Wednesday 9th December 2005 Gday Folks!! There you go!! getting Australianised already. "Just a quick word about photo's before I move on. It seems that the internet places do not like you loading photo's on their equipment, so I may need to load these on later to the individual journals when we get back to David's brothers place on his p.c. Apologies for this in advance but I promise later I will have them added." We got up early on Wednesday morning and after a light breakfast we that is David, Bobbi and me, headed out driven by David this time towards Perth airport Domestic Terminal to catch the flight to Sydney. As we were early, David decided to take a look at where the family used to live so we drove around his boyhood haunts, ... read more

Up with the alarm at 8.30. Head pounds with the sound of a million jackhammers. I am never drinking again. (Ha, ha, ha.) Had breakfast in the restaurant then went to Sydney. Got off the train at Martin Place. Let me tell you about the trains; they are two story and they would fit so well on the South Eastern Trains line to Kent. All the times we got on them, even at peak times we always got a seat. Walked down to Circular Quay. Went to the Opera House. Richie did the tour and I went to the local stalls. Bought myself a ring. Walked back along Circular Quay to The Rocks area. Found a market stall under the bridge and had a look around. Walked under the bridge and looked at the bolts that ... read more

Thanks to all that came to the 2005 Christmas Dinner. As usual, Christmas Dinner was a culinary triumph. So much turkey, ham, salad and dessert! In fact there seemed to be two of everything. The residents of Cookie and Linda’s place did such a great job hosting the even that the whole night was one seamless transition from pre-dinner drinks to post dinner dancing. Ah Toy outdid himself in his organization of the event by ensuring that this year I wasn’t even in the same suburb as someone cooking a turkey. Well done Ah Toy! Our Secret Santa session was especially remarkable this year with TWO Santa Clauses. The best gifts of the night included: - Alex’s aviator sunnies that looked good on everyone but Gav; - My hypercolour (!) singlet; and - Tess’s boogie board, ... read more

The Channon Protestor Falls Market time! This is the big one and I’ve looked forward to it since before I came! So many stalls with so much cool stuff and so many gorgeous people and so much grooving to the drumming! I put it out there for an invitation, and it came. Connected with J, I love spontaneity - how can I ever go back to four walls and a specific timetable? Beyond the darkness, we walked to the top of Protestor Falls, stopping to admire the communities of glow worms, bugs and funghi here and there - amazing creatures. These parts are apparently inhabited by an endangered species of froggus cutus. Tourists spreading their sunscreen and chemicals in the water hasn’t helped the situation and signs are now erected to strongly discourage swimming in ... read more

Got up at 9ish. Caught the train and bus to Bondi Beach. Stopped at Westfield Shopping Centre to get towels and sun cream. Got to the beach about 11am and it was already 30oC and we could feel it. Swam and sunned watching the beautiful people passing by. The only down side was the wind was quite strong and sand get everywhere. (Was still finding it in the fat rolls in the evening!!) About 12.30 had to leave the beach because I was cooking, even with the suncream on at Factor 30+. You so easily forget the intensity of the sun. Went to the beachside café and had ham and cheese croissant. Eat that and then sat on the lawns above the beach. Once again got too hot and had to leave. Realised we didn’t have ... read more

This blog entry will have limited appeal to anyone that hasn’t spent time in the austere, hallowed and purple halls of the AAT. However, that being said if you enjoy tales of people making fools of themselves at karaoke then I encourage you to read on. I freely admit that my third and final AAT Christmas party had a triple ring around it on my social calendar. Not only did it promise to provide me with free booze for an evening but it was going to be one of the last opportunities for me party it up with all of my mates at work. The decision on venues was always a fine balancing act - with the staff Christmas party location requiring more than tacit approval from the AAT membership. In the past the party has ... read more

This blogging site looks amazing. They are just adding a new cool map feature which was the only thing I didn't like about it. Woohooooo! I will add more text to see what shape it does. Christmas has hit Stanmore! Actually, before I go into that I have to do the week in order, or I will get muddled and confused. On monday and tuesday I taught, which was entirely uneventful. On wednesday I had the day off, but nothing seemed to go right and I ended up getting out a whole load of awful chick flicks from the video shop for a dollar each, and not really enjoying them at all. On thursday I worked a shift for the cross city tunnel and sold lots of beep tags. On thursday night I got an email ... read more
