I'M SO EXCITED !!! Just had to write to you all, (While you are all still in the land of nod) I was sitting in the YHA dinning room with my breakfast cup of tea watching 'Perth' TV, which was like watching Richard & Judy, the ads came on, and there he was 'Richard Marx' in concert in Perth at the Burswood Theatre on September 9th. I nearly choked on my tea!! Its raining cats and dogs here, so after getting instructions for the booking office from reception, I walked down to the jetty and cancelled my boat trip, well put if off till Sunday. Then got the train to a suberb call 'Subiaco', 3 stops away. Guess what I got a ticket, not in touching distance of the stage, (well right near back actually, but ... read more

G'day! It's been a couple of weeks since we last blogged and in that time we've travelled so far. We'll try to keep it as short as possible, but there's so much to tell! We flew into Perth from singapore to be greeted with beautiful but rather chilly spring weather (in comparison to SE Asia). The first thing you notice about Perth is that it's so damn clean! The pavements are devoid of rubbish, the parks are pristine and even the sky scrapers shine differently from other cities. Naturally we did the usual city sights and spent the evenings supping Tooheys New and Victoria Bitter in trendy Northbridge. After a few days we were getting restless and wanted to explore more of Western Australia. We made a "make us or break us" decision and decided the ... read more

Perth WA - First impressions My last couple days in Singapore went in a whirlwind, I lost my phone (a recent habbit of mine!) but luckily this time it came back to me, Jaslyn rescued it and we met up so that she could return it. It was really good to meet her too, a fellow traveller herself, spent a month in Europe on her own last year and has plans for future trips all over. The following morning I was up early for my flight to Perth, it was an excellent flight, take off was slightly delayed because of connecting flight from London, but service was the best I have known. I watched two really good pics, March of the Penguins, if you are ever feeling fed up with your lot, you must watch this ... read more

Well after being in Freo (Fremantle) for 2 months and not seeing anything more than... Freo & Perth, I finally got outta here for a few days! A few weeks ago I was talking to a friend here, Steve(Kiwi) and mentionned he wanted to head down to Margaret River for a weekend. Well it tweaked my interest as I really wanted to see it and I really needed to get out of here for a while. So I went along with him. I finished work early on Friday and we headed out for a chill camping trip. Well, campground camping that is. We initially wanted to just set up tent anywhere near the beaches, but it's very hard to find a place as everything is under reconstruction/conservation land, so we opted for the campgrounds. We arrived ... read more

Enjoyed our 5 days in Broome. A little like the Pt Douglas of the West - well from what we saw at the lovely Cable beach resort. More tropical than I thought - the resort is set on 26 acres with lovely lawns, manicured gardens, water features, several restaurants and a couple of large pools. We had a lovely first full day in Cable Beach - lapping up the luxury and the beautiful sunshine. We went for a long hour walk on the beach in the morning before breakfast and it was very busy with people and cars even at 7.30am! 4-wheel drives everywhere and of course camel rides! We had breakfast at our hotel and had to watch our food carefully as the seagulls are quite good at flying quickly by and stealing the bacon ... read more

Ok, ok so you don't get many people in Australia singing along to this ozzy classic but we think it is important to realise that Australia lives up to many of its sterotypes, for example.. 1) It is very sunny, in fact it has only rained here once since we have been here, that's spectacular considering our track record. 2) There are kangaroos..everywhere particulalrly at dusk/dawn, which must be avoided at all costs especially when in a hire car with a scarily high insurance excess 3)...Ok so thats only two sterotypes but it will do for now, instead here is a little update about how things have been progressing down under: Since we spoke last we spent two days in sunny Port Douglas. This was most amusing especially as caught up with our new friends Andrew ... read more

Day 49 Broome to Barn Hill 17/08/06 We were awoken early by vehicles driving around the park and as we were on the move again today, I decided to get up. William and I went for a shower a little before Leanne and Daniel, as Daniel likes to sleep in. After we all had breakfast, we began the pack up. Even though we hadn’t had to do it for seven nights, it all fell into place. The boys did some diary work while Leanne and I got the major packing done. Once the trailer was organised, William and Leanne went to the kiosk to check our e-mails, while Daniel and I hooked up the trailer. Before we had completed our pack, there was a new camper parked adjacent, waiting to take over the site! Once Leanne ... read more
