http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=26507&l=6807a&id=503645207 Today we woke up bright and early with big plans. We were going to the 2008 Boost Mobile Surf sho presented by Nokia. The event took place right at the end of the main drag in Surfer's Paradise. The event is designed to showcase aerial surf tricks. The finals started at 8 AM and we arrived at 8:15. When we got there it was about 18 degrees and raining. We went to a sponsor tent that had Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero and played that while it was raining. After more people started showing up it was difficult to see the contest so we moved onto the beach and found a beach umbrella to sit under. It was still raining and we did not bring coats. I froze my ass off until around 10:30 when ... read more

Ein kleiner ... read more

Adventures with Dan and Jake never seem to get boring! Last I wrote, we were in the Central Coast and about to take off driving up the coast in our van. About 15 minutes after we left Mark's house...POP! Our van was stuck in first gear, and unable to drive pretty much anywhere fast. Our gear box had basically exploded, and our van was nothing but a pile of car parts waiting to be sent to the junk yard. Thankfully, we were close enough to Mark's and we were able to spend the night back with him and his family. It actcually worked out great 'cause we went out with his frineds that night to watch the Rugby games, and drink beers. We finally got a new van the next afternoon and continued what we already ... read more

Upon arriving we made our way to the hostel and explored the Mariner. After seeing 'paraflying' and being given a bargain we decided to give it a go. We were up in the air behind the speed boat for over 15 minutes and we were dunked in the water many times but it was great fun and definately recommended! In the evening we went to see the Outback Spectacular show. We were given cowboy hats and a three course meal. We were in Austral Downs team for the evening. The food was delicious and the traditional outback food included steak, carrots, beans, pumkin and a roll. The show included many races including horse, car, horse and cart, chicken, camel and a finale hat race (which our team ie side on the room won!). Two girls performed ... read more

There was still some distance to be covered between Brisbane and surfers paradise so we settled in for the ride. Tim was driving which gave me chance to check out the scenery. That was until he became obsessed with me getting a picture of the distance signs for Sydney. We were still 1000km away from our final destination and he wanted a picture of the sign saying so. Im not great at picture taking particularly out of a moving vehicle at 100km. I tried and tried and continued to miss it or be too far away. I gave up in the end (I dont think he was impressed by my camera handling though!!!). We got to surfers paradise at lunchtime and immediately it felt over crowded. Large high rise buildings and loads of dodgy looking bars. ... read more

G'day mate, we arrived in surfers just before sunset after the drive back from coffs. Surfers is all about the highrise and expensive surroundings. A couple in the camper next to us were off to draculas that evening which is a dinner/show thing, so we asked them to let us know how it went cause we were interested in going. The next morning the couple from Canada said that it was really good and totally different to anything they had ever seen. So that day we went out and bought tickets to go and see it. For the rest of the day, we had a look around and headed for the main town and beach. It was really busy, with lots of young people, with shopping centres and lots of eating places. There were alot of ... read more
