo's are the termite-hollowed branches of eucalyptus trees with beeswax for a mouth piece, requiring circular breathing and buzzing lips to play. The sounds are basically spoken words and animal noises distorted by the instrument. Browsed some shops, walked over to the Opera House for some sunny photos, lost Louisa in the Botanical gardens, found her again at the hostel.... read more

The Catlins So, after Robert (my German surf buddy) and I arranged to go to the Catlins over Christmas - 6 weeks later we finally pulled our fingers out and made the trip, dragging along a random assortment of companions for the jaunt. As I’m becoming accustomed (and in fact addicted to) I did very little planning, other than making sure that everyone had a tent & sleeping bag, and I’d got my wetsuit & board (and my new addition to the “can’t leave home without it” list - my cards & poker chips set). Without even looking at a map (I say that like the dorky teenager in my last blog - I’m practically giving myself two thumbs up in the mirror for being so cool - I am so living on the edge man) ... read more

We arrived at Nomades Industry, our accomadation, at midday after a short flight from Perth. We were in a four dorm (two lots of bunk beds) room but only three of us were in it, us, and a nice guy called Brian. The rooms were nice, clean and carpeted but we had to share bathrooms and showers which grossed me out, especially when you get out a shower all nice and clean and then you get other peoples pubic hair stuck to your feet from the bathroom floor!! Blahh. That evening we went to the cinema and watched 'Lord of war' which was really good. When we came out it was freezing though so the next day we made plans for jumper shopping! There is loads of places to shop in Melbourne, some is quite designer ... read more

Hello everyone, another little update for you! NZ is absolutely awesome- love it! landed in christchurch a couple of weeks ago and worked out it would be cheaper to hire a car than it would be for 3 of us to each buy a bus pass- the result was a 13 seater minbus affectionately named "van diesel" which we pimped by taking out the back seats and laying some foam down for a bed! haven't slept in a hostel since! anyway, christchurch was nothing special- quite nice, very english- having a pint on the side of the River Avon for example! After stocking up on goodness for the van i.e. a cool box for beer and 3 fishing chairs, we cruised on down to Mt Cook. Quality lakes on the way- the water is stupidly blue, ... read more

Hi Darlings, Well I guess it’s true of most cities, if you want to get the most out of your visit get a local to take you out, and luckily Chrissie (friend) fitted the bill perfectly. Off we went to Coogee, where we went for a lovely walk, stood and looked out to sea, and a group of dolphins were swimming alongside a kayak. It was a lovely scene, and as we followed them the person in the kayak was heading towards the beach and loads of people swam like crazy to catch them up, the dolphins just jumping and swimming around. Stopped for lunch at lovely restaurant, which had a fab view over the beach and the dolphins were still swimming in shore for most of the lunch it really was a fantastic scene. Then ... read more

So I know I haven't been doing a good job keeping this updated. It is difficult to write a journal here and for myself, too repetitive. Anyways, I finally started school today all you haters. I only have one class Monday, then Tuesday, Wednesday, and a tutorial Thursday that I will be able to skip if I need to travel. I don't remember what I have said since I last posted, but I have been just chilling out here recently getting my shit together and relaxing. I have posted pictures of some of the things I have been upto, but I can't post everything because of this 4.4 cents a MB thing they have going on here kicking my ass. I have been touring around the city for the most part, going to the zoo, aquarium, ... read more

Just a quick note to say TODAY I JUMPED OUT OF AN AIRPLANE!! At 15000ft!!! It was AWESOME!!! We're in Queenstown, a Banff-ish type town that is also a bit of an adreneline junkie hangout. After having my jump cancelled yesterday (too windy) I got to do it today and it was totally worth waiting for. Since I am not certified to jump solo I did a tandem jump with my new friend Peter. Think I may look into that certfication though.....too much fun!! -Michelle... read more

Howdi, I left Melbourne on Thursday morning which started a 4 day trip to Sydney. Ive met a lot of Southerners on this trip so have obviously taken a lot of flak for being a Northerner. Having said this, I managed to bump into a guy last night from Bramhope who went to Prince Henry's plays rugby with Chris Tinker's brother! A parcel has been sent home with all my pictures, skydive dvd etc. so if anybody wants to have a look at them, just ask my parents! On thursday I went to Wilsons Promontory National Park which was spectacular forestry with white beaches and aqua water, it was incredible. Went to a beach called Squeky beach and its definitely the squekiest beach ive walked on! We also managed to lose two french girls aswell so ... read more

Hey everyone, After leaving Surfers Paradise we travelled to Brisbane. It's a really nice city, it has a small town feel but still has all the city amenities. We were only here for three days so it was just a flying visit really. On our first day we did a bit of shopping and Laurie bought her snazzy new camera...notice how nice the pics are...and how many of them we have (she's been snap happy since she got it!!!!). That night we went on a nice leisurely walk to a lovely area called Southbank and had a drink. The next day myself and Liam rented bicycles and cycled around Brisbane's 500km of bike tracks (not all of it!), it was such a good way to see the city, we got to see all the sights and ... read more
