We have been in Melbourne for nearly 2 weeks after taking a trip down the great ocean road from adelaide. we went to the grampians (spectacular mountain range) and did a walk to mackenzies falls - waterfall - well some of us got there, and others got lost and scaled a cliff! also we went on high walk to the pinnacles - views. then onto the great ocean road where we then went and saw things like london bridge (handrails! or should that be no handrails?) which is a rock in sea in shape of bridge. the 12 apostles (of which there are 14 - of course) which are another bunch of rock stacks in sea. * this is a couple of weeks later on and just yesterday one of the apostles fell over and crumbled ... read more

Wet, rainy Melbourne Relaxing day. Big lie in. Nice Art Gallery. Not much to report on today...I mean nothing too exciting. Basically I picked up my train tickets and went to the Art Gallery. Oh yeah and I happened to pass through Chinatown so I picked up yummy pastries for lunch. Gotta love those bo lo bow and hot dog buns! And yes, an egg tart too. Since it's so wet out I'm not really all that motivated to walk about. I will be heading up to Bendigo tomorrow morning and will catch up with Hannah one last time and hopefully I'll be able to get a hold of Brit and see if she is free anytime on Saturday. Hope all is well with everyone. Hugs and stuff. Bonz... read more

School is out and the fun has begun. I finished off my last exams last week and am now on semester break until the end of July. I have finally started doing some of the touristy stuff I haven’t had time for during the school. Matt (a Kiwi classmate of mine) and I went to Healsville Sanctuary. It is about an hour out of the city in the Yarra Valley and home to one of the largest collections of Australian wildlife in captivity. Anyway I got my fill of all the Aussie favorites: kangaroos, wallabies, dingoes, wombats and even a Tasmanian Devil. Unfortunately the Kangaroos decided not to be very sociable but were able to get up close and personal with both a wombat and a dingo. My Israeli friend Soshi also got married recently, ... read more

They say prior preparation and planning prevents piss poor performance - I reckon I must be almost researched up to the hilt. I spent a bit of time today reading about the area where I'll be working in Bolivia. On Saturday morning it's off to the Map Shop in the city to see what's available and then swing around to Kathmandu to pick up some items (like I need more luggage!). The panic mode is starting to warm itself up again - I've woken up in a blind panic the last three mornings........ read more

Hey. Hopefully this blog will be a little interesting and alot easier than the actual packing of all the gear and equipment. At the moment we are deciding if it will take 3 days or 4 to get everything into the camper. The other option is to leave one of the kids behind and use the space for the spare oil filters.....oil filters are important. Anyway...we look forward to sending you some stuff and hope you enjoy. Cheers. Ange, Geoff, Lloyd, Molly & Lucy. ... read more

Happy Father's Day Seventeen hours ahead Happy eats at Keg! I didn't realize until before going to bed last night that I have a few things on my to do list other than to shave my legs. haha So today will be spent organizing myself a bit before heading off to Perth tomorrow. I just wanted to make a quick entry since it has been a while to let y'all know I'm doing alright here in Melbourne. Meet Han Brit Owen Queen Victoria Market Lots of stuff to buy. I met up with Han, Brit and Owen at the Queen Victoria Market today. It’s much busier on a Sunday! I was hoping to find some souvenirs to send home but was having too much fun making fun of all the cheesy stuff on sale that I didn’t really get around to buying anything. We bought a few snacks and food and then caught the tram to Brit and Owen’s place. They have a really cool place that they decorated really funkily. We dished up all of the snacks, cheeses and fruits and dug in and chatted away. It was really nice to see Brit and Han again and it was really nice to meet Owen as well. Han, Brit and I took a ... read more

It’s really sunny! Walk around the CBD Yum Cha is yummy! I took advantage of the “free” breakfast provided by the hostel this morning. Basically free toast and a cuppa tea or coffee. Geesh. I really miss my honey on peanut butter toast. But I guess beggars can’t be choosers, right? It’s weird, breakfast is only served between the hours of 8 and 9AM. Anyhoo, Di and I sat around shooting the breeze a bit and then used our free 10 minute token for the internet. Since the weather was super nice we took advantage of the sun and did a major walking tour around the CBD. We basically started off at the Queen Victoria Market that is just a hop, skip and a jump away from our hostel. It’s huge. They have tons of souvenirs ... read more

3 guys, 3 bikes, 30,000 kms, 9 months, 16 countries.....We are off in a couple of weeks so I want to get this up and running. Three of us and our bikes are flying out to LA and then we're going to ride right down to the southernmost point...then come halfway back. Already there's talk of hanging in and getting up to Bolivia and Peru....seems a shame to go all that way and not finish off. However, the conditions of bikes, bums and banks may determine what happens after Santiago. ... read more
