For all of those out there who are interested... I'm going to Japan! And plan to keep you all updated along the way. I hope I can find enough amusing stories to entertain you all and keep it interesting. I will be staying in Toyama Glass Studio for a week before travelling around with Andy. At the moment its going to be 5 weeks in Japan and 1 week in Hong Kong on the way back. Right now, I have 4 more days until my plane leaves for Narita airport in Japan, via Hong Kong and am currently running around like a headless chicken trying to finish all my work, say goodbye to friends, pack and just plainly "get it together" in time beore I leave. Now the deal is, if you want to recieve a ... read more

Hey everyone..I know it;s been awhile since i wrote on my blog but i guess i just wasn't that inspired... So yeah i've been in Adelaide for 5 days now. It's (again) a very different city from the other ones....Pretty big in distances to walk yet not very populated (1 million only). However, Adelaide is THE festival city....2 running at this moment and another one starting this weekend....Promoting art, music and performances....It's great! Apart from that, Adelaide has a few nice beaches (the water is not that clean though) but we enjoyed it a few days ago. Oh, by the way, this is a note for all of you who might once need Phil to put sunscreen on your back: DON'T ASK HIM to do it :p He didn't really feel like doing it sohe put ... read more

4-5 Mar - Penola/Coonawarra We drove from Halls gap along the picturesque Southern Grampian ranges that were imposing in their shepherding all on the road South. Turning right into Dalkeith, we were now on the Mary McKillop tourist way. Passing the kitsch attempt at giant wool bails, attached to a roadhouse to entice tourist in so they by tacky souvenirs and overpriced wool products, we wondered when the Giant Nun would come into view. (MM is Australia’s only nomination for canonisation into sainthood). The big nun is a missed opportunity as we travelled into the well-restored town of Penola with its sandstone buildings including the MM school building and Petticoat Lane. Penola is also the nearest main town to the world famous Coonawarra wine region. Here we also planned to meet Ben and Tina as they ... read more

Hi guys, been a few weeks and we have covered lots of miles since Esperance, we left Cape Arid after experiencing the ARID Zone environment and spectacular coastline, we had temps. ranging from 20 - 40 degrees at times with thunderstorms and high winds thrown in, pretty wild place and very changeable, but starkly beautiful. Unfortunately, no photos yet relevant to this entry as memory card not yet downloaded. We started the Nullarbor Plane/Eyre Highway expedition with a warm up of 197km drive along the Parmango Road, a dirt road that crosses part of Cape Arid and huge cattle homesteads. We discovered along the way a disused 1870's homestead called Deralinya that had a fascinating history and was still being used as bothy by passing travellers, one of whom was a lady cyclist! In these temps., ... read more

Nu er vi saa i Coober Pedy og sidder her paa det lokale Pizzaria (vel at maerke over jorden) og nyder lidt velfortjent mad. Imorgen er det op. kl. 04.30, saa natten traenger sig snart paa. In late February we walked through a part of the Barossa Valley near Greenock. This is NOT a walk that I would recommend anyone do during summer. The day was lovely, the scenery was fabulous (rolling valleys with vines heavily laden with grapes) - but the serenity was destroyed by the bird scarers. Usually it is air rifles that are used to frighten off the crows, but near Greenock they use the new audio devices- playing loud obnoxious noises constantly to scare the birds away from the fruit. Very, very painful indeed. From the bridge on the Eastern side of Greenock we headed North along the Heysen trail until the edge of the valley (this is where the noise was at its worse). Then we turned left down a dirt road to the highway. We walked ... read more

Seriously...I am in total sweet chilli heaven living here. You can buy sweet chilli potato chips and crackers, its served with vertually everything, including our new staple - potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. It almost makes it ok that they dont have poutine here. Back to more important issues...We are in Adalaide. Spanky is absolutely golden. I am really impressed with our little purchase. So tonight we are going to a huge wine festival downtown.. The locals tell us we came at just the right time. This should be fun. We have only arrived yesterday so we havent seen too much. Just did some shopping and well, all I can say is that I have a problem and Im not posting how many clothes I bought...:) We are staying in a camp ... read more

Well it is a long time since I wrote. Last entry was from Lake Alexandrina at Meningie which was incorrect. It was Lake Albert but it joins up with L Alexandrina - either way it was a beautiful spot. Drove from there to Victor Harbour via Wellington where we crossed the river on the ferry. Stopped at Strathalbyn for morning tea and heard that the 'torch' was on it's way. On our way to Goolwa we passed the C'wealth Games torch and its entourage - much tooting and waving even from the police escort. Lunched in Goolwa where the Murray empties into the sea and there is great concern about what will happen to the river if we continue to use so much water. There is only a trickle being allowed out at the moment and ... read more

Well hello all. Just checked into an internet café for a little update. We haven’t made it to Adelaide yet. We have been seeing a lot on the way and really - we are in no hurry to get anywhere. We have entered our 3rd Ozzie province, South Australia. We have been driving down the Great Ocean Road and the drive has been amazing. There is a ton of stuff to see including a bunch of crazy rock formations called the 12 apostles. These were crazy. Various masses of rock that were once part of the land. There were nice walks along it with super sweet secluded beaches. Our stay in Melbourne went by super fast and I think we are going to stay there another few days on the way home. I’m not finished with ... read more
