As were were still on New South Wales time, it wasn't too hard getting the kids up and there were soon exploring the property including a new puppy further back in the land where the farm dogs are kept. Greg returned from a few morning errands and joined us all for breakfast. After breakfast, we headed off in the rental car with Lisa to Dougal's house down the road so that the kids could try out the all terrain vehicles and visit the wild Emu's that live there. We checked their property first, a lovely place down by a river that has platypuses in it, before determining that the closest ATV was on one of the other properties. We headed over there were we met up with Dougal again. He and a crew were in the ... read more

Arrived at the training ranch yesterday - we are literally in the middle of nowhere! First job was to go to the nearest town and get kitted out with a hat, boots and work shirts (I'll try to upload the photos tonight!) We are staying in a 'hostel' around 15 minutes from the ranch. It's awesome - one big dorm room, a big social room and a dining area (which last night was full of insects as we ate our dinner...yummy!) Today we left at 6.30am to head to the ranch and it was already so hot outside. We split in to two groups. My group spent the morning learning how to ride 100cc motorbikes...it was fantastic! Took a while to get the hang of it but before we knew it we were off round the ... read more

The last day in Toowoomba was just reserved for packing my heaps of stuff together and preparing for farewell. Azi and her friends prepared a great farewell party for me at her place. I met new arrived Bretten-USQ students, we had a great dinner, passed time with a mind-opening Monopoly game, and laughed a lot. On our walk home, Hadi and I got stopped by a police car, and ordered to show our IDs. So far I had no encounter with the Australian police, but on my last day it had to happen... Words can hardly express! Hmm... unfortunately it is time to say good-bye and farewell (especially to my house mates with whom I shared so many moments), but I will for sure keep these kind and beautiful people around me here in Australia in ... read more

Ich sammelte ihn später ... read more

As I recently drowned my cell-phone in a waterhole, pictures may follow later on. Azisa invited me to come over with her to this festivity. Although we were no greenhorns (as students), we were pretty much greenhorns when it came to this kind of dance: be warned! bushdance is NO dance style of the indigenous people here!instead, it is a modern form of ancient 18th century British pair dances with a country band! We had soooo much fun when hurling across the dance floor... and I recognized that I have to improve my stamina. Overall: very jolly!... read more

The performance was just delightful and in a relaxed atmosphere..... immensely light and sensitive performances... just listen to the last jazz-piece (at videos section)... great! Once a week now I go practising and rehearsing piano at USQ now. They offer quite a few pianos, which are well tuned. This makes me more confident when playing pieces for 4 hands with my new partner Nigel ;-)... read more

I arrived with Emily at her sister and brother-in-law's, Louise and Andy, house in Toowoomba on about the 20th Dec. We were spending Christmas in the Bunya mountains in a chalet with a group of Louise and Andy's friends so had to arrive a few days before to help prepare - buy lots of food and drink. The Bunya Mountains are about 2hours drive north of Toowoomba and were really nice. We spent from Sunday night to Boxing day there and eat and drank way way way too much!! The people we went with Louise and Andy have known since they moved out here. They were all mostly from one big family, 6 brothers and sisters and their associated partners, kids plus a few extras like us. They were all really lovely and made everyone feel ... read more

Everyone of us house mates was fervent for the dinner this evening. More and more I appreciate the foreign dishes my house mates cook each day.... I can even stand the spiciness much better now, and I even learnt to eat with hands and chopsticks, Cool!. Look at this meal, just fabulous...we should do this every once a week!!!... read more
