The little list. I forgot about this list until I got back to Australia. I found it when I unpacked everything scrumpled at the bottom of my bum bag. I read over it and realised I did everything somewhat unconciously that I had written in a quick scrawl except for number 9 which had the question mark. My Spanish is poor but I did learn a little. Fran I did see on Skype in my final week in Vancouver but I didn't see my Brother and Bodhi. 1: See Maggie. 2: Go to Argentina then travel in South America. 3: Go to New York. 4: See Tom Morgan. 5: Go to Canada. 6: Work overseas. 7: Volunteer in South America. 8: Learn Spanish. 9: See Fran Nick and Bodhi? I am back in Australia and with ... read more

Life on the Eagleview Colored Sheep farm was great. It was a very mooooo-ving experience and not baaaaaaaa-d at all. Debbie and Ian Hopton own the 30 acre farm...which mainly runs coloured sheep, Angora goats, and alpacas for fleece. Their other animals included a Shetland ponies, cows, chooks, a pet kangaroo, 2 Fox Terriers and a cockatoo. The property has stellar views, a large garden, fruit trees, various berries, and a vegetable garden. Sarah (another Wwoofer) and I started work at 8 am. We fed the sheep, goats, cows, pet kangaroo, chooks, and cockatoo. It was great fun being in charge. We had to count the sheep, goats and cows...making sure everyone was accounted for. We had to making sure the sheep and goats did not have grass seed stuck in their eyes. One goat did get ... read more

Monday 29th November - We finally arrived in Adelaide after our road trip, tired and weary and soon settled into a chill out at Vicky's Auntie Susan and Uncle David's in Woodside in the Adelaide Hills. Vicky had mentioned that David did some home made wine so John went straight out to the garden investigate and after two hours still hadn't returned ! Vicky went to find out what was going on and found David and John having obviously supped a few glasses waxing lyrical about David's tempranillo cabernet mix in amongst the bottles and barrels of David's Cellar Door ! This was a different level of home brew with somne 1,600 litres of red wine on tap and so began John's education on wines of the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, but more of that ... read more

Alice was the wife of the former Postmaster General of South Australia Sir Charles Todd ! We landed in Alice Springs and checked into our digs for the night at the Aurora Alice Springs Resort. Nothing much to do in Alice, so it was an early night as we were picked up at 5.05am for our next adventure, a journey through the Red Centre to Adelaide. Although the Red Centre is more like the Green Centre due to all the recent rain the outback hasn’t been so lush for around 50 years. Wednesday 24th November: Set off on our outback adventure with a bus full of backpackers 20 of us and our Oz driver guide Jason...no worries! We arrived at Camp Yarula 13 hours later having travelled 500 miles (just like The Proclaimers). Along the way ... read more

Hello happy bloggers.. No doubt you are wondering what happened to us.. all good. We are back in Adelaide in our little renovation project and still trying to keep warm despite it being late November! That apparently is the Adelaide Hills for you! So where did we get to? Well... after Ireland we took a flight to Slovinia where we caught up with friends of mine from Cairns for a week of meditation and relaxation with a few lovely day trips thrown in for good measure. Such a beautiful. scenic country of forests, lakes and mountains (snow topped even in late August when we were there). We visited the Lipizzaner Horse stud in the south of the country to see those wonderful white horses in action, the wonderful town of Bled (again - favourite from our ... read more

Early morning outside our room at Mount Lofty House. Complimentary bottle of red was consumed in front of a fireplace, in a room of beautiful furniture including leather chesterfields and armchairs. Dinner in the restaurant was superb. For breakfast we were joined by birds fossiking amongst the bushes outside our window. Great atmosphere in a lovely old building.... read more

It was quite sad, having to say goodbye to everybody before a 3 week holiday. At school, everybody organized a farewell party for me at recess which I found quite nice. Everbody had signed a card, with comments wishing me good luck, and NO I WILL NOT DIE WHILE I AM OVER THERE. Aidan wasn't at school, so I rang him on his dad's mobile to say goodbye to him. Then throughout the last 2 lessons of the day I was wishing good luck to people because I didnt know when I was going to see them again. It turns out that I didn't say goodbye to a number of people, most notably Amy because I thought she would be at astronomy but she wasn't, so GOODBYE AMY! Leaving astronomy last night though was hard because ... read more

It is getting close now. Less than 2 days. We have spent the evening packing bags and sorting clothes and working out what we want to take. Dad has filled out his outgoing passenger card but I haven't got mine yet so I can't fill it out yet. I have recieved an e-mail from Nana. She says that she is in Edinburgh en route Inverness and The Orkneys. She says that it is very warm, but she reckons that it will be cooler int he north. We will hear more of what she has done and her stories later on, and I will publish that as a separate blog entry, but untill we hear more from her when we are in the Netherlands, and when we meet up with her. We are still looking at what ... read more

We are still looking at preperations for our trip, which is only 6 days away. Nana is now touring around Scotland and we are sure that she is having a good time. However, back here in Australia, we have encountered some logistical difficulties in our planning of our time. Our trip to see the prolouge of the Tour de France has encountered some difficulties after we found out that the event starts at 4:15 in the afternoon, and goes until 8, which would mean we get to the north of the country by 10 pm which is very late. We have also continued working out how we are going to spend time in London, especially on the first day. Mum and Dad also went into town today and bought some clothes that should suit the European ... read more

As we count down the days before we depart, we have to continue our preperations, today most of which involved the internet. Online, we booked our hostels in London, Paris and Amsterdam, and checked out train times and flight times. We checked out where we wanted to go and booked a 'flight' on the London Eye. It is called a flight because it is owned by British Airways and they like labelling stuff like that. We have been contemplating the logistics of our arrival in London, and hoping that it will all go to plan, even if we do arrive at 5.55 in the morning. Dad also booked a night in a hostel in Amsterdam which is a 16 bed boarding house, which I am not particularly looking forward to. It is booked now, so I ... read more
