We spent today down town sorting stuff out with our onward tickets then went for a wander around Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour and the shopping centres, we haven't treated ourselves for our birthdays last month yet so we need to spend (more) money soon..... Will updated this with news another time as it's 22:30 and we've been here for over 3 hours, it's real cheap though, $3 for as long as you want and the place is open 24/7 but I'm hungry. Before I go I MUST tell you about an amazing hot dog I had today, and I mean amazing, anyone who's been to Sydney should have heard of Harry's Cafe de wheels, it's an iconic pie cart in Woolloomooloo that's open 18 hours a day, loads of famous people are snapped there having late ... read more

I've just sat down to write another long overdue entry to my travel log, and noticed a cockroach out of the corner of my eye. The little beggar ran underneath the table top and is probably thinking about running up my short leg. So excuse me if i'm a little distracted and the words don't make much sense. I wondered why this internet cafe was so cheap... It's nearly a month since my last entry and in that time I worked a week with the blokes from Taiyo. Fortunately they had some other guys down from Cairns and they weren't nearly as obnoxious as the last guys I worked with. The job was taking down the big marquee in Sydney Domain, where they staged summer concerts for Tom Jones and the like. Again it was hard ... read more

Well a strange thing happened to me today, I was buying bread from a man from Brussels, I'm not joking he was was at least six foot four and full of muscles, I couldn't think of anything to say so I muttered, "Do you speak-a my language?" And he just smiled, and gave me a vegemite sandwich, then he said.... "I come from a land down under, Where beer does flow and men chunder, Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." Anyway, enough from Men At Work, we landed in Sydney on Tuesday night and have had an AMAZING couple of days, this place is awesome I tell thee, we've seen all the must-do sights over the last couple of days and are taking a ferry over to ... read more

Tasmania was beautiful but Kangaroo Island is a unique place. I loved it! Kangaroo Island, otherwise know as KI is the third largest island off the Australia mainland. It was uninhabited when it was discovered in 1802 by an English explorer named Matthew Flinders. The Australian Sea Lion and the New Zealand Fur Seals have breeding colonies all along the South Coast. Little Penguins are also found around most coastlines. The only thing I have to whinge about is the drinking water-it was yucky! Day 1- I had an early Saturday morning (5:45 am) walk down to the bus terminal in the city. The bus ride to the ferry was almost 2 hours and I had no idea it would take so long. Anyhow, the ferry ride wasn’t too bad. The weather was a little nasty ... read more

Just back from Melbourne. Had a brilliant weekend down there and managed to meet up with everyone on Friday and Sunday nights for 2 wild sessions! The Grand Prix was excellent, noisy, but excellent! We moved positions during the race to check out a different vantage point. It's difficult to make out what is happening in the race unless you are in a spot where you can see a giant screen. Melbourne weather gets a double thumbs down, can't wait to get back to nice warm reliable Brisbane! Stayed with Ruth's great-aunt, which was great. Dale (aka Crazy D) drove us to Ramsey Street (Neighbours fame), and showed us plenty of other sights. Will be back in Melbourne in Oct/Nov for more adventures.... read more

We signed the lease this morning, and moved into our appartment in Auchenflower. It's a beauty. Our bedroom has an ensuite and it's own little balcony. The lads will be sharing a room and have the use of the second bathroom. There is a decent sized lounge and seperate dining and kitchen areas. Off the living area is a huge balcony where we can play 5 a-side soccer !! It's fully furnished which is the business, and we have a garage downstairs for a car. There is also outdoor tables downstairs and a BBQ which anyone can use. We have a little park beside us for chilling in, and the train station is literally 1 minute walk away.... read more

Well... it's starting to feel real. I just sat out on the cliff above Mona Vale Beach and let the warm breeze push me around in the dark. The past year has been such a blur of work that it has been difficult to accept that I have actually reached the goal that I have been vaguely referring to for so long. Lifting off the tarmac on Thursday is going to be like a big switch snapping into place. I'm looking forward to the rush.... read more

If you get a chance to head over to Western Australia you must visit Rottnest Island. ( Meaning Rats nest as coined by the Dutch When the discovered the island) Its only 18 km from Perth and is a small enough to walk around in a day but can keep you entertained for at least a few. The ferry left from Fremantle and is only $53AUD return which isnt too bad. Once on the island you can hire bikes or just walk around as you please. It definetly boasts some of the most amazing white beaches ive ever seen and are alot of the time completly empty for ultimate seclusion. There are camp sites as well as a hostel and cheap bungalows for 4-8 people. The most amazing aspect of the Island is the animal ... read more

You've jumped the gun there. I haven't left yet. I'm just checking to see whether this blog thing works. Its 2:00am and I've just finished packing and sorting out all the stuff that needs to be sorted out before going away. I have to be in the airport in less than 6 hours. OK, if you want a boring travel story, I'm flying from Sydney to Auckland and then on to Santiago, Chile. About 14 hours all up. Should be enough time to learn a few phrases in Spanish because all I've got right now is Hola, Adios, and Hasta la vista.... read more
