Met up with Karen Eggs Benedict are yummy Good laughs all around. Sarah and I drove out to Fremantle to meet up with Karen on “Cappucino Avenue”. Tons of cafes and restaurants line the streets. The restaurant where we met Karen was pretty busy so we crossed the street and went over to Benny’s another busy place but we were able to get a table easily. We chatted, we ate, we wandered. We also did a bit of a walk around the shops and the markets. I didn’t buy too much - a couple of cards - just did a lot of browsing. We had a little fun in the $2 store in the kids section to see what I could pick up as a gift for Adam. There were these planes (three of them) for ... read more

In Perth CBD A little window shopping Retail therapy! Sarah and Sharifa had a biweekly (or is that semi-weekly…anyway once every two weeks…) meeting to go to for a few hours so Sarah dropped me off in Perth to wander about the streets…basically doing a little shopping! There are basically two main streets full of shops that I browsed. I picked up a few things like a pair of sunnies at 50% off. Whoohoo! I met up again with Sarah around 1:30 and we headed towards the Metro food court. I had Japanese food on my mind and was going to order an assortment of sushi but thought the Chicken Katsudon with rice would be more filling. It was huge but that didn’t stop me from finishing it all. :) We got a hold of Karen ... read more

We get to sleep in Scenic drive round Albany Back to Perth tonight. We had what seemed like a super “late” departure at 8:30 this morning. I still woke up early and just lay in bed. The hostel provided breakfast for us so it was pbj toast. Yum! Psychomom was “normal” again. Her daughter was so cute yet she’d get yelled at really harshly...even sworn at! Crazy. Anyway, the little girl was so cute. She gave me a hug and wanted to give me a kiss as well but her lips were all sticky with jam. I got her Winnie-the-Pooh to give her a kiss instead. We stopped off at a couple of scenic spots in Albany like the magnificent waves at the Gap and also the Natural Bridge. The water is so powerful and destructive ... read more

Hi Guys! Finances = Green Fitness = Amber (going towards red!) Relationship = Green Arguments = Half (cos Mark won't argue!!!) We're back in Perth. 2000km since our last blog and we've ended up in the same place! But we've had a lovely tour north of Perth especially as we have our new car. Just over four weeks ago I was gutted at having to give up Floozie (my car for those of you who don't know!) but to my great delight we picked up Floozie Two last Thursday! Obviously not as good or original as the first but close enough to feel very at home and enjoy the new, improved engine acceleration!!!! We've been quite adventurous this week. My highlight was feeding a wild dolphin (called Surprise, so only wildish!) in Monkey Mia. It was ... read more

Urgent call to bank Royal Bank Security All is okay now Full House in my room Pack up stuff and leave this joint I’m off to Perth now. I woke up when I received a text message from my dad telling me to call the bank ASAP! Hmm, I betcha I know why. I used my credit card a few times buying a few travel guides, a day pack, a jumper and a big expense of train tickets for my time in Europe (all booked by the way!) So it must have seemed like a red flag to the bank. Got it all cleared up and they said I should be able to continue spending. Good to know that things like this get flagged. I’m just irked because I told them back in December that I’d ... read more

G'day! Here we are in Perth, WA and just to keep you up to date... Finances = Green (possibly not for long now we're in Oz) Fitness = Amber (but getting better) Relationship = Green Arguments = Zero We've made it to Oz. We arrived in Perth on Sunday to a bit of rain (we think its following us!) after a fantastic end in South Africa. We spent 2 nights in wonderful 5-star luxury while on safari at Shamwari. The place itself was amazing and we were waited on hand and foot while the game drives were incredible. Considering we weren't really bothered about doing safari it has been the highlight of the trip so far. Mark was really good at spotting animals and when he spotted the hippo's before our ranger he was renamed 'imfubu' ... read more

Last day of work has just past so i am now "ready"... tickets in hand, bags just about packed so "set" and give it a couple more days and i would have 'gone' for a bit of a journey..... As this is the first entry it is just to see if it works and that people recieve the update before i take off out of the country and there is no turning back!..... My itinerary as it stands begins with... Bangkok for a few days, then to Cambodia for (hopefully) 2 months (pending the extension of my visa) where i will be mostly volunteering with WildAid, back to Thailand in time for a full moon party, off to Spain for La Tomatina (tomato throwing festival on the 31 August) and there for 2 weeks, in Prague ... read more

We spent a day at Caversham Wildlife park at the weekend, it was great, it's in the middle of Whiteman Park, about 30KM's North of the city. It houses all different species of Australian animals in a natural surrounding, there aren't many fences (apart from the main one around the park) and most of the animals are free to roam about and that. There's loads to see and you're allowed to interact with the animals, feeding them, racing them, challenging them to jumping competitions etc. We see loads of different things, Cassowary, Lorikeets, Flying Foxes, Koalas, Quokka, Wallabies, Walleroos, Kangadrews, Tasmanian Devils, Kookaburra, Damas, Falcons, Eagles, Busards, Curlew, Dingos, Potteroos, Wombats, Gliders, Camels etc. I'll probably fill in the blanks at a later date but am starving so away to eat a Kangaroo steak, wonder if ... read more

I was supposed to leave Perth yesterday but my English travel-mate asked to postpone it to Friday. At first I was disappointed but then I thought that I could really enjoy 2 more days of not doing much. The most I did was read my Tom Clancy book. Once you start reading it you can't leave it. I sit in cafes, I sit on benches just out there, I sit in the lounge of my hostel, and I read. I am also keen to finish it cause I want to start my new book that I bought here (the "Almost French" - I'll tell you about it once I read it). I also went a few times to art galleries. All museums are free here so you can wander around as many times as you want. ... read more

I came back to Perth Sunday night having 2 big missions: visiting Perth Mint (because Erez said it was a must) and finding lift / travel mates to go north together. Monday was almost fully spent on that task (and in the meantime I also extended my visa to Australia to end of August!). After visiting some backpackers and checking their notice boards, I came back to my own hostel just to discover there was a British girl sitting in the cafe there and she was looking for the same thing! The rest of the day was spent on renting a car and looking in more notice boards for a third partner. So we are going together tomorrow morning, and we'll know tonight whether it's the 2 or 3 of us. I was so glad to ... read more
