An early and hungover start to the day... which to be honest is quite normal, we check out of the hostel to get the 2 o'clock bus to Noosa, a beach town on the Sunshine Coast. We had all heard very good things about this place so the hype and excitement of going there was on high. As with all the hostels we have to check out before 10 o'clock so that meant we had to hang around for a while before we could get our bus. The hostel did a BBQ breakfast, which was cool, so in true hungover style a big greasy bacon butty met my satifaction. We waited at Brisbane transit centre for a couple of hours playing a very stupid game of Matt's called spot the celebrity, whereby when someone walks past ... read more

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Auckland April 3rd 2006

For those of you who know me best, you will know that I change my mind often. And after the last blog where I was almost defeatist and slightly down-beat about coming into New Zealand and simply finding a job after the memorable adventures of South America had passed... Things have changed. I have now bought a little mock camper-van, fitted out with a bed, gas stoves, cutlery, plates, cups, cupboard and curtains. I am going to get out there on the open road of New Zealand for the next few weeks and see what it's all about. The mountains, the beaches, the glaciers, the lonely mountain roads, the forests, the rivers, the lakes, the fresh air, the wind, the sun, the rain and so much more. It would've been a shame to just come here ... read more

Part two... Since going kayaking north of Vancouver BC two summers ago I have been dreaming about going sea kayaking again. When I decided to travel to New Zealand I read about Fiordland National Park and instantly the only activity I didn't want to miss in NZ was a 3 day kayaking trip into the fiord's. When I saw the pictures I almost couldn't believe it, after being there for 3 days I can honestly tell you the pictures don't do it any justice. Just imagine paddling five feet from shear granite mountains plummeting 3000+ feet into the sea. It was by far the best three days I've spent in NZ, and if you've been following the blog you'll know we've done some amazing things to this point. Onto the specifics... I left Queenstown for my ... read more

Welcome to the Best of The Busters. I've bought together some of the all time classic shots from the '05 Tour and thrown in a few B-Sides and Rarities for good measure. There is simply no way that even the Buster's most poisonous critic could deny that this has been one hell of a trip and one hell of a blog. Even the comments have been quite interesting and mildly amusing in most cases. Surprising to see John P describing himself as a G1 in the last blog when he is more than aware that his all consuming addiction to pornography means he can rise no higher than a G9. But, hey, who knows, he may beat it one day! Barry certainly deserves his promotion to G6 and it was saddening to hear that he has ... read more

01.04.06 So here we are in a new location, great! We have arrived at Airlie beach, the place where so many people leave for their massive tourist attack of the Whitsunday islands, but not us!! we are fed up of hearing about them. After getting settled in we went out to check the town out and the local Saturday market. We put our underwater camers in to be put onto cd, so we were looking forward to that. After lunch we walked along the sea front, you can't swim in the sea here because of the stingers. The town is nice, there is quite a lot of shops, a nice harbour and a lovely lagoon that you can swim in to cool off from this tropical heat. After the quietness of Agnes Water it looks like ... read more

Monday April 3rd Lo all from OZ! Today we got off to an early start, with us getting out of the RV Park around 7:45 am, in order to get to the koala sanctuary by it’s opening at 8:30. This allows us a few hours there, before we catch a high speed ferry to Tangalooma Island to see the wild dolphins. Let me tell ya rush hour traffic in Brisbane is busy, especially when you’re driving a bus! We got to the koala park right at 8:30, and for about 30 minutes we had the place to ourselves, which was really nice! We went off and did the koala photo’s right away, as we couldn’t resist. We got a small male koala, maybe 15 lbs or so. These guys look small and light, but they sure ... read more

Oceania » Fiji » Yasawa Islands April 3rd 2006

Our last Island that we had the chance to visit, was the famous Bounty Island. There have been a few TV Shows that have been filmed here. It was such a relaxed but also very busy party Island. There was singing and dancing, the biggest buffet meal so far and also desert and there was also a swimming pool and a pool table. What a great time. to our dissapointment we were only here for that night, but it was a great night, that was for sure. They had great cocktails and not to meantion CHEAP too. We headed to our rooms and to our surprise we had AIR CONDITIONING .... Yip that is right, the best thing you could have in your room in Fiji, we also had a fridge with ice cold water too. ... read more
