With Mama and Papa Ellis still in tow, it was time for a holiday. We were also in danger of working two five day weeks on the trot, so a long weekend in Northern Queensland was definitely in order. A lovely apartment in Port Douglas was the exact destination - gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Cape Tribulation Rainforest. The thing about growing up in England is that whenever I visit a town with the word "Port" in its name, I think quaint fishing village - Port Isaac for example. Port Douglas was far from that. The Great Barrier Reef is big business and the town reflected that with its posh restaurants, sparkling wharf and yacht filled marina. Jiggy is the word. Now you can't put me that close to water and expect me ... read more

So there's been a fair amount of turbulence up here, internally mostly... more of that old up-down-around & around-inside-out stuff, working its way through to a higher level of harmony and creating beautiful new possibilities! I have so much to share with you... but it’ll have to wait for now… But the short of it is... We may have very well found Paradise here in Far North Queensland (Port Douglas has us at the moment) ... and so, it seems we are looking at making a move up here! Seems to be the Adelaidean trick actually... we have met several fellow ex-Adelaiders up here that apprarently, just like us, came for a holiday and either never went back after seeing the light! SURPRISE! I am coming home! (whatever/wherever that is now!) Now I know I ... read more

Dear Blog, Said goodbye to Owen, who had been an excellent travelling companion for the last few days, made better by the fact that he wasn't a back packer and was a 'real australian'. Took a boat ride out to the great barrier reef in perfect conditions. The sea was very calm and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. As the sinii weren't 100% unblocked, decided not to risk diving, but was looking forward to doing some snorkelling. There is something slightly freaky about jumping off a boat in the middle of the sea about an hour from land, but once you get used to the idea and see how beautiful the corals are and look in wonder at the beautiful fish and creatures that live in it, you just forget everything else. It really ... read more

Is this a new reality dawning upon my fractured spirit, or just PMT? I suppose every woman has asked herself this at some stage. But who ever knows the answer? I guess in a couple days time I’ll have clearer insight… either that or my entire universe of this past day or so will have warped itself into a black hole where I’ll be wondering how I ever doubted my sanity and have forgotten this whole episode as if it were some vague dream. With Luke away for almost a week (time has done that illusion thing and didn’t he just leave yesterday?), I’ve been left pondering my existence. My existence as a woman on her own two feet, in her power? A woman as half a couple… I’ve not been feeling like either lately actually… ... read more

Ahh! My Rise & Shine to Peace & Power routine - I’m into action today! Outa bed @ 6.30, guzzle some freshly filtered, negatively ionised, pure alkaline, crystal clear Mossman Gorge water, take a beach walk and collect a few shells… and then some frangipani blossoms to decorate our room with, finish my 1 litre before breakfast commitment, make a rainbow veggie juice - and all by 8am My intention for the day is to be for and within myself, playing, creating, doing as I wish, being love. Traced my name and an affirmation in the sand in large rounded letters - ahh how satisfying - and spontaneously stripped naked for a swim in the ocean… stinger season must be over, yeah… what a delicious way to begin the day! I am so empowered and at ... read more

Saturday mornings are for the Mossman Markets, a 15km/10 minute speedy drive to the next town for the exceptionally satisfying purchase of superbly grown, serviced and priced mangoes and avocados. Then there’s the little Asian lady who picks her cacao pods just for us now hehe - just $2 each! And with each one casing 30-40 really RAW chocolate beans, who are we to refuse?! Though sucking the lemon flavoured flesh is a bit of an effort I confess, and one whole pod per day is a bit much, even more of an effort to maintain - but the work pays off with oodles of beans for smoothies, home made ice-cream etc etc….. And we are seemingly enrolling many around us, in the flavours and benefits of RAW foods! It’s so exciting to see someone taste ... read more

Luke leaves for his Big Adventure! Another totally exhausting day in Cairns. What have I become that I can no longer handle/deal with the ‘city’ anymore? Cairns is not even as populated as Adelaide by half! In fact, the streets all appear quite empty even… But the lights and heavy energy of shopping centres have always sent me into vague and heavy states - I wonder if there has ever been any research or proven info on effects of fluorescent lighting on the physical body as well as one’s state of mind. Undoubtedly. Just as research has proven that sunlight stimulates production of serotonin in our brain, the chemical that is responsible for assisting us to sleep as well as feeling OK? And someone came up with the awesome idea of bottling sunlight and creating it ... read more

So satisfyingly enjoying the Port Douglas Market experience each Sunday…. earlyish arrival for snapping up of the best fruit & vegies, a quick cruise around the stalls and on this weekend, we finally meet Adrian & Judith (and their gathering of children) again - what a beautiful joy they all are For fifteen years they have been doing an awesome coconut stall - young nuts to drink, then split in half and scoop out the flesh - just like in India! Or, with the slightly more mature nuts, they have invented their very own hand-held grating come blending drill bit with which to instantly create the lightest, fluffiest, most moist coconut flesh for one’s devouring Patend pending I believe - we’ll be two of the first customers! ... read more

Had a traditional tarot reading today… and wow… thankfully I overcome my initial hesitancy over the $ as it was so what I needed. My attitude card fell from the deck almost immediately when I began to shuffle: ‘Queen of Cups’: Who I Am. ‘Queen of Pentacles’: My Attitude (note for self) - I’ve always known and felt that my environment is my inspiration, because a scattered/chaotic/bland environment created precisely this in my internal mind/world no inspiration. I choose my power and to create my environment to be just what I want and need, I will be… scrap that! I AM inspiration, grace & vivid vitality ‘I am the Magician of my own mind and being! ... read more

Got ourselves on a curteousy bus and paid a visit to Port Douglas, just north of Cairns. Came up here to do a day trip to Cape Tribulation, a little island full of rainforest and crocodiles and cassowarys! We have to get up at the crack of dawn and wait for this mad 4x4 mini bus type vehicle - its huge! We meet our guide for the day - Paul, he reminds me of a childrens tv presenter! Then we begin our day over to the trib, off down the highway and on the ferry over to the island. Make an early morning stop off at a little cafe on Cape Tribulation to pick up the lunch and have a cuppa. I see my first creepy crawly of the day and nearly have a heart attack! ... read more
